The difference between west and us (Indians) is that the problem here is not of actual racism like US but its more of mistaken identity and less awareness of the unseen, inexperienced culture of people from northeast. Which should be addressed at high point. The majority of indian population hardly encounters with the people from northeast part due to lack of economic situation or less travel to the region. Who are aware and have knowledge knows, they are as much part of India as any other state, No question asked.
very well said bro! Actually Americans are looking for some competition to the racism widely spread in the united states. 😜
Yes, very well put ! They are called names , derogatory terms are used, but that's somewhat similar to other parts of India too, like Kashmiri, Bihari and Tamizh . More interaction with the diverse cultures we have as a country will incite appreciation of differences than hatred and presuming things which generations of bigotry have conditioned people to believe.
@@uttamkumar1711 correct! That's the point I wanted to make.👍
A person of North eastern origin had joined our college in mainland India. All 4 years sat away from us, did not talk with us, never accepted our innumerable attempts to make him our friend ! "Please join us-- No ! Please come with us to the canteen --- No ! Did you watch this new movie ? -- Blank face. Would you like to join us to the theatres/mall ? --- No ! " And college life ended, we could never make him our friend, no matter how politely we tried !! Now when I think about it, I feel he never wanted to be friends with us in the first place !!
Now what would you say about that ? Stereotyping north eastern people is wrong, but stereotyping mainland Indians as haters is also wrong !!!
@@desertstorm2156 yup, it goes both way
The real problem is that the previous governments did not try to integrate the North East part of India into the mainstream India, there were no road connectivity, no rail connectivity and no air connectivity, so this led to an alienation of the North Eastern people.
Now for the past 15-20 years, north east indian people have been given good opportunities and the road, rail and air connectivity has also become better. As people begin to see and interact more and more with the Highlanders, the more the stereotypes and discrimination will be gone.
#HighlanderswelcometoAndhraPradesh
‼️‼️cuz they were being preserved cuz of their nativity and indigenous tribal culture...like one of the guy was saying I am a mizo ‼️‼️
The problem is not alienation, the problem is that some people are racist towards others who feel alien to them. You can't justify racism and bad behaviour by saying "oh well they are not connected to us by road." That is not an excuse. So what if they are not connected by road? Does that mean you should be racist to those who are not connected? The problem is racism, not roads.
@@RickyTicky549 Chill the fuck out bro!!! Nobody here is defending racist people. Period.
There were, are and always will be racist people, everywhere in the world. What i said is that because of so many years of being away and almost cut-off from the mainstream india, the majority of the people didn't have a clue about the north eastern parts of India.
Even today anybody from southern part of india is called "Madrasi". And i am a telugu guy, born and raised in Baroda, Gujarat, and i've had to hear to this slang so many times, and i basically correct them with a stern but soft voice, and they get the message loud and clear. But there are still so many people out there that think all south indians are madrasi. I am not going to be able to change that in my lifetime. So lets just leave it at that.

