I liked your presentations-no BS, just plain talk, no distracting music a good vid. Thank you
Ty too
The last Dremel I got was over 14 years ago and the tool still works and don’t have problems with it since you let the tool do the work without forcing it to do the work.
This was the best video for someone looking to replace their broken Dremel. I'm going with a Wen.
Jordy, I'm watching this one because my 2nd 4300 Dremel died on me.... when ya think ya know; ya learn from a real deal person. Thanks Jordy.
What you purchased makes sense, for the application. I did the same with my Bosch multi-tool. I needed to cut brick, something multi-tools are not designed to cut. I wasn't going to risk the Bosch, so I purchased a cheap Ozito (Australia). It did the job and if I burnt it out, it was a cheap replacement.
Keep on keeping on man love it. I have dremel 4000 just order a flex shaft for it thanks for the info for when my dremel craps out.
I got a Black & Decker RTX rotary tool based on a video you did a couple years ago, along with a Dremel Flexshaft. They still work great!
I have had success with b and d. I have a hammer drill used for 25 years. Bought it for $50 😂😂😂. Can’t beat old black and decker
I've got a Harbor Fright rotary tool ( the larger one ) and I have had it 2 years with a Dremel flex shaft on it & I like it as much as the 4000 I have.
Hey, I've been carving pallet flags for about five years. Spent a ton of 💰 on Dremels and they were not holding up and went to Amazon Wens, Avid power etc. Lot easier throwing a $30 tool in the trash every 6 months.
Yup I agree wens are good
My bits slipped out of the cheap flex shafts too. I took the collet out, and dipped some thin rope in isopropyl and put it through the collet. Then I stood on one end of the rope, held the other end, and yanked the collet up and down the rope. Pull the rope around and clean the collet. You have to keep things clean. Then your burs won't slip as much.
Save the time and get the dremel flex shaft :)
@@CarvingFusion Save the time? You were the one who said your bits wouldn't stay tight, not me. And I guess now you've bought a better one so you don't need my advice anymore. Ok. Well you should still clean your freakin tools man then you won't develop little problems like that. It's not like Dremel has self cleaning collets. They're just regular collets ok?
I bought a Dremel 4000 because I thought I was buying the best, but now it is dead I realize it has been a total piece of crap from day 1. Because it was my first rotary drill I did not know how it should behave, and understood you should not treat it as a normal-size drill, so I thought it was normal that the unit would start getting warm after only a couple of minutes use. It was normal to stutter at low speeds. It was normal to fill up with dust at the drop of a hat. . Using a borrowed cheapo chineseium drill, it was a revelation, total smooth running and a lot longer than 5 mins before it even began to get slightly warm.
I just purchased the Handstar rotary tool for light metal work. Hopefully it will last awhile. Love your Smokin carving
Thanks for the info as always. I'm still trying to get use to power carving so all the tips and hints are valuable to me. Be well
These rotary tools are low torque so you have to use a light touch and let the speed of the tool do the work or you will burn them up every time. The Proxxon micromot rotary tool has the torque you likely need for you usage
Nice carving! Could you glue a couple of glass marbles from the back for eyes. I reckon that would look so cool.
I have 2 dremel 4250 and 1 300 but at the moment very reluctant to use them until I get better at carving, so I use the taklife and a Coxwell but work well.
Thanks for the info Jordy I’m on AMAZON NOW!
Very informative video. Thanks again Jordy. And, that carving is awesome!
Thanks for another great video. I need to get a shaft for a dremel 4250.
Which of these third party ones do you reccomend and is it not reccomended to get the cheap 10$ eBay Chinese version?
You didn’t seem very impressed with the original dremel one
Dremel flex shaft is the best yes
Cool I got Titan it works well chainsaw too just cleared pit got some willow dry too some still growing thx my Stihl chainsaw retired after a year ????
The blue one is identical to my vintage Dremel that I actually have for 35+yrs.
Thank you sir for acknowledging my comment. Well mine is actually those very first 395 models. But am quite confused as the stickers on mine are different from yours. I bought mine in the UK. But the apparatus itself is from USA and the grey case from Mexico
Damn, dude. That incense burner is awesome. 👍
Thank u
That carving is so Awesome !!!
So what is your opinion on the new cordless one? You wrote that you ordered it. I didn’t buy my dremel yet. Is the cordless one really higher torque and feels more powerful than the 4300?
