    I usually play on sandbox mode and try to create a fully passive power source. Recently, I lined the entire bottom layer with volcanos to power a layer of steam turbines, but it isn't as efficient as I'd like. *This* though... for the price of one duplicant's time and an atmo suit? Yeah, much smaller, uses materials I normally don't know what to do with, can fuel so many other processes and feels more productive... _I like it._

    Wow. I just cobbled together a "thing" and it's working and it's nothing as neat or complex as this, but only thanks to mods. I needed the advanced cooler and access to lava. I made an overflow separator with a cooling loop that requires super coolant, which is the worst thing about my build. The rest is straight forward, including a 96 tile high pressure storage chamber for the natural gas which is getting cooled there. The only automation is a petroleum level sensor and a temperature sensor on the lava heat exchanger and methane chiller. It's definitely nice not needing all those aquetuners. When you keep a certain level of petroleum over oil, it acts as a buffer for when the oil gets hot enough to convert, but it cools quickly due to the mass above. I try and use two tiles worth of petroleum over oil and the oil always gets released over the hottest tiles over the lava.
    This game is amazing for the many solutions to one or more problems!

    It's possible to skip the first set of gas pumps. With the use of insulating shift plates, you can have the oil -> sour gas and sour gas -> liquid methane in the same room. Not sure how much that ends up saving in the long run, though, so might not be worth the trouble.

  • @GazeboPelt
    @GazeboPelt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe I misunderstand how temp shift plates work, but doesn't placing them directly next to the insulated walls transfer the temperature to those walls much more quickly? I was under the impression that placing it one tile away from the wall was best.

    if you heat up the generators over 125 degrees celsius you can slap on a few steam turbines up top to produce even MOAR power, and it saves you the hassle of cooling steam down to water, and it comes readily in a pipe too.

  • @PatrickAllenNL
    @PatrickAllenNL 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Id likd to see yoh do this in survival

  • @xburn315x
    @xburn315x 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like this could be way simpler. As long as you have space materials:
    Boil oil with thermium aquatuners(start in vaccuum).
    Thermium air pump sends sour gas from aqua tuner room to a room chilled by the aqua tuners.
    Methane is pumped to a room and dripped in a pool of water warmed by a tepidizer. Methane flashes to nat gas.
    Then nat gas goes to the generators(made of steel). Start the generator room as a vaccuum and when they heat up steam is produced.
    Turbine at top of generator room turns steam to water which is pumped to the oil well for more oil.
    I dont see needing more than hydro sensors atmo sensors and possibly thermo sensors.
    I may test this myself and reply to this message to verify.

    • @xburn315x
      @xburn315x 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! It works great, the only automation I used was a hydro sensor plus liquid shutoff on the aqua tuner room to limit the flow of oil so it can vaporize. Other than that I couldn't get my generators to overheat because the nat gas is coming into them at -14c so it keeps them cool, some tweaking could easily solve that by using the nat gas pipe to cool something.
      I used 1 aqua tuner, 1 gas pump in the tuner room( should have used 2, there is an excess of sour gas in there), 1 liquid shutoff, 1 hydro sensor,1 gas pump in the tepidizer room, 1 tepidizer and that's it.
      It seems it could easily be scaled up.

    This might be because of my relative rookiehood when it comes to the mega projects you can pop out once an hour or so, but it completely escapes me where the start-up energy for it all comes from. Another superb explanation and theoretically making. I love your theoretical builds, but my problem is that it's very difficult to port these to practical game builds. Ye, when some one would make a mod with copy/paste build-schema (or maybe it will implement in base game) these build can more easily put in practical game play. Also you are using end game materials which also need space exploration.... LOL I even get space only once yet. :D Maybe it's time to make a "first space rocket build speed run game" when you show us a game play with a possibly shortened time to reach space. Then, as we can make progress to get cool stuff from space, we can build such a thing as you showed here.... (with some practical game play modifications I suppose) Anyway, good job, as always Brothgar! Keep it up, Mate!

    Breeding tame pacu's and setting up a "breeding tank" is a little tricky, you can kind of skip that altogether and just have a wild pacu tank. You never have to feed your pacu's in your "wild" tank (even if you put tame pacus in it), and they will always produce 1 egg in their lifetime, so long as there are no eggs in their tank. So just sweep up all of the eggs, drop them up above their tank where the babies can flop back into the tank when they hatch, and you have a life-time supply of MEAT inside the tank when they die from old age.

  • @itllBuffGaming
    @itllBuffGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know you have extra power and pumps don’t cost hardly anything lol, but if anyone here wanted to make it cheaper, make a 1 tile tunnel below your oil wells to a door, hook that door to a hydro sensor, when it’s full enough the door will open and slam shut allowing only a little oil out and keeping natural gas in and outside gases out (since gas doesn’t flow through liquid)
    This method however assumes your oil wells are above your main oil tank and you’re just dropping it into your main tank, which is how mine are always setup 😁

    Is it only possible with super coolant?

  • @derVadok
    @derVadok 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The system is not quite stable. You are heating up 3,333 kg of Crude Oil 90 C to Sour Gas 542 C, which is 2596,8 kDTU (taking into account all state transitions), and then cooling down with Super Coolant to -164,6 C (this is when methan emerges) or 4467 kDTU, meaning that your coolant is absorbing 4467-2596.8=1870.2 kDTU, so you need additional system to cool down your coolant. Since you need cooling, it won't cost you much: aquatuner+steam turbine system will do the job for a pathetic 41 kJ/cycle.

Instead you’re doing brute force heating and cooling, spending far more energy to do it.

    We have buildability scores for actual construction projects I think someone needs to give buildability scores for all these designs on youtube and guides. You cant just slap us a blueprint and expect us to build it. Which also includes a bill of materials for all the design itself. Some materials are not easily obtained.
    I know they work effciently but the methodologies of building said designs need to be kept in mind. Such as creating vacuum or pumping in certain fluids into the enclosed system. Or even how to build them pre jetpack tech. They should also provide a maintenance score for these designs as well. If these systems break down how feasible is it to fix them and the messes they make to the immediate environment should be rated.

      you only use the containers for automation and thermal isolation, they store the same amount per tile otherwise.

      Both! The storage containers hold less than the 20K pressure in a single tile that you can get from using a high pressure gas vent. If you put the storage containers in an enclosed space, and fill the containers AND the enclosed space, you get like 180% storage capacity from just using the enclosed space, and over 200% more than just using the containers. Same goes for liquid storage, without the need for high pressure vents.

    At me it doesnt produce a constant amount of gas to keep all 38 generator running.. its a wig wag between times of full gas pipes an almost empty ones.. that isnt really a stable electric supply :( a little add you can use the cool sulfer and run it via transport rails through your generator area and dump it in some vakkuum area so sulfur have a good use for cooling beside beeing useless

      There was a Patch with the conversion rate of Saur gas to methane, its now just 3:2 and not 1:1 anymore. So this setup provides enought natural gas for only 24-25 gas generators now.

      @@muhormuhorsen2511 yes thats an adequate number.. combined it ith with two gastanks for each outputting natural gas lines no its stable running 25

    is there an easier explanation how to build this step by step, which materials to use for what etc. for a noob like me? This looks super messy and complicated and I always gets stuck after I start making plastic. I need more power besides natural gas geyser and I cannot understand from any tutorials so far how to get more energy :(