@@ashaygomashe4253 🤣🤣🤣correct
@@ashaygomashe4253 absolutely
Although I didn't face it myself, I have kind of had a "second hand experience" (for a lack of better word), I'm a bengali girl who has many friends from sikkim, assam, manipur, meghalaya, arunachal.
Two of my childhood friends and me, we went to same college in Delhi. Everytime I went out shopping with themI would hear people call them chinki, chini, Chinese etc etc.. They always ignore all that. Worst part is when even my friend's classmates used to call her, "yeh chinki" "Uss chinki ko dekh na".. She clearly explained to them she's from a state called meghalaya and they were like " Mary kom, Mary kom"... Which might not sound bad to someone who doesn't have to listen to bullshit like this everytime they went out in public. I remember once I even got into a fight with a guy at a restaurant because he commented "Thai massage parlour girls are coming here to study in Du these days"... Some places are worse, some other places are tolerable for them, although the ocassional comments of "chinese maal" Or racist remarks, stereotyping etc never stops completely, it's lesser.
They already come here feeling neglected and then they come to face all this. My friend directly ran back to her hometown after her exams finished, she didn't even go for the placement interviews, she didn't wanted to work or stay in delhi because she was just fed up after 4 years of all that.
So saying it's the illiterate, uneducated lot who dont know any geography that makes racist remarks is just ignorant, because reality is education doesn't eliminate willful ignorance and racism. I wish more northeastern people shared their experiences, because they'll have many interesting stories from living in delhi, mumbai, bangalore etc Especially the students.
Because I realised living with my khasi and sikkimese friend that racism is in so many different levels. Some "posh , rich educated " Look down upon them as barbaric, Junglee or characterless Nepalans just for wearing clothes they like. Then the "Educated" College kids would cracks joke on them , Chinese/east Asian racist jokes about sizes, manhood thinking they didn't understand hindi. And then the illiterate labour class masses just are openly racist, ignorant, even if they speak hindi and explain to them that they are from somewhere near assam (that's the one name they knew).. Just because one looks a certain way one doesn't have to be a racist. Yes they don't no any better you can say.. But I wish they had the courtesy to atleast, leave ignorance aside. But it's too much to ask apparently
I can say it will take a long long time for such things to end. Because I already see comments like, why they keep complaining? People call us biharis no one complaining. Yes they indeed look not like indian etc as if people on TVs are the only way indians
should look.
Even NE people are very hostile to people who come from outside the state in some states, but from my experience, if the migrants they mingle with the locals, are generally warm and polite and dont disrespect the culture or local laws, they are very kind in return. I see a lot more bengali, bihari people in some states than locals. Integration and some Empathy (putting ourselves in others shoes) is the way that the end of all racism & ignorance can start.
Sorry for writing this long, but I wanted to share my point of views on this matter
Mizoram is 90% forest so obviously doing infrastructure change is not easy to protect the nature. But other north east states have seen great development under Narendra modi especially assam

Gas stoves, toilets , law and order , suppressing insurgency , Roads highways etc. Nitin gadkari is one of the best ministers. Entire north east haa voted for bjp twice in state and national elections now. Still haters gonna hate
@Hello O majority north east is heavily forested area and mountainous. Biosphere hotspots. Tribals and separatists insurgents just like kashmir. Its hard for any govt to increase tourism, do infrastructure changes quickly with these circumstances. Also borders are hard to protect due to its mountainous terrain and forests. Those areas are also under many special environmental protected zones and businesses find it hard to setup any business with more regulations when normally we have a lot of regulations even in the mainland india and uncertainty. Whatever this govt has done pro business cultural preservation while taking care of environment, no other has even tried to do this much other than apeasement. Those areas are not really favourable for living or doing business. U see floods every year. Insurgents. Kashmir and north east are cursed because of a lot of reasons. Nothing due to any discrimination but these reasons r why no govt tried to spend a lot of money. Also their population is low so less votes

I'm from odisha & if someone will ask me where are you from i'll proudly say i'm an Odia but before that i'll say i'm from India 🇮🇳. People know much more about West Bengal but not that much about Odisha, it doesn't matter to me wheather you know or not i'm an Indian and i dont need your certificate/recognition or i don't have to prove anyone that i'm an indian.

Well a major reason could be that geographically, if one were to remove that very small part of West Bengal that connects to Assam, technically the NE states would have no other direct connection to the rest of India. It is sort of how Africa is connected to Asia by the small sliver of land in Egypt where we now have the Suez Canal. So perhaps that is one reason "geographically" they call the "Rest of India" as Mainland.
However, the reasons could be more in terms of Political/Ethinic/Cultural discrimination than anything else. It is but natural to see this as a "us vs them" situation. Which is extremely sad nonetheless

