    Thanks for the video, I got one of the school’s baritones for marching and it’s filthy! I’ll definitely try this out later

      I agree bro! My marching baritone belongs to my school and the people who used it before me didn’t take very well care of it.

    Im a beginner wondering how you get high and low notes outta this instrumwnt and how to tell how to play a high or low note with the same fingering and get a diffrent sound

    • @DRXSSYOUUP
      @DRXSSYOUUP ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tighten your lips and speed air for higher notes and loosen lips for lower notes and use a tuner

    Is it okay to clean the baritone even if I can only get one tuning slide out?

    • @DDMultitracks
      @DDMultitracks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Barber I wouldn’t. Just because you really want to get everything out of the Instrument. With a snake. And the drying process is really important. You can try using a small cloth to pull the slides out.

    • @DavidJNowak
      @DavidJNowak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes a tuning slide will "stick" because it is vacuum locked. Press down on the nearest valve (usually the one closest to the mouthpiece), and it will come free.

    • @thomasbarber5655
      @thomasbarber5655 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve slightly solved the problem but not quite: I got a newer baritone and all the tuning slides came out, but last week my second valve tuning slide went from super loose to super stuck and I can’t get it out. It’s not vacuum locked it’s just frozen all of a sudden….

    • @DDMultitracks
      @DDMultitracks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I mention polishing but this step wont apply on any brass that is liquored over. Process is the same, the slides may be in slightly different locations.

    Can you clean your baritone with warm water, mouthwash, and a cloth? It’s my first year playing this instrument. Also how often should you clean the instrument? Thank you

    • @DDMultitracks
      @DDMultitracks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Smokin_Sausage01_ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ I would highly advise you to not use mouthwash. Just because it has alcohol in it and alcohol can very much remove the lacquer and make the instrument look very dull. I clean mine more often than others, but I would keep it to about once a month. It’s really when I go to the Away camps and come home when I would clean it more.

    Marching Drum Corps back in the '70s , when we were fortunate enough on tour to sleep at a high school gym where they left the hot water on for the locker rooms during the summer, the hornline would usta hafta shower with our horns. Chunks always came out , then the full hornline sound was cleaner.

    On my baritone, which is a jupiter quantom marching baritone, on the A1 Slide i thing is what you call it according to google, is a slider thing that is hooked up to the valves and when you press and hold this button, the slide comes out a little letting you fine tune a note while you play. But since it’s connected to the slide, idk how to take it off. Also, the B1 slide i’m guessing which is the one on the 2nd, just won’t come out. I don’t know if it’s supposed to come out but there’s a crevice like where the slide would come out from. You don’t have this type of baritone but i’m just wondering. 8:17 Also, watching this physically hurts me.

      JJ Clark usually the thing that holds those slides in are screws. You would need to take the second valve slide out. If you can’t do it. A shop might have to do it. Also it really isn’t bad at all for the instrument if it’s on the bell. If you are outside. It’s bad because it can fall over. But on a bath mat monitored. It’s really not any cringe. You will learn when you are older.

    I guess I have a Euphonium and I’m mistaken? I thought I had a baritone, my teacher calls it a baritone. Or is mine just not a marching baritone? Very confused.

    • @DDMultitracks
      @DDMultitracks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lilette it depends. There are marching baritones and marching euphoniums. This is a marching baritone. I am not sure what you have. But the instrument in the video is a baritone. A large bore Yamaha marching baritone.

    • @jjclark56
