Wigs aside, this is probably one of my favorite collections in the past ten years. The blending of glam rock, 60's mod, rave culture, the 1700's, sweetheart 50's, and early-00's New Fashion is remarkable. The music's pretty sick too. 👽💜
i love how most of these comments are either throwing marc jacobs under the bus for 'cultural appropriation' or talking about how thin the models are, funny how only a few people are talking about the actual clothes
Of course. :) But it's not too bad for a start of a conversation & discussion, yes? Nobody can be the only person in this world who knows well of the fashion history and every fashionista has their own interpretation on the same fashion show. I don't think Marc Jacobs needs anyone else to explain or tell people what his show is about for him because it would be boring. I would like to hear what you really think of this show though.
freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
Nice show but it would have been nice to see variety... Some black girls and Asian girls and even some more Latinas. Asain ,blacks, and Latina models would have rocked these looks. Wish he would have put more diversity into his work
that's why I do not understand why designers take from those cultures. but want case models from those cultures. I'm like why even do it if you not going to use those who created in the first places
The... interesting styling choice evoked memories of Jacobs' spring 2015 show where models sported Bantu knots, with hair stylist and Redken global creative director Guido Palau telling the Huffington Post the look was inspired by singer-songwriter Björk (never mind that black people have been rocking Bantu knots as a protective style for centuries).
After spending the last few weeks looking at boring show after boring show, this Marc Jacobs collection (along with Maison Margiela) were the only ones that combined true creativity and (for the most part) wearability. Thank-you.
There were several African American and Asian models. Models in general are from all over the world. Fashion is an "appropriation" of all culture. That is what makes is beautiful! BTW I am of mixed heritage and I am proud of it.
We can all thank Marc Jacobs for making fashion week great again.I loved everything it all had a true design perspective. The jackets with embellishments, the high, high heels, the mini dresses and skirts. Everything had so much detail and character. Also, I was recently accepted to grad school at Central Saint Martins and started a gofundme, if anyone could donate or share the link that would be greatly appreciated. www.gofundme.com/paigecsm
eu adorava o marc jacobs, mas de uns tempos pra cá, tenho gostado cada vez menos. esse foi mais um desfile que quando terminou, eu já não me lembrava mais de nada que vi.
Clariccy Jones I'm not talking about the cultures. I am talking about something different in the runway from a high fashion brand, such as Marc Jacobs, in NYFW.
If this were to be done on half poc and half white, there might have not been so much of an issue. But in this case, the show was casted with primarily white models showcasing hair that Poc have to worry about if people will take them seriously or not. When another culture is represented on whites, it is praised and labeled high fashion. When poc wear their own cultural proudly, it is look down upon and torn into shreds. I just feel like Marc could of used different hair and ignore this issue entirely.
People who complain about cultural appropriation are racist themselves. They believe everyone should follow the traditions of their own race without any cross inspiration. That in itself is racist. I grew up gay and biracial in Kansas, so I know the brutal realities of discrimination. This is not racism, it's a fashion show. People whining about cultural appropriation are ignorant to world issues. If they knew what true racism was, they'd get off their asses, shut down the computer and help the thousands dying from genocide. You know, actual racism. However, that would require too much work. They'd rather be in the comfort of their own home and complain about fashion shows.
What made this whole hair situation worse was Marc Jacobs' completely ignorant and unprofessional response to the completely valid criticism of his show and its makes me look at the whole brand differently. On a positive note tho, why did Karlie and Adriana have to slay me so hard??