Lol… it’s funny they have shown only a handful of people who have such issues with india while Indians consider north east the most beautiful part of India. I am from the south and I get offended when I am called a madrasi in north India. But then I make peace with it thinking majority of them dnt get to move around within their own country and thus they have limited knowledge and education to know better. At one point I had a team only consisting of north East Indians in my company who are extremely nice people and never felt out of place in Bangalore. I have travelled to assam, sikkim, meghalaya and manipur. The travel for me was tiresome as those are mountain terrains etc to goto diff places. Easy to say when you come from one of those states, difficult when you're a north eastern. The north eastern states get discriminated on a daily basis. Our students face hate crimes in what you call is "not the mainland".
North east Indians do have East Asian influences, but Indian influences prevail over everything else. If one just spends a day in those regions, he/she can see that all those "differences" are just external, it will feel just like India. The transition is so subtle(from "India" to "South East Asia") it's hard to seggregate people. This transition starts right from Bihar and continues all the way upto Rakhine, Myanmar.
But so is rest of India. Kashmir has West Asian influence, Ladakh has Tibettan influence etc. What unites us is the overriding Indian influences
It's the borders drawn hastily by a person from a far foreign land who knew nothing about this region and separated people

Yeah. It's similar to how every other ethnic group gets treated in U.S or the rest of the world. They openly march in protest of foreigners and immigrants taking up their jobs. Moreover having been in the EU - the labor market is too restrictive. Since I work there I know *only skilled labor allowed to immigrate.* Just few months back someone in the Netherlands torched the houses of Afghan immigrants leading to severe anti - immigrant protests which left many injured ! But never do they support Seperatism from India .. understand the context brother.. what overall context asian boss is trying to convey..
The Ahom dynasty were a Hindu dynasty in Assam, and even rest of the North east regions are full of ruins, temples, arts, etc from ancient India civilization. India always had people who looked different because of the variety of climates and topography of the subcontinent. So North Easterners are NATIVES and not foreigners. It's just that when British invaded India had been briefly disintegrated into different kingdoms, but all throughout history over the last 10,000 years it's been one nation, whether under Gupta's, Harshas, Mauryas, Kanishka, Hemu or even Marathas!
Ohhhhhh so now u started claiming about temples in NE 😂😂😂
NE wer not natives pre British.. there was no india pre British. infact it's during the British rule that most of the north east got included as a part of india.
Ahoms were not Hindus they had their own religion
@@rosie6696 making tall false claims with full confidence is not new to indians. Everyone here has a habit of exagerrating, lying, typing youtube comments with zero knowledge and being deluded. As far as the discrimination goes, it’s one of our primal nature where we don’t trust anyone who looks different. That comes from the concept of Ahankara (identity as in I vs the other). It’s a very exclusive sentiment coming out of defensive nature from our primal times. Anything stranger is seen as a threat by our survival centric mind. Now the discrimination in terms of apathy comes out of what do you identify as (individual/family/village/community/race/religion/state/nation/species/cosmic) how inclusive or exclusive you’ll be will depend on which identity you choose and your relatability, love and empathy will be within the relatable ones within that identity. Anyone outside of that ball will simply become away from empathy.
The Solution is enlarging our identity and embracing and including more.
The violence and subjugation depends on the individual nature of that person. If he/she’s rude, they’ll not hold back. If they are gentler, they will maintain distance from the other.
In a nutshell, it’s not about race, region or religion. Nor colour, culture, or habits.
It’s only about I and You instead of We
I love rick's crocodile tears so so much! You awsome theatre artist! A true American indeed.

