    I use a rotary tool daily. Started out with a Dremel and a couple of similar Asian units, and later picked up an inexpensive pendent motor. Couldn't believe the difference in torque. Everything got done so much quicker. Flash forward to today and I use Foredom's SR, TX, and a few other pendant motors. The handheld tools just sit in a drawer. Literally. If the person reading this is contemplating a purchase, do yourself a favor and start out with a pendant motor, or a flexshaft as we say in the US. It'll save you so much time, deliver noticeably superior results, and make the task more enjoyable. Good luck.

    Like your presentation. Very bright and clear visual and audio. Your background 'displays' adds and testifies of your skill experience and all you say and recommends. Thanks much for sharing great tips on rotary tools.

    Suggestion: if you going to cut tubes (petg or acrylic) with a dremel, I’d recommend you trying this method where you wrap the tube with masking tape. Then you take an o-ring, put it on the tube and use a sharpie to draw around the edge of the o-ring to make a mark where you want to cut it. I’ve done this and all the tube measurement came out almost perfect!(1-2mm margin of error)

      I've got that dremel kit buried in there somewhere so it's still not close to being as organised as I'd like haha

    I use a tacklife PCG01B for basic modelism and the only one problem for me is his battery duration is only about 35 minutes. Do you think there is some way of modding this?

    Would you consider doing a video on protective equipment? It might sound boring to some, but it's one of those failing-to-prepare is preparing-to-fail type of things.
    I couldn't make out what respirator it was that you showed - for general dusty DIY things around the home I've found that the 3M facemasks with the little moving valves are much better than without, but the one in the video looked to be much more serious. I found that decent-brand £14 ear defenders save my ears when using a circular saw. Some disappointing usability with a couple of pairs of safety glasses makes me opt for ones with anti-fogging coatings.
    Might you have some gems of experience for us in the area of PPE for DIY?

      It's one of those things that's on the cards for the future I reckon. For the most part a fairly basic respirator, safety spec and ear defender combo will cover almost all the necessary bits for home use. I've considered getting a 3M Versaflo much like the one Alec Steele uses, so perhaps once I have that a video might be in order showing some of the different tiers of equipment too.

      @@bittech1 a good supplemental idea for this topic would be a poor mans safety equipment! i'm going to be doing cutting soon with a dremel and i don't have any of that protective stuff lying around except for a cheap paper mask , some cardboard and alot of prayers.

    The 13US$ Chinese 5 volt USB rotary tool has almost no cutting force. The spindle stops on any resistance and it needs to be cabled, because the accu drains immediately. At work the ratary tools are powered by air.

    What kind of fitting would you recommend for etching a design into an acrylic sheet? (10mm cast if that makes a difference?)

    • @bittech1
      @bittech1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably one of the small rotary burrs I would imagine, wouldn’t want to use any of the graver type tools on acrylic I’d assume.

      @@bittech1 Yeh I don't need to get deep. Might be better off with clear frosted lacquer/paint. Or some sort of etching paste.

      You’d be better off getting a proper spindle or router for it. I’m sure it could be done but it sounds like a prime way to just break the thing if you ask me unless it’s purely for engraving type work.