90s supermodels stop lying. I used to model in the past albeit never made it big and I knew alot of girls that were anorexic just to conform to the body standards. I knew girls that cried if they gained a pound. Hell I was thrown out of photoshoot for gaining 3 pounds prior to the shoot. I was told to lose 10 pounds, fucking 10 pounds in a week. Some of this girls, not all but some do suffer from eating disorder. I thought the anorexia look on models is starting to go away in mainstream modeling but I guess not. such a shame.
How can Marc Jacobs say he doesn't see colour, but then the majority of his models are WHITE and their hair is appropriating from a culture who is told that if they wear THE SAME hairstyle, that it is nappy, dirty, and unprofessional??? Marc Jacobs is a hypocrite. If you want to showcase the beauty of the hair, actually show it with more of the actual models from whom it originates from. Don't take it from one culture who are told it is ugly on and then put it on another culture and praise it. It's a shame because he has such a big platform. I'm glad people are calling a spade a spade these days.
Regardless of their origin, dreadlocks have been worn by nearly every culture at some point in time or another. Roman accounts stated that the Celts wore their hair 'like snakes'. The Germanic tribes and Vikings were also known to wear their hair in dreadlocks.
But we are not talking about other cultures who wore dreadlocks. And you want to know why? Because in THIS DAY AND AGE, dreadlocks is a hairstyle associated(negatively mind you) with people of African descent and they have the most notable and longest history of doing so. You don't see Vikings walking around Downtown ATL rocking dreadlocks. So when marc jacobs makes ignorant comments like, "Why don't women of colour get the same flak when they straighten their hair" just magnifies his stupidity. There is a vast difference between appropriation and assimilation. Black people had to assimilate to the euro ethnic culture in order to be accepted by society. Men have to wear their hair short. Women have to straighten it. If we don't. We lose out on job opportunities and get told we look unprofessional and unkempt. We had to conform to better our chances. Thats not the same as taking a hairstyle from a culture who is persecuted for wearing the same thing and then taking it from this judged culture of people and place it on caucasian models and then basically say "Now this hair is beautiful BECAUSE its on white models". But wait, "I don't see colour". I'm calling bull on that. If you want to showcase the beauty of the hair, also showcase the beauty of the cultural group from whom its primarily associated with. At least in that way people can ALSO see that the MAIN culture of people who wear it are JUST AS beautiful as the hair itself. People are so quick to defend and deny something when it doesn't affect them and then say we are overreacting when we have to deal with this mess on a daily basis!
Underyourbedeyes Okay. You don't get it. And you probably never will because you haven't had to experience the bullshit for yourself. But please...don't speak on something you know nothing about and then make comments like "black people are shooting eachother up in chicago. worry about that instead" as if we have to forget about ALL THE OTHER ISSUES because they're "NOT AS" important. The people who are bringing up this discussion arent bringing up this discussion because of fucking fashion trends! Thats NOT THE POINT! and you are further proving my point(that you are ignorant to the strifes of other cultures). When you've been told your entire life that your skin and hair will make u more likely to get arrested or that it will be harder for you to get a job, then come back to me with something other than a fruitless rebuttal. If you don't understand(which clearly you don't) then okay, now is your chance to learn that we aren't crying to the moon. But if you keep wanting to downplay our problems then just shut the fuck up and stay ignorant to yourself. Have a nice day.
I swear I am in no means of disrespect to the models or the industry but do they just want thin models because they use less fabric when having smaller bodies
Designers use thin models because the clothes look better on them, and because of their physique the clothes hang off them, like a mannequin, so the clothes look better.