14:14 - *There is NO INHERENT "RACISM" as such in India. It is just due to not being educated or being ignorant of the geography and NE States. Many Indians visit NE not only for tourism but also for work and internships. We don't hold the concept of "RACE" as "RACE" as per Indian defn. means "Humans" - There is only one RACE that is the HUMAN RACE which has MULTIPLE ETHNICITIES. At DNA level every human being is the same thing. As per Indian culture we have the tag line : "Vasudeiyva Kutumbaka" - Whole World in One Family. Having worked with North Eastern Indians, such as Mizos, Nagas and Tripuri speaking people along with Assamese, I know for a fact that they are not at all discriminated against. If you wish to know the reason why you must know about the Gorkhas - whom are Nepali ethnic communities like Kiratas whom serve valorously in the Indian armed forces. Popularity of Gorkha makes many on the subcontinent that they are Gorkhas and receive that respect. This calling people "Chinese, Japs. etc." is hardly done by lesser than 1 % of the entirel pop. of 1.3 Billion people.... hence it cannot be generalized at all. I observe that the video is made with only 4 - 5 people. If you ask more - you will find them telling they are proud Indian as I have heard from my friends whom I stayed and worked with.*
This is an old video. Things have changed a lot since then. Many Indians now don't view North East as separate from India. The previous Governments did not care about North East. Things have changed drastically under the present Government which is heavily investing in North East. So most of these facts no longer hold true.
The fact itself is so funny that a Indian is discriminating with other Indian 😂
Asian boss is a Chinese propoganda channel
Everyone is different so what's is the problem in accepting that one is Indian.
I am from Haryana, we also face a lot of stereotypes about haryana, we also look different from south, North East people, etc.. but that doesn't mean we want a separate land. 😂 After All we are Indian.
Even biharis have to face lot of discrimination , bihari is almost used as a abusive word ... But no one takes that seriously.. well they don't even talk about it 😂😂 even movies make fun of their language & culture .

Even Bihari face discrimination while having stereotypical north indian looks
I agree with almost everything in this video, but just one point with which I disagree. Mainlanders ???? Seriously ??? We have not conquered them as China conquered Tibet, this is why they have Mainland china and other parts in china. We cannot ever use same terms here in India. Every inch of Northeast was, is and will always be Mainland of india.
And if my brothers in the northeast really feel that they are not mainlanders then I am ashamed being an indian, and will always work towards changing their perspective by trying to make them feel better.
Actually they call mainland india beacuse north east is connected to other parts of india through a narrow passes called siliguri corridor....so it's bcoz of the geographics of our country and connectivity issues ,north eastern people say mainland(it's not the case like china)
I also don't like it...but it is what it is!
Also just like for easier identification we refer to them as North eastern states, they call the central states as Mainland. Its really a word used around a lot because believe it or not, if they say as an indian, being from aizawl or imphal we face discrimination, some would think but where is that in india... So we made this word North eastern and grouped 8 states in one name, just like that they did to include most of the hindi speaking belt as mainland
Tibet is much developed under PRC LMAO
Mizoram is a North eastern state. It shares borders with Assam, Tripura and Manipur
The mizo guy doesn't know how lucky he is that he didn't have to deal with Modi's "development". We, mainlanders, are suffering under his "ache din".
2:48 - False. Northeast are discriminated against mainly because of their looks. Because all the states have different cultures and ethnicities with mixed religious practices. Rest people don't want to make themselves aware of different parts of India and the world. 😒

There are two ways to come out of Racism thinking.
One is to beleive tat every human being are the same.
The other is to believe tat each human being is an individual and unique.
Both are true in different aspects.
But Racism is the third category where ppl think there are many groups of ppl who are same which is completely false.
We all are indians
North East Indians are mistreated & often ignored from mainstream media. But similar treatment but not the same kinda of racism, to meted out Tamils. The amount of ignorant racist bullshit in bollywood movies about Tamils is mind boggling.
When Gujatati fishermen are attacked ( most rarely) by Pakistan, the media calls portrays it as "Indian fishermen attacked by Pakistani navy". But when Tamil fishermen are regularly attacked by SriLankan Navy, its' portrayed as attack on Tamil fishermen and not as attack on Indian fishermen.
In the last 3 three years the Union govt spent ₹643.84 crore (6,438 million dollars) on Sanskrit (the language used by brahmin priests in temples) against the 29 crores (290M) spent on the entire south Indian languages.
India was actually made up a lot of different countries with different languages, like Europe, that the British unified for their administrative ease. And we stayed unified on the hope that all would be treated equal. But more and more we are coming to regret that as people like the North-easterners & Tamils are discriminated and only the "Hindi heartland" states get to dominate the arena, despite the fact that their contribution to Indian economy remains less than what states like Tamil Nadu offer.

