I lost it when you were playing imperial march because I'm here learning how to triple tongue for that piece
haha Funny :D Well, hopefully this helps brother!
Would've been better w/o the annoying music
Snuklens0 let him do it how he wants. He's trying to reach younger age groups too
Arin George shit was way too loud tho like i could hardly understand the dude with his accent without the music
Tonguing does not apply to edm music.
Maybe yes
For Timmy trumpet
eat ass loser xDDDd so funny hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I agree
Thank you very much Matonizz for your videos. I know that these things take a lot of time until it get done and uploaded . I appreciate your effort to help us to improve our techniques. I'm amateur player and I learned the wrong way how to use my tongue that's why I can't play fast notes. I really like all yours videos. Thank you very much once again. God bless you.
I liked the tutorial, but ... the annoying background music
Yeah, I'm not using it to this extent in my newer videos, sorry if it's distracting
The background music is a distraction from the instruction being given. I could not finish listening to the video.
I have just purchased a euphonium. This video was a tremendous help. Thank you so much. Stan
How’re you doing with euphonium now?
yo, give us an update
we gotta know
Dude, this was so helpful. You have no idea how thankful I am that you made this video, thanks man. I love your work! Keep it up!
Pedal register and how to use that to improve the upper range. Tuning with another player in a section, alternate fingerings for low register and tuning tendencies in the low register
Your like a magical topic box buddy :D Thanks for cool suggestions! I liked the tuning question a lot! Thanks for watching and participating!
Always come back for refreshing with this video, one of my favorites! Thank you Algirdas
Thanks Alex
literally a demi god, very talented, props to you
Thanks for your videos and tips. But please consider to get rid of the music in the background. I would be able to follow your words and playing better without the background noise. And I don't see any use of it :) cheers
It’s really loud and annoying lol
Os anos se passam e seus vídeos educacionais sempre me ajudam a tirar minhas dúvidas, parabéns pelo trabalho incrível👏🏼
I need some advice. I play tuba as well, and I’m terrible at tonguing. Any advice on what syllables you’re using? Also, maybe I’m not using the correct technique, but I am told that it’s about the airflow being consistent, and the tongue moves freely? Also, how do you tongue the lower octaves so cleanly?
1. Amazing video! 2. When you're playing, the music in the background is a little distracting but great for the intro. 3. Is there a possibility you might talk about dynamic markings? My band back in middle school used to have trouble with it, and maybe some other viewers might get valuable info from a video like that. Keep up the good work!
Hey buddy! Thanks for nice words and I really appreciate the feedback! Also, great suggestion for topic! Will put that on the list. Thanks for watching and supporting brother!
How about how to Practice a solo or etude from scratch. personally I think it should be called "How to Avoid Rehearsal Tragedies"
You have such a good channel and its very helpful... I don't understand why you dont have over 100,000 subs!
Joseph Thouvenin Unfortunately, the Baritone is a very unknown instrument to non-band people. I was surprised as well when I saw people like this guy and Steven Mead only have 4,000 to 5,000 subscribers.
After 23 years of play I still shake with nerves when playing in public, would love to know how to deal with that.
Hey Joe, I've made a performance anxiety video so check that one out:
th-cam.com/video/ppx60r8oCnI/w-d-xo.html
I will make more in future regarding this topic. Anxiety topic is probably the most personalized topic to talk about. There is always an easy solution! Not quick solution but easy solution. I could throw one of those "play in public more" type of advice but I think they are often useless, at least it was when I was working on anxiety aspect. With all honesty in order to give you a really good advice I would need to know much more details about you as a player. Good starting point would be to gather as many different tips and methods how to deal with stuff and experiment until you find something that will help you to deal with nerves. Again, not to get rid of it but deal with it. Once you successfully deal with multiple times you will get more confident and the issue will go away or at least decrease. Sorry for lengthy explanation but I hope this will make some sense to you and potentially give the idea of the path you need to take. Best of luck with your journey buddy!
Matonizz Thanks
Sure Joe!
Andy my advice is that if you’re good at practicing alone, and are familiar with what you’re practicing, think of it as a practice. You know what you’re playing, and if you mess up, just keep on playing. Know one will notice unless you make it obvious. I know it sounds harsh, but have the mind set as if you’re practicing solo.
Deep breaths
Great Video. How about Tongue Arching by Vowel sounding
How to play different dynamics easily . Ex A louder ff and a soft ppp
Good one!
Excellent.
Congrats for 1k subs!
Thanks buddy! I actually wanted to give a shout out to people who supported for that in a vid but this one was prefilmed, will do that in the upcoming one. Either way, thanks a lot!
Matonizz Nothing! ;)
Grazie!
I suggest how to read Tenor Cleff
tried to learn but got stuck im groovin' to that sick beat
Sería bueno facilitarás subtitulos. Muchas gracias por toda tu ayuda.
wow ive been watching you for a long time and just realized your in RCB. my professor dr kiser is in as well i just never made the conection it was you
Small world :D That's awesome man, just when I though I have unique looking hair for euphonium player :D I know Brian is often bringing students along, if you're in next RCB concert come and say hi. It would be cool to meet you!
ha you do have very nice unique euph hair. oh yeah i will gladly say hi when i go, for i need to go my last one was your fourth of july concert
Very interesting video, but I could not bear the music. Can you please upload the same video without the disturbing music?
great as usual!
Thanks David!
You sound great! What mouthpiece did you use in the video and is it the same one you use on a daily basis?