I know these girls breathed the largest sighs of relief after the final walk was done. Those heels were giving me anxiety.
Wigs aside, this is probably one of my favorite collections in the past ten years. The blending of glam rock, 60's mod, rave culture, the 1700's, sweetheart 50's, and early-00's New Fashion is remarkable.
The music's pretty sick too. 👽💜
I can't stop watching this show. It's by far my favorite. Love the pieces.
best show this season, and good to see Karlie Kloss on the runway
this is probably the most interesting collection I've seen so far. marc never seems to disappoint.
ugh this is the worst camera work. some girls completely missed.
This collection is everything...two thumbs up!!!!!
these girls are brave. I probably broken my ankle before I got to the end of the runway
this collection is giving me life. love that hanne gaby returned to the runway this season!
This is the best show from NYFW. Hands down.
Beautifull models and beautifull outfits 👏👏👏
i love how most of these comments are either throwing marc jacobs under the bus for 'cultural appropriation' or talking about how thin the models are, funny how only a few people are talking about the actual clothes
It’s bc they’re basic
Kudos to all these models for walking in those Gaga-esque shoes.
Also the clothes are cute. Hideous dreadlocks though.
The dreadlocks are innovative and brillant tbh
"gaga-esque" are you 12?
yes gaga-esque did she stutter?
gUiTaR皿jAmS Her brain stuttered if she links these shoes to Haga
Finally, Karlie and Adriana!
I like it. The visual elements of Bowie in the 70s, Twiggy in the 60s, Bob Marley & Glam Rock beautifully blended together.
Of course. :) But it's not too bad for a start of a conversation & discussion, yes? Nobody can be the only person in this world who knows well of the fashion history and every fashionista has their own interpretation on the same fashion show. I like Monster High Collection x Marc Jacobs.
Yes very different with is Viking and Germanic and even Egyptian style hair.
Underyourbedeyes shut up please!
Princess Leveridge nope. free country.
Underyourbedeyes free where? Show me a FREE COUNTRY. 🍩☕️ I'll wait.
freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
4:19 Karlie Kloss 4:15 Jamie Borchet 4:43 Adriana Lima
Nice show but it would have been nice to see variety... Some black girls and Asian girls and even some more Latinas. Asain ,blacks, and Latina models would have rocked these looks. Wish he would have put more diversity into his work
that's why I do not understand why designers take from those cultures. but want case models from those cultures. I'm like why even do it if you not going to use those who created in the first places
The clothes would look the same... Which is all that matters. The point of runway shows is the clothes.
I saw a good mix of races. So not sure what you are implying.
How many model of color you seen in this show. if you was looking at the same video that I was. you did not see that many model of color in this show.
that's what I'm trying to say. for example they will cast 30 models, one or two of those model will be a model of color.
The... interesting styling choice evoked memories of Jacobs' spring 2015 show where models sported Bantu knots, with hair stylist and Redken global creative director Guido Palau telling the Huffington Post the look was inspired by singer-songwriter Björk (never mind that black people have been rocking Bantu knots as a protective style for centuries).
Nice Cut & Paste commenting...(Sarcasm). Get a life.
ITSFULLOFSTARS1 you get a life and get off of my comment. And PS: it's called copying and pasting. My phone which means I can do whatever I want.
Gigi looks like "i dont know what it is, im just wearing it"

