I love this channel. Every time I watch you guys fixing your combine I go running out to check on mine to see if that’s a repair I need. Fantastic repair video. I know it’s an older video but still great information

Thanks. I think everyone likes the repair videos better than the field ones.

Best of luck to you boys.. wish I lived nearby. I have a 9500, been very dependable machine for me.

That is why I still have my 6600 combine. It has only had 2 owners and both took care of it. It has been through all the repairs that come with age. Now it is just maintaining. Keep up the great work.

Ive heard of John Deere maximizer combines with over 5000 seperator hours. Our plan is to continue running this one unless we pick up some more acres.

Not too many 9400 combine videos to look at. I’n my opinion, probably the best combine ever made. Simple means a lot! We still run one here on the farm.

I just wish they had went on and added the bigger 7.6L engine instead of the 6.8. Sometimes I wish it had a little more horsepower, but it has been a very good machine.

Man that is a good design for the sieves. Didn’t know they were made like that. Wish all of them were designed that way…much easier to remove them.
I never thought replacing the bushings was that bad of a job…but getting it all installed back and timed up just perfectly was the hard part.
Hope Robert got everything gootentite! 😂

I did all the wrench pulling this time so if it comes loose its all on me lol.
John Deere comes up with a good idea every now and then.

Those are good machines. Our 9500 has about 7000 engines hours and about 5000 separator hours. Drill a small hole at the end of those cracks before welding and they wont run anymore. You may already know that but figured I would pass that tip along.

I’m gonna agree with you about what you said about upgrading combines. It’s paid for and does the job. The less payments you have at the end of the year is more money in your pocket. But you would look good in Red, lol!

I’m pretty pro capacity, but when you run out of effective forward speed before you start working the back end, their just isn’t any point!
At one point, I had a 12 row corn head I ran on a 9500 and 9610. Were organic, and back then, we barely got over 100 bushel corn. Once we started getting 150+ I scaled way back to a 6 row. They all cover the same acreage per hour. But I can move faster than a slow walking pace.
We need a good 9870 corn machine. I buy equipment and lease it to a custom harvester. He dropped an X9 off, talk about over kill. I was going as fast as I could, not losing anything out the back, and only using 30% of the back in 220-230 bushel corn. Once I have to buy a machine, I’m thinking a good 9870, possibly a 670-680.

Newer model deer walkers had A bit more factory bracing on the outside where your holes worn in. Holds the side sheet tin more straight and a bit away from rubber seals. I used to welded 3 inch wide thin strap steel where the rubber rides in quite a few when I worked on them full time. Just like you did. Edible bean dirt/sandy dust was nasty wear on inside of combines. In 15 years at the JD, I only replace a couple big rubber bushings on 9500 & 9600 combines. 7720 and 8820 did a handful of small rubber bushings on each combine every year. Tighten the bushings in the center of the shoe stroke , otherwise can induce a vibration.

Seems to be a problem with the Deere even my 9550 has the wear spots in it

    • @DylanJoyceFarms
      @DylanJoyceFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

My brother and I was discussing why they didnt put some replaceable wear plates in that area. You could just unbolt it, slip a new plate in and rock on.

@@DylanJoyceFarms that would make too much sense and easy to repair. I’d like to replace the rubber seals down the sides of the frame I just haven’t found the staple gun to do yet