I would use the 4300 over any cordless one, unless u don't have access to power then....
@@CarvingFusion thanks so much for your replies. I appreciate very much
Great 'honest opinion' video. I bought my 'Dremel multi 395 type 5' in 1997 and apart from a few stuck collets and a slightly slack/floppy speed control, it's never let me down. I thought I'd upgrade it this week. So I ordered a keyless chuck and a flex shaft. Both items are unbranded. They arrived today. The new keyless chuck was a very simple swap over and it works perfectly. But I wish I could say the same for the flex shaft. I bought it from ebay. It comes supplied with 3 x different sized brass collets and a 'L' shaped circular tool that you use to lock/jam the spindle from turning when you tighten the collet nut around the bit shaft. The business end of the flex shaft works as it should. But the end that attaches to the 395 drive shaft is a different story. The sellers description seemed detailed enough. It had clear photos with all dimensions highlighted. The female 19mm threaded aluminium flex shaft connecter is the same diameter as the male on my 395, but it's a completely different thread pitch. The new FS is advertised as being compatible with "any/all rotary tools" inc Dremel. If I didn't need the flex shaft in a hurry, I would have returned it and got a refund, but i ordered it for next day delivery because i couldn't finish a job without it. So i had no choice. It had to go onto my 395 no matter what. I wouldn't recommend the following method, but not cos it doesn't work. Its cos it's a lot of messing about. I ended up grinding down the entire aluminium female thread until I was left with a virtually smooth surface. My idea was to make it a 'push fit' connector. But it was still too tight. So I cut 4 full length slots in the connector and gently eased it over the thread on the 395. Eventually I got it all the way on and held it in place with a top quality jubilee clip. I've never used a dremel flex shaft before, therefore I don't know what they're meant to feel like and sound like. My adaption/modification is solid as a rock and it more than coped with finishing the job I needed it for. But every now and then the shaft would vibrate and make a noise. The type of noise and vibration I'd expect from running a tool that's in need of some lubrication. Do you think smearing a bit of grease on the flex shaft might help? Will grease stop it intermittently vibrating and screaming ? If you think it will work, I'll happily strip it down . But I'm not looking forward to going through all that again if it's going to be a waste of my time. Thanks in advance to anyone who has the answer I'm looking for.
This one video explained so much to me. Appreciated brother. Especially since I was considering getting that exact Wen
:) thank you
Thanks for the info jordy. Appreciate it
I have the Dremel flex arm. To fit it on the Dremel tool you need a driver fitting with a square hole for the flex to fit its rod into. I also have an Enkay tool that the dremel square holed driver does not fit on. Do those other rotary tools fit the Dremel driver ?
U can just use the normal collet and tighten it up good
I bought a huepar with flex shaft. After less than 5 minutes it got burning hot. I will try the hanging it higher to see if that will cool it down.
Or wipe all the grease of the inter flex shaft
That’s cool!! Thanks for video!!!!!
would one of these be ok for model building, like warhammer sized plastic/metal models or is it too powerful, even with the extender?
maybe i 'd be better with a lower powered version?
It would be prefect just turn the speed down and use little diamond bits
2:30 You should care what other people say. Good things are made in China, bad things are made in China. You just come across ignorant
Thanks bob the slob lol
That carving is very nice 👌
Have you tried different collet sizes?
Yes
Maybe a stupid question but do you grease dremel flexi shaft?
I don't grease it no, I remember grease from it
Wicked brother carry on
Great project
I just bought that vaster rotary tool off Amazon, is there a separate “nut” I need to attach the flex shaft like a Dremel does, or does the flex shaft just screw on to the end?
Sometimes just use the 1/8 collet and tighten the nut up with the flex shaft inside
@@CarvingFusion thanks
I have used Dremel for over 25years
Thought u said 45 years? Lol
@@CarvingFusion I'm now 76 years old and still carving
THANK YOU Brother the this video.
Thank you for your help I am getting steadily better. BUT, just yesterday I had to return a Dremel flex shaft, the threaded coupling was smaller than my Wen 23114 tool. They did not interchange, I would buy a Dremel flex if I knew which one. Any suggestion? Dave
It also did not fit the larger Harbor freight tool I got early on. Any ideas?
