Patsy Cline is from my hometown of Winchester Virginia and my mom went to school with her and I remember exactly where I was the day she died in the plane crash 😢😢😢. My mom was heartbroken 😢😢😢. Our family burial plots are in the same cemetery as Patsy's. 😢😢😢

This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".

Actually she was flying from Kansas City to raise money for a disc jockey who was killed in a car accident and was good friends with her, because he went to see her in the hospital when she had her car accident that almost killed her. She was hit head on and she went head first into the front window. So ironic. So sad.@@miamidolphinsfan

Her best song BY FAR was put out after her death in 1962...SWEET DREAMS was ICONIC....so powerful...she recorded it right before her death and performed it in NY and then had the plane crash which took her life before it was put out to the public. WONDERFUL...you should really hear it...Crazy is beautiful and haunting but Sweet Dreams will blow your mind with how powerful it is.

Also, she never got to sing the song. But, Ironically and Loretta Lynn mentions this in her book "kickin up dirt" that they were riding around when "Leavin on your mind" came on the radio and was climbing the charts. Loretta jokingly said to Patsy "well girl it looks like you got leavin on your mind, where you going"@@JoeTyria

Some songs, as you rightfully point out, are so iconic, so wedded to the original artist that the dissonance caused by people hearing you and at the same time comparing you to the original - is too great to ignore. I think you are right - it would be - unless someone could somehow do it better? - a grave mistake to try to do a cover of a Patsy Cline song. Her voice is just too unique and unforgettable.

Patsy Clines is the standard all other female Country Singer are measured against. She's been gone for 61yrs now & people still buy her songs! She is the only singer who can cry & sing at the same time & still be perfect. Listen to "Sweet Dreams," & my favorite "Faded Love."
By the end of "Faded Love" you to will be crying with Patsy. She will break your heart. Patsy felt every song she sang.
There are 5 women in Country Music that broke the door down for the other female singers. They are,
    1 Kitty Wells
    2 Patsy Cline
    3 Loretta Lynn
    4 Dolly Parton
    5 Tammy Wynette.
You need to ck out all 5 of them.
Patsy & Loretta Lynn were best friends. Loretta was devastated when Patsy died.

The work ethics of singers and musicians from the earlier decades definitely shows. This wasn’t just a quick money scheme or an attempt to gather a following so as to be an influencer. These people worked on their craft night and day, more than most people work at their jobs these days. If we could develop the same dedication our fore-bearers labored the music industry could soar to new heights. Society’s love for money destroys everything it touches.

It’s so effortless, like she’s not even trying. Everybody in my family is a Patsy Cline fan because she was my grandparents favorite. Look up LeAnn Rimes, she recorded a song called Blue in the mid late 90’s, she was only 16. The song was written for Patsy but she died before recording it. LeAnn did great justice to Patsy.

Mack's friend Roy Drusky suggested he pitch "Blue" to Patsy Cline in an effort to make the song a hit, so Mack gave a tape to Cline's husband Charlie Dick, but Cline died in a plane crash in 1963 before she could record it. Great review 👏 Patsie was a legend, icon and phenomenal vocalist. Just a bit on this performance, it was a sound stage, you can tell by the wires coming out the bottom of the fake walls, and the musicians werent actually playing the instruments, she was lip singing to her single, this was common back then and even now today. They wanted the perfect take as most times these were live TV spots. Great job❤

If you’d like to learn more about her life while she was a young woman up until her death and all she had to overcome only to be killed so young plus an opportunity to hear many more songs watch the movie Sweet Dreams with Jessica Lange as Patsy and Ed Harris as her husband Charlie. The fact that she achieved so much success and is recognized by even my young children even though dying only 8 years after beginning her singing career and amazingly only 3 years after signing with Decca Records, the label that released the songs responsible for launching her ink American country singer icon status by using her the sadness she naturally conveys when she sings about love and loss. She makes you want to cry because of how much she makes you feel her pain and sadness. She’s my all time favorite singer from any genre. No one has ever come close to that kind of depth in their voice without laying multiple tracks. I wish I could have been alive to see her live at least once. Her story is definitely one to learn more about. It makes me want to cry now thinking how a gift like that was given only to be taken away so so soon! I visited her grave a little while back to show my daughter and the Pennie’s on it were piled high, 100,000 on the average size grave that you’ll miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. People still visit all the time. She was loved and I have a feeling you’re going to fall in love with her and her life as well!!!!

Reminds me why, for many years, unless Patsy Cline was on the jukebox, I wouldn't drink there.

That was a breath of fresh air. She was a legend, gone too soon. May I suggest Pink's new song " I'm all out od fight" It is not what you would expect from Pink.

Check for Willie Nelson's story of how he got Patsy Cline to sing the song for him.

If you see the head band she's wearing it's because she was recoverimg from a bad car crash.

To hear a modern day Patsy Cline, listen to Blue by Leanne Rhimes. She was 13 when she sang that song.

I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this but the reason for the headband is because she was in a terrible car accident where she almost died and she had a scar on her forehead for years and the headband was to hide it.

I heard that it was a compression band, She suffered from migraines and this at the time was supposed to help, and help with scars. Loretta Lynn talked about this in an interview.