Thanks for the video. Near the beginning you demonstrated the tongue between the teeth. Most of your comments were about keeping the tongue low in the mouth and out of the way such as using the anchor technique. In the double and triple tonguing section of the video you explained the difference between Da Ga and Ta Ka which both have the tongue start behind the top teeth. I heard 3 different ways of approaching this. Is that what you are saying? Sometimes anchor tonguing, sometimes between the teeth and sometimes behind the top teeth? I'm trying to settle on how to fix my own issues with this so I'm being serious. Thanks!
"Da" can be said with the tongue touching the teeth or touching above the teeth. Above the teeth works best for me.
Where should exactly the tip of the tongue hit to articulate, between teeth, upper teeth, lower teeth?
Leyder Vargas Mostly top but on top of bottom
Tip of the tongue on the top of the teeth just notice where your tongue is when you say that
Parabéns me ajudou muito obrigado
Thanks for good tips.
I am not equally grateful for the annoying background noise.
Por favor haz un video con subtitulos en español. Muy buen video
Is it normal for me to be able to single tongue way faster than I can with double or triple tonguing. I’ve noticed I can single tongue fast than some of my friends when they double tongue
Please which book are you using ?
So where should our tongue be
In your mouth
Haha you said exactly what my band directer said not to do
Wait how to I move my actual tounge faster?
Practice, dude, practice.
I’m not that good at reading treble clef, is there any exercise with bass clef
Hey does underbite affect your playing
How to sustain breathing and good sound when doing long slurs?
Show
for breathing, think the word woah
How do I improve clarity on lower notes. And how do I play them loud and with a great tone.
Nice!
Open up the back of your jaw
I’m so sorry, but can you explain to me one moment. I’m used to say da-ga-da da-ga-da not the da da ga da da ga. Is it correct or I should to retraining? Sorry my English)
@Matonizz the link for arbans method book does not work. How can I get the pages so I can learn how to double tongue??
Hi friend, check this:
imslp.org/wiki/Method_for_the_Cornet_(Arban%2C_Jean-Baptiste)
Hey I keep trying the excercises and I try to do the GA's and Da's but I'm not sure how to implement them it's very hard for me, I have to learn how to double tounge in 3\2 for ET but everytime I try i can't get it down
Hey Eric, how long how you been learning the multi tonguing techniques for? It usually takes some time before it becomes functional. Do you have Arban method book? It's absolutely best book for double and triple tongue learning hands down. If you don't have a copy shoot me an email and I'll send it to you. Best, Algirdas
I never understood the point of triple-tonguing. I get that double-tonguing facilitates speed because you're alternating between the front and rear of the tongue, but triple-tonguing requires two consecutive "dahs." If I can do two consecutive "dahs" quickly, why not do three? It's like double-tonguing is like throwing a left-right combination in boxing, whereas triple-tonguing is like left-left-right, which can't be as fast as left-right-left.
personally, I find dah-gah-dah, dah-gah-dah faster, like how a left-right-left will be faster
2020 anyone?
Do you play the euphonium in treble clef?
Yes he does
everytime I articulaid < dunno how to spell it I hear this like clicking sound of my toung is that good or nah?
and its like there is also some air what is loose
Think of saying "Ta" when you tongue, if air is loose then that PROBABLY means the corners of your mouth are not firm enough. However it could instead be your bottom lip being rolled too far back.
You should turn up the music next time
Thai sub please.
the intro confused me
I do trombone and I'm the only one who struggles lol
Vizionix YT I feel your pain, and I play tuba
I play tenor saxophone and this is hard
R.i.p my tongue
Well there’s my problem. I’m a bassoonist playing my baritone horn with the tip of my tongue
6:27 yup, my adam’s apple…😅uh
No clue what he means by lowering the tongue...which part of tongue???
TEACH
So the thing is... I can’t go that’s fast. I can’t even rub my stomach and pat my head at the same time. It’s like a tongue twister for me if you get what I mean. Like by doesn’t sound good
Where do u live, state wize
Pittsburgh PA
it is hard to pratise
Thank you, but that background "music" is beyond distracting.
0:17 is so funny
I couldn't hear anything you said over the music
Someone called my uephonium a tuba
I hate it when that happens
That’s cuz a euphonium is a tuba don’t deny it
11 minutes in before he mentions possibly which part of tongue he wants lower. Sheesh.
Okay if people touch thier toungs to their lips for tounging they need a new teacher to begin with
1 Millinion Like!!!
Thanks a lot Alex!
comment 100!!!!
Viedeo is very helpful but I almost couldn’t watch it because of the awful background music. Please report without it 🙏🏼
I'm going to say this, Since I, a brand new viewer would like to point out some things when you post content. People don't want to be talked to about what is why and why it's caused, People want to know how to do it, a way to practice it, and not be given a lecture regarding one subject of musicality. Especially 18 minutes, while most university professors teach you in 3. Stop wasting both mine and your viewers time, we value it as much as you do. Don't let that be the reason why nobody watches your videos. Stay to the point man...
You can't do it if you don't know why it functions because everyone's body works differently. Let me correct you on some things:
1. University professors would NOT do it in 3 minutes Lol, more like 3 days and even after that they wouldn't tell you what you need.
2. 18 minutes is extremely short
3. You need to understand WHY it works to know HOW to do it.
Angel Ensefalon This was mostly wasted time for sure.
12 year olds pissing them selves laughing
Background music is very annoying!!
Please turn down that background music, it overpowers your presentation but also very annoying....
Mate, dropped the dumb beginning and the awful music 🤮
I bet your girlfriend has nice things to say about you.
Wait, are you telling me you tongue by touching the tip of your tongue to your lips?
Dreadful
... He literally said to not do that
Your repetitive background “music?” Is distracting and annoying. I’m almost halfway through your presentation and you haven’t said where the tongue should be. I’m sure in between the lips, as you’ve demonstrated twice, is incorrect.
