@@Devonshirejackdaw Absolutely,Lauren. If I am not called a xxxx every few days,I wonder what I'm doing wrong and wear it as a badge of honour in London though it was a bit rich the other day when I pulled out alongside this older Woman who blocked the near lane so she could turn right into my High Street and a van load of lads finally got past her and called me a xxxx while saying nothing to her and the same happened recently on a tight side road , where this Lady would not push back leaving me ,at the back,of our queue of cars just blocking the cars in the other direction and again they took their annoyance and frustration on me. Good Game:)

I have been driving in Britain for 47 yrs and you learn when driving here is that, the word of the wise is, be prepared for surprises. Always, always expect a tosser wherever you may be on our roads. Worst drivers? BMWs Audis and van drivers. They own the roads or believe they do. Great vid as usual but I see it for real every day. Yes I have often used all of the words in the video the same as millions of others over here. Take Care in America. 👍

Range Rovers ive found to be the worst, well they the only ones what run me of the road, 3rd one may not be so lucky tho i just make sure im stopped then they hit me i won't swerve off the road again, bmw and audi they more annoying from my experience and defensive driving you know there next move most the time, bmw all did reverse back only one try to stand ground but engine off roll a smoke they soon realized i got a lot time they back up but only one try so far to stand ground but at end all reversed, its only the range rovers in my experience they want to hurt you, much worse than be annoying

Been driving for 43 years mostly in and around London so plenty of fun:)
Some of these drivers seem poor at anticipation though because, for example, if the car in front of you is behind a Tractor, you have to expect them to pull out even if they don't give that impression. If I am moving into the middle lane on a Motorway,I make sure that the guy in the furthest lane is not, also, simultaneously, wanting to do the same thing. Luckily I DO "stereotype" and it has saved me on many occasions to assume the worst. lol

Standard for us in the UK swearing behind the wheel .😂

  • @paidwitness797
    @paidwitness797 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Re closing comments, while we do have stop signs in the UK they are pretty uncommon, more likely to have a 'give way' sign (means your supposed to slow down, and check the road is clear before joining it) and at roundabouts we give way to the right, so check its clear and merge if safe. In both circumstances if its not safe to merge your supposed to stop and wait, but the overall idea is to keep traffic flowing.
Obviously the system only works if people drive as they are supposed to and actually use their mirrors and look around before moving (or stopping), it mostly works, but there are always a few who are idiots, the young and 'immortal', the clueless or the kinda terrified with tunnel vision fixed on the end of their bonnets and a death grip on the steering wheel, basically the same as everywhere else and the rest of us have to work around them.

The British roads are far more compact than American ones for obvious historical reasons. In fact, we're ostensibly better drivers because of this. But for smooth operation, a touch of reasonableness is required. A perfect example is outside the the Spaniards Inn on the Finchley/Hampstead route. A busy two way road squeezes into a one way lane between listed buildings. Everyone stops and lets a few past before they take the initiative and push through themselves. No lights or any form of traffic control whatsoever.

The on and off lanes are clearly marked, and merging signs are often on the road surface as well as on the signs of the road, the clue to whether you can change lanes are the lines between the lanes. An broken line between lanes means you are allowed to swap lanes an unbroken line means you can't.

He was going well too fast down a country lane. Country lanes are everywhere that narrow and the rule is, don't drive at 30mph down them, he had to get out of the way as he was going to fast and could not stop and went up the bank and into the car that was going SLOW. You meet another car and one reverses back to a passing layby. th-cam.com/video/N54QnHX9Wdo/w-d-xo.html

The rise of Sat nav's has made more people watch the directional map, than the road. This happens in most countries now. Also some UK delivery drivers on contract with Amazon, are speeding to each delivery and causing near misses when getting back on main roads. Some trade people also rush from job to job and are dangerous too. The mornings rush hours from 6am to 8am usually has drivers that are late to work and they will over take in dangerous places to catch up their time.
The rise of in car CCTV has happened due to accidents and drivers maybe can't remember what happened after an accident, so its a valuable tool for the police to check who was right and who caused the accident. Its better to have a camera than rely on memory to save your ass from being fined, have licence points and or jailed.

yeah that's what happens when you drive on the wrong side of the road.
jokes aside, that barely avoided head to head collision on the small country side road was not someone going the wrong way as Brian assumed, it's just roads that are both ways but have space for only one-ish car, something an American cannot possibly conceive i agree. You're supposed to be extra careful and drive slowly, which locals knowing the road will never do. Happened to me countless times in rural france and other european places.
And yeah when that happens, you're supposed to back up to a point where both cars can cross, no swearing allowed.
Now a fairly large number of those incidents are actually shared responsibility, like for example that motorbike jumping full throttle from behind a stopped van and getting crossed from a car crossing in front of the van, he should have known a car could have come from there and not being able to see him at all, total biker pr*ck.

I remember when the British weren't so crude ... a generation ago. The abuse of the "f" word is part of the sad americanization of the UK.
I much prefer this (from "A fish called Wanda" (on YT): "Archie and Otto - Airport Scene" - KDO
