Awww the older man at his bar was so sweet! I loved how he wanted to show you all his pictures of himself when he was younger.🥺 Hopefully the next time you guys are in Aomori you can check it out!
Ellen's "WHAT?! WHO!?" reply to people not liking cinnamon cracked me up. She wanted their names and addresses to try and get to the bottom of the issues in that tone of her response lol.
I typically avoid store bought pies in the US because they're all loaded with cinnamon and I can't eat it 😭 It makes me happy that I'd be able to eat these when I go to Japan 😊
I know some people can’t have cinnamon because they’re sensitive to it, but I’m one of those people who just can’t believe there are people who don’t like it. You could put cinnamon on a dirty sock and I’d be tempted to eat it. 😂
I've been loving watching your videos alongside the Journey Across Japan vids! It's so fun to see a little behind the scenes, and your videos always have the best vibes! Thanks for taking us around Aomori 🙂🍎

I follow both Abroad in Japan and Sharla . I was wondering what Sharla was going to do while he’s on his journey and it’s so fun to see it from Sharla’s perspective. I’m really enjoying your guys content and I feel cozy too. 💜💜💜
Haha when I was in Aomori a few years ago we saw a cat sitting in front of that bar and that made us be brave enough to go in with our limited Japanese and everyone was so friendly!!
I love that after all the time you have lived in Japan you still enjoy visiting places and appreciating them as if it’s the first time. I thoroughly enjoy your travel vlogs especially so I can mark which places to visit when I finally come to Japan. Happy vlogmas! 🎄
It was great to see you not give up and make your own bar experience in your van at the end! Not sure when id ever visit Aomori, but you have showed us some great spots!
Thank you for doing the Vlogmas. It keeps me motivated as I’m working with no days off lately. So, I do a Chore that I don’t like or decorating, which I don’t have time for. Then I allow myself to watch your video as a treat as a reward for getting my stuff done. So thank you so much and happy holidays pretty lady. . You’ve made my life easier and more delightful..
Those apples are HUGE!!! I'm sure all of those Aomori snacks are oishii😋 Thank you for letting us tag along and I'm looking forward to the next Vlogmas episode 🍎❤🍏
I remember Chris made a video from Hachinohe where he and Risottoro were bar-hopping! Love the vibe of that town! That bartender you met was incredibly nice! Hope you get to stop by there later some day!! Glad you're having such a nice road trip!! Seasons greetings and warm wishes from Norway!!
Been in a sad mental rut lately, ended up realizing somehow got unsubbed from your channel so I resubbed and caught up on all your videos from the past few months. Didn’t realize how much your videos improved my mental state ❤️
Exciting! I haven´t been able to get the thought of those insane Japanese apples out of my mind since I did some of the "crowdscribe"-translations on the vlog you did with Ryotaro some time ago 🍎🍎🍎
I was in Aomori a few weeks ago and am already looking forward to going back. We bought two big bottles of cider from A-factory and demolished them in the hotel room… gotta get some more 😆
I started googling "panic in kamakura" (as seen seen on the shield above the entrance) after the initial bar filming scene, but failed miserably, and I'm so glad you showed us the actual thing at 11:05, much appreciated!
Stone Brewing sells their beer out in Japan!? Wild! I saw it once in Ontario and I thought that was far lol I also adore that you guys decided to essentially made your own bar experience when Kamakura was too full. So fun!
Its fun to watch your videos Sharla, and to move between your videos and Chris videos. I remember a video where you were together in a beautiful place with cider in Aomori several years ago. A-factory looks pretty cool, I also love apples.
Chris made the right choice! That Sapporo ume soure is absolute the best. I braught me two cans from Japan home and I hold on to them like a tresure. Don't know, if I will ever open them, wich is kinda stupid I know, but this is not available here in Germany. So I wait for the right moment. 😅
Love the vlog style with just walking around finding places. Its a much more authentic feel. I thought chris would be doing something similar is his videos. That being said I'll be watching both
Aomori always looks so lovely! I hope to visit next time I'm in Japan. I'm already drooling over those apple desserts😊 Ian knows what's up with Coolish!!
I've really been enjoying all of yours and Chris's videos. I've always wanted to go to Japan but Aomori is definitely on my bucket list after all the beautiful videos you've made there. ❤
Awesome adventure. We will be going to Aomori in March so this a great preview. A factory looks like a place to go and nebuta museum. We went to Sendai in July thanks to Ryotaro and Abroad in Japan. Thank you for the great info Aloha.
I recently found you're videos your adventures are amazing. My son collects Pokémon cards I love how there's so much Pokémon related things there so so cool
We used Hachinohe as a jumping off point to go explore the area, like Towada-ko. The coastline nearby is spectacular, as are the mountains inland. Regretfully didn't make it to Aomori city, but did manage to check out the area to the south. I really love these videos, it's like being on another trip!
I loved this video! I love Aomori. My relatives live in Hachinohe. I visited there every summer when I was younger. It holds so many fond memories for me. Thank you for sharing! 💕☺️💕
I like to imagine that with everything you've ever achieved and done in your life, when you've grown elderly and have young nieces/nephews or grandchildren or whatever, when they ask what you did when you were younger, Elder Sharla will be like "I went to Japan and looked at manhole covers!" :p A noble endeavour, if ever there was one. I'm enjoying these vlogmas videos immensely :D edit: "Some people don't like cinnamon." "What?! Who?!" _[/me, sweating profusely]_
My son just arrived in Japan yesterday. ❤ I hope his journey is beautiful. It's snowing now in Tokyo. Yes I'm a young boomer and it's January 16th 2024. I love watching your utube. And journey across Japan. Love to you both. ❤️
Love your content so much. Long time viewer. Please tell me what music it is on the end of the video. Merry Christmas to you and Chris and the cats! Xx
Such a fun vid today, thank you for sharing the adventure :) Also your skin is so healthy and glowy! How are you staying to hydrated with the thyroid? My skin is SO freaking dry, I do my routine and Im still flakey and cracking and ew.... ... And no one really needed to know that about and yet here we are.
I cannot believe how aesthetically pleasing the stores are in Japan. A factory looks awesome! Anemorie (probably typo, sorry) city looks beautiful. I would love to visit one day. You can't go wrong with apple pie. cinnamon is actually good for regulating blood sugar. I can't believe there's a tony roma's there. I have no idea what there's a Tony roma's here in south florida. This is a restaurant I would most likely visit if I went out with my family. it's always nice to visit different parts of Japan. Thanks to Sharla and Chris's vlogs. Thanks guys much appreciated. 😄👍
I just came back from Aomori a few weeks ago! Got so many apple snacks, ciders, etc. from A-Factory and had a yummy apple juice with beer from the cafe downstairs. Definitely will go back to Aomori.
Loved it. Loved the chill-out in the van with Pokêmon hands at the end too. Might the next J-A-J be a C&S Vanlife-esque chill-out tour sometime? Slower paced with a couple of 15-minute daily live stream installments to take the production stress away?
Those Hiba Wood bath salts certainly are inTREEguing ;) also, the unknown monkey Pokemon is Passimian! He plays (American) football! also also it's hilarious to me that you're opening English Pokemon cards when you're in Japan!
I lived in Kuji, Iwate for four years from 2000-2004, and we had a little local bar in town in some guy's garage where he also made nose flutes. He'd let us play them. They sounded better the more drinks you had 🙂
My mom and I just did Aomori for 3 days and stayed at the Daiwa Roynet (not far from the A-Factory and ASPAM building. So much local merchandise in both places. I had the Apple burger in the A-Factory which was good.

