This includes combat training from characters like Black Canary, Batman, etc. And learn how to handle mission information. For which we can see Mal do, sort of a glorified secretary. Meanwhile Bumblee because of her smarts developed her suit and was of more of a assistance to the team which cause a rift between them. But in the comics they actually go WAY back, like during the times of the 70s era teen titans. They were kinda in the same position back in those comics, of "being apart of the team" due to learning of their identities but not really feeling apart of the team. They even said in the comics that they felt like token black characters. Which lead them to create their own identities of Bumblebee and Guardian. Due to Karen being really smart and Mal being really physically built. So their characters in young justice S2 is more so an acknowledgement of their place back in the old Teen Titans.
In the old comics Mal got challenged to a boxing match by Death, beat him senseless and was given "Gabriel's Horn" to use as a hero. Also, he opened a jazz club called "Gabriel's Horn". Not big on the secret identity thing.

When Mongul grabs Superboy and mocks his powers, his right sleeve disappears. As Blue Beetle begins his attack on the Team and fires his sonic cannon Batgirl disappears for a second.
