I drank Rockstar lemonade flavor and Monster citrus in high school almost every day to supplement my neurostimulant meds (I have Narcolepsy) to stay awake through my classes, and my friend always asked me if I had "toxic waste piss." He passed away in a car accident shortly after we graduated. it's been 10 years. so as weird as it is, thanks for reminding me of him today. that made me smile.

NOS has always been my favorite energy drink. It’s the perfect amount of caffeine and the best tasting on my opinion. It’s such a complex yet simple flavor at the same time. Kinda like how Dr Pepper is

Surge, OMG! I went a big high school in the suburbs of Kansas City. (There were 525 in my graduating class.) I graduated in 1998. There were SURGE representatives that came to our school at set up a booth in our cafeteria for a few week. They gave out merch; keychains, can koozies, t-shirts, sunglasses, pens. Then we got three Surge (only!) pop machines.
Working overnights in a warehouse during the holiday season is the prime way to test all these drinks out. I finally settled on C4 peach mango, effectively dethroning Reign (which had beat out Bang). Remember kids, the caffeine limits need to be taken seriously and be careful how many B vitamins you're taking in!
The whole b vitamin thing isn't as huge of an issue. B vitamins are water soluble and anything past 100% daily value ends up being urinated out. Anything past 100% DVA just makes your pee extremely expensive
he only took a few sips of each only 2 had high caffeine level Reign and Bang . all but the high caffeine ones had a shit ton of sugar. he was more than likely buzzing from sugar
You did get the wrong flavor of Bang 🤣🤣🤣 I use to love the Cotton Candy and black cherry. I started having high heart rate and couldn't sleep...so I stopped. Haven't had one in a very long time. I only ever drink it if I need to be sleepless for a very long period of time.
mocha loca coffee monster, mean bean monster, lime or grape NOS, white zero sugar monster. pretty much only ones i drink. the reason these energy drinks "work" is because they have caffeine and B12. whats B12? it is the vitamin that your cells use to put the sugar in your bloodstream to work.
What did we learn? Matt likes sugar better than artificial sweeteners! I'm a no sugar guy myself. I rock an energy drink almost every morning along with my coffee because we Gen Xers are getting old! Still, my choices based solely on flavor are about the same as his. Monster Zero Sugar Grape and Orange are the best. But they are not my typical drink. Because Viper (which I was disappointed not to see) tastes about the same as the others and is half as expensive! Mohave Rattler is my personal favorite.
There used to be a company called Venom that would name each flavor after serpents. It wasn’t bad, it worked, and was relatively cheap. My favorite was the sugar free version, the “Mojave Rattler”. I liked to call it “The Taste that kills small rodents”. Btw, real life Mojave Rattlers aren’t tasty, and they are really nasty. They’ll make your day very bad, and possibly very short.
Monster Zero - Ultra Sunrise is the absolute best energy drink for taste and lack of jitters. I feel like Matt would also enjoy for the smooth, orange flavor. 🍊 Also, how long did it take to peel him off the ceiling after filming? 🤣🤣
Matt is the hero we need right now. A spark, that will light the fire, that will bring subpar energy drink makers down. Matt's next 2 challenges should be reverse energy drinks and alcoholic energy drinks.
Side note, Surge is back in production, but hard to find, and Monster just deluded their drinks and the flavor changed slightly. Used to be 2 servings per can, now it's 1 per. Also the Taurine is in high end drinks is there to keep your heart from exploding.

I use to drink this energy drink back in the early early 2000's or late late 90's (can't remember) called Dr. Enuff. It was so good was only on the market for like 8 months or something before the FDA pulled it due to "health concerns". The first 3 ingredients was (In this order) 1) 100% pure cane sugar 2) Indian Ginseng 3) Caffeine
In the 6th grade, my classmate could not start school before he drank 6 - 8 energy drinks, and he'd drank at least 13 before school ended. I worried for his health so much!

It was a mess, but early subjection to sugar can have negative health effects, so it was a shame really. Juice is good, if you like it, I hope you're now able to have it whenever you want!
I drink at least two energy drinks a day. I absolutely love the Monster Energy Ultra Violet and there are only 10 calories in each can. I have had NOS energy and it’s ok. Never tried any of the other brands. I also think Matt should try all orange drinks and rate them.
@Jessica B. Bang has like 500 different flavors. It's definitely a trial and error to find the right ones. Some are great, but some taste like ass. The Radical Skadattle is my favorite. It tastes like liquid candy.

When I tried Monster for the first time being my first energy drink it felt like I went from a standard TV to HD.
Needs to try the PeachTea Monster and Bang is really good, pretty sure that flavor is going to be good as well.

Venom energy is very rare to find but I love that energy drink
In the 6th grade, my classmate could not start school before he drank 6 - 8 energy drinks, and he'd drank at least 13 before school ended. I worried for his health so much!
I have a tachycardia just thinking about drinking that many energy drinks!

After I looked up that medical term, I can wholeheartedly agree! He was always so jittery and unfocused, but he'd become defensive if you tried to rationalize with him. I felt that it was partially due to a lack of parental supervision, but he drank that many every day of the school week!

It wasn't a very official school. We didn't have a cafeteria, only 8 picnic tables. We didn't have a gym, we used the neighborhood park across the street. We didn't have a library, and we didn't even have enough textbooks to use daily! We didn't have a nurse's office, or a nurse, just a half-empty first aid kit. It was a mess, but early subjection to sugar can have negative health effects, so it was a shame really. Juice is good, if you like it, I hope you're now able to have it whenever you want!
Those drinks are VERY expensive!! What parent would pay that much EVERY day???

Some flavors suck, but I love about 2 or 3 flavors. They're delicious.
The only flavor i like is the cherry one. But even then its not good. And bangs make you feel like you're having a panic attack

Redbull got me through a 48 hour Tri-State Scavenger hunt, i drank so much that it now makes me sick, i cant even smell the stuff.
I drink at least two energy drinks a day. I absolutely love the Monster Energy Ultra Violet and there are only 10 calories in each can. I have had NOS energy and it’s ok. Never tried any of the other brands.
I also think Matt should try all orange drinks and rate them.
The original Monster always does me justice. I would have to drink the tall red bull to feel anything. Bang is really good though.
@Jessica B. Bang has like 500 different flavors. It's definitely a trial and error to find the right ones. Some are great, but some taste like ass. The Radical Skadattle is my favorite. It tastes like liquid candy.
I have watched…TO THE END….a number of “Bless Your Rank” episodes hosted by Matt Mitchell! I can say, every day of the week and twice on Sunday, there is no one’s taste buds that I trust more, than Mr. Mitchell’s. Plus, it seems pretty obvious that he has had ample opportunity to develop into a world class judge of Southern fare. HOWEVER, he has given me reason to question his pallet after hearing his opinion on Bang energy drinks!! Matt, have you lost your ever loving mind!?! 🤣🤣 Bang is far and away the best energy drink out there!! Just kidding!! Love the videos…✊🏻stay Southern!! P.S.- Yes…Virginia is a Southern state!! At least everywhere south of Richmond is!
