Yes, you may use 'mau' to replace 'nak'. They mean the same. Mahu / mau (spoken) Hendak / nak (spoken) For myself, I prefer to use 'nak' simply because I always use 'nak :)

We like to add suffix -lah to almost any word. No change in meaning though. It can soften a word but it also depends in the speaker.