Lol!! I was coming to say the same thing. It made me bust out laughing. So incredulous. 😅
I typically avoid store bought pies in the US because they're all loaded with cinnamon and I can't eat it 😭 It makes me happy that I'd be able to eat these when I go to Japan 😊
That would be me. Im not the fan of apple pie to begin with, but if I knew it has cinamon - 100 percent would not touch it.
She's totally gonna be hunting me down. Not a fan of cinnamon at all! I'll eat it if I must but I actively try avoiding it
I know some people can’t have cinnamon because they’re sensitive to it, but I’m one of those people who just can’t believe there are people who don’t like it. You could put cinnamon on a dirty sock and I’d be tempted to eat it. 😂

I love that Vlogmas has basically become a Journey Across Japan behind the scenes vlog lol. It's been super fun and I'm really enjoying it!
The interaction with the bar owner was a) incredible and b) stunned me with how fluent your Japanese is!
Glad the pokemon cards saved the day after the bar was full! 🎉 You guys look like you are having a blast on the road trip.
They were so much fun to open, thanks for making our night!! 😍🙌🏻✨

The outro music transition at the very end of the video is too good. Love that.
Ahh thank you! Had fun putting that together hehe
These are so fun with you & Chris both!! Two times the fun, two times the vlogs!!🎄🎄🎄
something about that shot at 11:40 is very iconic

I’ve been to Japan in November, stopped at a little supermarket near my hotel in Tokyo… and can confirm the apples are giant 😂

13:01 instant isakaya! BAM!
Also on the Pokémon manhole cover - It's Passimian, Rockruff, and Geodude! 😁
youre so lucky having suitable friends. may the positive vibes stays over and over again. having people curse and sigh is not good.
The pokemon on the manhole cover was Passimian (from Alola region aka Hawaii) with Rockruff (also from Alola region) and Geodude.
I hope the trip has been going well!
So far so good!! 🎉🎉