Total newbie here...I bought an inexpensive rotary tool from amazon and want to give the wood carving hobby a try. Where's a good place to start in your opinion? Maybe a simple wood spirit?
Yes a simple wood spirit yup
@@CarvingFusion tutorial video recommendations?
That art is cool man. I can't wonder how shou sugi ban staining would turn out on something like that.
Thank you
dremels piss me off dremels piss me off k bye ! LOL thanks for your true opinion
Lol
Thanks for this information Jordy. Sorry not been on comments recently ( so what!?!😅) But I've been having the same problems with Dremel!!! To expensive to run/repair . If you can repair it at all. Yeah,I agree, two cheaper ones rather than lining someone's pockets. As you said " They're ALL Chinese made anyways" .🏴😳🤔👍🏻🏴
Will the Dremel Flex shaft fit on a Populo rotary tool?
Sorry never tried that type
@@CarvingFusion Thanks, Jordy😊
The fact that the burr is cooked black should tell you what went wrong.
Thank you but are incorrect
This oughta be interesting, should we count the swer words?
Have you tried the keyless chucks?
Yup I have lots
Wouldn't a dremel 3000 have been more convenient for you? on Amazon I sometimes find it at a discount of 50 euros, I have not tested the cheap ones, but I don't know if they can have the same durability, and above all the same safety
The cheep ones are just as good if u ask me, or at least close to it
Since the Dremel started using Mexico to build them, they have to sh&t. My Dremel 4300 w/flex cable, the bit/burs still comes out. I add a few drops of lube in the flex cable and run it for a minute. As far as the colon, I'll have my Doc. Check it. lol
Easy trick to those wire wheels, use super glue on them! But always wear safety glasses
Thanks or just not use them at all :)
Dremel SUCKS! The biggest $180 purchase mistake EVER!! I bought the 4200 with 'EZ change mechanism'. It lasted less than 50 uses. I only used sander drum and belts.I had to have the stupid chrome case! The drums never held the sanding belts, the 2 pulldown release levers suddenly stuck one day, and the drums kept falling out -the motor started cycling up and down in speed (NEVER used above 10k.) A genuine Piece of $HIT!!
Great info video Jordy, thanks so much.
Thanks for sharing.
I get tyred of the bits constantly coming lose
I'd get a dremel collet and use that on the Cheep flex shaft
Got the WEN 👍thanks for the review great info
Beautiful work Jordy! And , being a Dremel carver myself with a 4300, I know the power of the beast of a tool it is. Also, make sure you fill out the warranty on it. If you do all it will cost you to get it fixed/replaced is shipping and possibly like $14 American if they have to replace it. I'm not knocking anything that your saying, Jordy, Dremel Is expensive, but the only thing that I don't like about my Dremel is that I can't find a attachment to fit the quarter inch shaft of the larger Kutzall burrs. I'd love to find a cheaper way to use those Burrs to get to some larger carving. Got any suggestions Jordy?
Ty and there is nothing that will work to make a 1/4,fit a dremel
Just get a cheap Foredom SR clone on Amazon or a Harbor Freight Foredom clone you can pick up for $37 on sale for the larger bits.
Brushless rotary tool yet ?if so can do a review ? 😮😮😊
Don't think so
Jordy in 2024 have you stopped buying the cheaper Amazon rotary tools and gone back to buying Dremel?
I use any tool that runs lol
I bet the inner guts for all are made in same china factory... plastic body, electric cord, and maybe quality of motor brushes being the difference
I would agree
Hopefully they meet somewhere in the middle 🤣👍
Don't know why, but I've not had a 4300 work for me. First one lasted one minute took it back and got another one and it stopped after 1/2 hour. Have a 4000 that's two years and a brand new one just in case 1st one goes out. I don't use the flex shaft. Not a fan of the 4300
Buy a cheap one get good.
Then Buy a good one and get better.
BUT Buy a cheap one for your noob stage
Dremel is junk! I just bought the 4300 and after 5 minutes of use it started cutting in and out of power. I took it back and exchanged it for a new one and it blows sparks out of it like a sparkler on the 4th of July. Its going back as soon as I'm done typing this. I'm going to look on Amazon. Never buying Dremel again.
Shitty
You are aggressively canadian which is a sentence that should never make sense.
Ehhhh
Have you ever thought about trying harbor freight?
Don't have it in canada
why is there holes in the tabletop?
It's a dust collector
