I thought this when I was younger! My dad did not play that! He did not allow this stuff to be played on any occasion. He talked about why and I understood. I was given the proper tools for life as a child thank God. I still have a great relationship with my dad as an adult and I am forever grateful to have him in my life. It could have been bad. They wanted to recruit me as a model when I was a teen and it continued into early adulthood everywhere I went someone was on me including other models. From the things my dad had instilled in me I couldn’t bring myself to do it or didn’t feel right. It was scary to me and I felt like I would not be myself. I knew that wasn’t for me so I never got into it. At first I thought about the life I could have had but then I also thought about the trauma. I’m good…I still made it! And I didn’t have to jeopardize any part of me to do so. 😎

There is 2 main reasons people end up doing drugs. 1) Parents/friends introduce them to it or 2) having been assaulted. I believe these kids have been assaulted by 1 or more adults. I have talked to a lot of people that are addicts. Almost every single one of them have been SA'd by a grown man when they were children.

As an addictions counselor and I don't know the statistics but many addicts have never been SA but have childhood trauma from physical emotional and mental abuse and many have never had childhood trauma. They just got caught up with peer pressure and it doesn't matter if you're a good or bad parent you can't stop what your kids choose to do. However, this will ñever stop but educating kids teens and adults overall may help lower the statistics of any abuse . Sidenote: I was an addict and I never experienced SA but it's all bad and trust me I've heard some horror stories from my clients 😞

One thing I'll say. My parents inadvertently did me a favor by not allowing me to model or do extracurricular activities. Kids cannot be alone with an adult anymore! Im glad my boys are grown and no one got to them in this way but I feel for the kids who get hurt and for the parents who thought they were helping their child(ren's) future.

I would never let my kids stay overnight at anybody’s house. They had their own room. They had their own beds and they didn’t need to stay at someone else’s home especially I wasn’t there to watch the goings-on. my parents never let us stay the night with other people, neither did I let my kids either. Parents that allow their children to spend the night at someone else’s home, you never know what goes on behind those closed doors….
