- The MV HEPHAESTUS was a Bunkering Tanker built in 1965 sailing under the flag of Togo.
Its carrying capacity is 885 tons Her length overall is 61.32 meters and her width is 7.93 meters.
The Hephaestus wrecked during a severe winter storm on February 10th 2018 at Qawra Point in Malta.
It was scuttled in Xatt l-Ahmar on August 29th 2022 and has now joined her 3 sister wrecks MV Cominoland, MV Karwela and MV Xlendi.
The wreck lies upright and has a maximum depth of 46 metres.

Great shots of the new wreck. I've read about it and already seen pictures. Do you have more detailed information about location, depth, dive time and technical data? Would be nice!👌
Hey Patrick , thank you once more . It is obviously a deco dive but an easy one . If you want to see the whole wreck including entering it then of course expect long deco . Preferably a boat dive even though doable from shore after a long surface swim .Max depth at the stern 45 metres and an average of 35 . On that day we had a mild current running west which i expect to be the norm given its location close to the channel . I dove on Nitrox but normal air is ok if you are used to long deco. Located in Xatt l-Ahmar , Near Mgarr harbour) right next to Cominoland and Karwela wrecks. After a few days only , a few damsels were already on the wreck . Lots of dirt and particles especially inside , viz so so . I hope it helps . Thanks again Patrick