Discrimination is something which can't be cleared completely at once by any law..but we can do small steps by ourselves to eradicate it imo…this is the first time am hearing something like Mainland cause i have personally never thought of northeast part of India as a sideland…the problem comes from lack of awareness, exposure and representation tbh
@2:00 Rick talking about/mentioning the Artists i stan & admire the most..is smth i never thought would happen on this channel.. Yes BTS were the best choice & representative..BTS being representative at the UN assembly then the Blue House and now the White House. It indicates how powerful their voices are, they are heard and heeded. Many ppl/general public don’t know that BTS has previously partnered with UNICEF for the "Love myself campaign" to end violence against children and teens so that they may lead safe lives..they hv also spoken at the United Nations General Assembly 3 time already about a number of important world issues such as poverty, climate change & the Covid 19 pandemic...as from the very beginning their music, is about social economic topics, injustices & problems, includes psychological concepts, mental health problems which are still taboo in our society to speak about, self love etc..their music has resonated with millions around the world, they use their music, their platform for good.. everything from their music to them as people.. whatever the group has said & done has helped us fans/Armys, to mould many of our own projects after the group’s philanthropic efforts and causes...as Anti-Asian hate is a global issue..It was only fitting that Biden, invite BTS - undeniably a global force to be reckoned with, to speak out about the issue & it is hoped, make things better in every corner of the world..cuz when it comes to changing social attitudes and culture, a good message is not enough tbh a message is only as strong as who delivers it, & how..as artists, the members of BTS have always genuinely addressed the issues young people go through and conveyed a message of hope in their music, which is one of the reasons us fans connect with the group so deeply..
Don't make a emotional and sad face while reacting and don't act as if you've lot of sympathy and care about them. North East people are always Indian coz they get all the benefits and facilities from their country India. Outsiders are trying to divide us making a partition in simple North East people's mind. Under PM devine scheme rs1500 cr has been allocated for infrastructure development of north east ...In 2022 budget ...Also many development works are under process ...If tourism is increased by govt initiative and communication gap is reduced between north and northeast India by central govt then things will get better
1500 cr is peanuts

2:54 - *I won't say our own Indians from North East are being "discriminated". For that purpose "all" of us (all Indians) get discriminated by our own people like the saying goes - "Indians show hospitality to everyone..... except Indians". I say this because I myself had Manipuri, Assamese, Tripuri friends, even from among the many tribes known as Mizos, Nagas etc. studying with me Engineering in South India. We always respected them and they have a huge respect for the nation as many of them and their parents are not only professionals, crafters etc. but also belong to the Army, Navy and Airforce. Havaldar Hangpan Dada is one among them ! An Indian stalwart and Hero whom succumbed fighting and after having fell his enemy ! North East have represented Bharat in various Sports, especially Olympics with weightlifting, boxing etc. as their main forte. There are also rising badminton, tennis champions too. Football (Soccer) is extremely popular in the North East and few southern states like Kerala. Mr. Sunil Chhetri is another Indian sportsperson who is famous and represents India in football. Hence it is definitely not that the rest of the country is being separately viewed. It is unfortunate that the rest of the nation is not educated properly on the Ahom Empire (Indravanshi Kings) including the great founder Maharaja Sukha Pha and Shri Lachit Borphukan whom had defended India multiple times from Turcko - Mongol and later Mughal attacks. I am extremely proud of our Bharatiyas from the North East and bow to their skills, intelligence, culture, traditions and everything they offer and represent India with a sense of pride and sacrifice which is not at all forgotten and close to our hearts.* 🙏🕉🛕⛪✡🕍🐚🌿🏇🏸🥊⚽
