Sharla when you're doing these sort of japanese lesson videos do you think you could put the hiragana for what you're saying? I think It'd be really helpful, especially for someone like me who is attempting to start learning some basic hiragana! I'm sure other people who watch you might be trying to learn as well so it may help them too!

I wouldn't be so worried about people knowing more already Sharla, the best place you can start (if you're considering of helping people learn Japanese through videos) is at the very beginning really basic stuff and work your way up. People who already know certain things can wait until later videos and no one's left out, just make a playlist so it's all together for new people to the channel who would be interested too. 😊
I just wanna say that the part of the video about the homestay really reassured me and made me feel 200% better about my homestay in Japan that I'll be doing in a few days. Thank you so much!

Due to me going to a anime / Japanese culture club at my college, the person who ran the club (it's finished for the academic year) taught us some basic words such as fruit and vegetables, colours, transportation, directions and names of different places such as school ect. We called those Words of the Day and would usually do them before the main activities start which could be from watching anime or drama to activities relating to Japanese culture.
We also had a session were he taught us to write our names in katakana.

My boyfriend works at a factory here in America that is Japanese owned and they make Rohto eyedrops, and he gets to bring a lot home and hooooly crap, there is an "arctic" one that is so minty and strong, but after the burn it feels so nice! haha

Hi Sharla! Love your videos! Tomorrow i'll be japan for the first time myself and your videos have been great with planning! I am an eye doctor so I just had to bring this up. Products like Visine and Rohto are advertised as "dry eye" or "red eye" relief and it's true, they're vasoconstrictors and do that but with chronic use they can cause rebound hyperaemia (redness). Be careful with how much you use them :) Would definitely just recommend preservative free artificial tears or even get lenses in your glasses that block blue light. I know in canada the lens brands that do that are crizal prevencia and hoya's recharge. Again love your videos :)!!
I think it would be useful to learn basic travel phrases. Like how to order food, what to say when you enter a restaurant, or how to buy food from the convenience store. thanks! :)
Omg! This is my favourite brand of eye drops! I really like the mentholated feeling. Singapore doesn't have it sadly. So whenever I have the chance, I'll buy it from Taiwan or Japan.

I am only starting to learn kanji (albeit from RTK, so for the most part I am not learning any actual vocabulary) but being able to read and understand the kanji 品 at 5:03 made me really happy :D I'm making progress, however slow it may be! :D

I use an app called flux on my mac that gradually drops the blue light-tones on my laptop according to when I go to bed, it's pretty cool. Maybe better than burn-y eyedrops :)

I think I tried level 5 eye drops before and it actually felt great for me. Sometimes, I get too used to it that it doesn’t even wake me up anymore so sigh
I didn't know that black guy with the hat from Final Fantasy had a name. I just thought he was called Black Mage.
There HAS been a ton of new Sailor Moon merch since Crystal came out. And unlike with the 90s anime, the Crystal merch is more targeted to people who grew up with the 90s anime (adults, basically) than to kids. So while the 90s anime merch was mostly toys and snacks and oddly enough even some of those burning eye drops, the Crystal merch has been things like makeup and jewelry and even house stuff like the Sailor Moon x Isetan collab that happened not too long ago. So far the only merch I have from Crystal are a few CDs I ordered through CDJapan.

I can't believe I forgot this, but I had a friend back in the 80's who went to Japan, Okinawa specifically for a student exchange program.. She was a very pretty girl with waist-length almost blond hair. She was literally famous, because there were so few Americans in Okinawa. Everywhere she went, everyone knew who she was. then she came home, and would go to McDonalds and had to get used to not being recognized.... she'd be like "Don't you know how I am?" it was very funny.