best show of NYFW!
After spending the last few weeks looking at boring show after boring show, this Marc Jacobs collection (along with Maison Margiela) were the only ones that combined true creativity and (for the most part) wearability. Thank-you.
LOVING EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW!!!!
There were several African American and Asian models. Models in general are from all over the world. Fashion is an "appropriation" of all culture. That is what makes is beautiful! BTW I am of mixed heritage and I am proud of it.

i love the 90s baby doll dress meets rave meets harajuku.
something wrong with Taylor Hill... :o
She looks miserable D:
I don't think she was comfortable walking with the shoes. I think she was worried that she was going to fall
Minute?
1:33 and 8:19
she always walks like that, such a pretty girl with damn boring walk
Vera, Marc and Michael always have the best shows, amazing
We can all thank Marc Jacobs for making fashion week great again.I loved everything it all had a true design perspective. The jackets with embellishments, the high, high heels, the mini dresses and skirts. Everything had so much detail and character.

eu adorava o marc jacobs, mas de uns tempos pra cá, tenho gostado cada vez menos.
esse foi mais um desfile que quando terminou, eu já não me lembrava mais de nada que vi.

I felt 30 times with this video.
I particularly liked this collection. Something edgy and fun yet still wearable. And the music was fitting. I liked the opening, good walk.
This is what I've been waiting for... Something different 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I wish I could see fashion through Marc Jacobs eyes ❤️❤️
Clariccy Jones I'm not talking about the cultures. I am talking about something different in the runway from a high fashion brand, such as Marc Jacobs, in NYFW.
the future of fashion!
wow are you a fucking noob or what
3:36 Julia Nobis, 3:42 Ondria Hardin, 4:15 Mica Arganaraz
I feel like mix between Vivien Westwood+John Galliano+Christian Lacroix+J P G ..... LOVE IT ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
loved all the looks, amazing set, wrong choice of hair tho :/
The hair was one of the best! Wrong music in my opinion
The hair would of been amazing if it was on POC models. Having this kind of hair on mainly white models is cultural appropriation.
Would it still be culture appropriation if it was literally done on half poc then half white? Just an honest question.
I think the hair is inspirational!
I think Irina was the best, so confident and professional, wow, but other girls were great too
it's too cute, i'm in love 😻
sad thing is some folk will actually think he started a trend with the hair. like they think Bo Derick did with the braids!
Yawn...This comment has dust on it.
+ITSFULLOFSTARS1 oh my god leave. You so blatantly want to ignore the appropriation. Go to sleep white child.
only show I look forward to
These ladies looked absolutely ridiculous in the faux dreads. What was he thinking? There is nothing about the line that calls for the dreads. A mess.
I think he was going for was 90s club/rave culture.
I think their hair would've looked better with a bun on the top of their head...
But everyone does buns, its so tame and uninspiring. The yarn dreads are art works on their own.
its called fashion.. most of things in fashion does look ridiculous..
'''''-ok
Love the hair
i know that its too difficult to walk with those heels , but Sara , Adriana , Karlie and Irina were too comfortable and their walking were stunning 🌟
Adrianaaaaaa 😍😍
I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THISSS LINEEEEEE !!!!! I WANT EVERYTHINGGGG!!!!!

one thing good came out of this....nobody trip 😥
My clumsy ass would have flew straight across the stage
Sharp! Loved the hair! Good idea 💡 for long dreds, can't wait to try it!
Not the biggest fan of the clothes, but the music and stage set up is beautiful.
I'm just here for Karlie.
Lana Wachowski hair.
Yarn dreads & platforms.... lol. PLAYED THE FUCK OUT.
Taylor hill gigi hadid are amazing 😍 😍
Icônic ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Saving NYFW again.
What made this whole hair situation worse was Marc Jacobs' completely ignorant and unprofessional response to the completely valid criticism of his show and its makes me look at the whole brand differently. On a positive note tho, why did Karlie and Adriana have to slay me so hard??
And Irina!! Yes queen
Monkeybuisness97 What did he say?
They look so hungry and sad.
You look hungry and bad.
Nope, they do.
They're all most likely vegetarian and most top designers won't pick a model that's anorexic, they want slim, tall and healthy women and men
they all eat healthy and workout also most of them are naturally skinny none of them starve, aneroxic girls are banned so no
90s supermodels stop lying. I used to model in the past albeit never made it big and I knew alot of girls that were anorexic just to conform to the body standards. The real soundtrack of the show was Underworld - Born Slippy
FRUITS Magazine circa 1998 is the complete inspiration for this entire runway...

and before you play the ignorant card, go do some research on dreads. bye
I only play the cards as they are given to me.
I swear I am in no means of disrespect to the models or the industry but do they just want thin models because they use less fabric when having smaller bodies
Designers use thin models because the clothes look better on them, and because of their physique the clothes hang off them, like a mannequin, so the clothes look better.
Ghalia it's a satanic ritual mate look up the mother of darkness castle in Belgium then you will under the 1000 points of light....there all mk ULTRA sex slaves for the elite
Tianna Riches you need to research project manquine
✨ MAGIC ✨
me enamoré 💛💛💛💛💛
This looks like it came out of Zoolander's movie.
can anyone explain to me why models are required to be so impossibly skinny and tall?
like even if think of it in a profitable way
if i had a brand
then i would include of all different sizes
curvy,skinny,large, small
coz i think that would not just be profitable but people can actually see that no matter what size or shape they are
they CAN PULL OF THESE EDGY LOOKS!
i just dont understand why
why all models have to have the same requirement
and no i am not dying to be model
just curious
simply because outfits always look best on a tall and skinny person
OMG, those shoes are insame ❤❤❤❤❤❤ them
They look hungry😭 have a snicker 😂
I know this was met in major controversy.....But this show is great! Fashion a bit questionable though..... True Supermodels died after 2003. I have to give it to Marc though, he knows how to put on an old school 90s show on.
By the way does anyone know what this track is called??
