Thx ! It has 6000 M/S shot speed and devent absolute damage at short range (around 1km). It is useless at 2 km, but still, it makes it the only good Guardian weapons worthy vs human ships.
@@phoenixjamiexera That was the plan ! :D But close fights are good ones. The tension when you come to the end... I also missed my shot! There are many bad days and sometimes few good days. Another close fight vs Krait here in case you are interrested ;-) th-cam.com/video/B5Fb9o7px2w/w-d-xo.html
Tense fight! Main issue with these Plasma Chargers is the falloff. Forces you to stay close range and take a lot of fire. I use them on small ships as lots of them have a two class1/two class 2 configuration which suits the Modified Chargers, but having to remain under fire makes it pretty challenging as you can't use a shield given your distributor is already saturated.
Exactly that, yes !! But it is the beaty of this game. Tweak ships, make compromises and try to lead your opponants in the fight parameters that suits you the best. This one is far from an OP set up, but I really enjoy flying the FAS!
Hi @Jaek. I made a few builds for the FAS, sort of variations on your build. I'm relatively new at this so would like to hear what you think if you have the time to look over the builds. I haven't been able to share them here for some reason (maybe cause it's blocking the sharing on links? it's just from coriolis) let me know how to share if you are interested, I would really like your thoughts. 1st (higher armour/shield, higher mass so slightly lower boost speed) 2nd (more hull-tanky with slightly higher shield, lower module reinforcement percentage but similar module reinforcement integrity) Both are focused on high absolute hp values as, from what I've heard, plasma accelerators are the most commonly used pvp weapons dealing largely absolute damage (60%abs/20%therm/20%kin). Also I wanted to ask why do you use the 2B guardian plasma charger instead of the 3C? Just wondering as I have yet to get these and test them out. Thanks again, my passion for this game has been reignited and I am looking forward to participating in various aspects of the game I had not yet, and I have you to thank in a large part for that.
Thank you for your nice words :) To share your builds from Coriolis, on the top right, there is a "shortlink" icon to click. You should then be able to copy paste the "Shortened" address. If it does not work, maybe if you have Inara profile you can share the link of the ship, but you will have to create it. Here is my build, shared from coriolis if it can help : s.orbis.zone/kz7w I use now the Guardian Plasma chargers because I find them easier to use, even if they are only size 2, and can't be engineered for experimentals like "Target lock breaker, or Thermal conduit". For the FAS, with a size 6 Power distributor, the good number is 2 of them. I tried with 3, it is ok but harder for PIP management. Since FAS is really average in shield tank, I use a bi wave shield, again to ease the pressure on Power Distributor, and use more often PIP to ENG and WEP, but it needs you to try be more evasive... for HP, you are totally right with the absolute value aspect of the hull. Even though, I prefer fly with a more balanced hull (abs is 3160, res are all a bit above 40%). I am sure it is not the most optimal set up, but with weak shields, my biggest threat is getting my modules sniped, so I saved 2 size 4 MRP and 1 size 2 MRP to protect my modules, so it means less hull points. I think it is possible to evade PA shots, with training, but impossible to evade rails, so I made this compromise ... But it is details, I am sure your builds are valid and would be happy to look at them. The most important, however, is to know where you are strong and weak, and try to lead the fight and keep it in the domain your strenghts are optimised and weaknesses reduced. FAS has superior Vert/Down thrusters, so use this to your adantage, and learn to time when to recharge shields, Weps, or ENG during the passes. I wish you good time, trying, experimenting and fighting o7
@@jaek5903 Hi Jaek, I tried sending them again but it didn't work for some reason. I wrote a fairly detailed response commenting on those and other things but it seemed to not actually post again. I tried again using both coriolis and edsy's short link but that did not work either. I have ported the ship builds to inara so you should be able to find them under "USER411382", however, unfortunately as I'm sure you know, you won't be able to see the stats there for each build. So after doing some tinkering and calculations I've decided that I like your version of the reinforced shield build the best. I have created a few different variations and I will detail them below. The first uses a single grade 5 guardian module reinforcement, to obtain similar module reinforcement integrity, slightly lower module reinforcement percentages, and a substantially increased hull reinforcement. Another version I looked at was a version using two smaller guardian module reinforcements, to obtain similar module reinforcement percentages, and a moderately increased hull. And the final version with an emphasis on hull reinforcement. I look forward to engineering my ship and trying out these builds, I think that this is a very fun ship to engineer, given the high amount of flexibility and variety in the builds possible as you said. Also, how long does the typical pvp fight last with these highly engineered ships? Say with a chieftain vs FAS or FDL etc. The reason I ask is because I found that the longer the fight continues, the better your shield build becomes, as the more MJ you can squeeze out of that Bi-Weave. Given that pips are effectively managed in order to obtain optimal recovery and recharge rates, and to mitigate damage from incoming barrages; your reinforced shield build ends up being the best, comparatively, in terms of survivability, at about 20 minutes from my calculations with this ship. I have created a spreadsheet in order to calculate the number of shots from plasma weapons and rail guns each build can take and over varying durations of fights, factoring in shield recharge rates. I would be happy to share that with you also if you are interested.
I love the FAS I think it’s my favourite combat ship, I’m gonna have to try out this build, I really like rail guns and I think the guardian plasma chargers would suit me well as they seem to handle a bit more like rail guns with the increased velocity. I’m fairly new to pvp on this game, but how would you say the FAS compares to the top dogs in pvp fdl etc. In general and with this build? Great video, very impressive skills and a very nice build.
Hard one to answer. FAS flight model is the one I enjoyed the most so far and from far. Maybe because for some reason I still cant get the best of my FDL. I find classic meta Prisma fights boring too, so my opinion is biaised. Beating a good FDL pilot, who knows what he is doing is VERY VERY hard. But FAS offers more possibilities (hybrid, hull tank, silent Running...). The most important is to enjoy flying your ship. But if you consider pure performance #1 is FDL. Then you can consider FAS , Chief or then KraitII as challengers. Chieftain being the most forgiving one and nice to train with. Some will put Krait above FAS or chief, with good reasons (perma boost, lots if internals for shield or hull tanks builds, big hitting potential). but the most pleasant is FAS !!
@@jaek5903 yer I think I like the setup and flexibility of the FAS. Also the looks, centred cockpit and style and the fact that it’s not the most used for pvp. Would you say you like the hybrid Hull tank set up for the FAS the most or what’s the best in your opinion?
Its always the same with these gankers, they cant fight a fair 1 vs 1, and when they for once, and are about to lose, they run of pathetically even through there are the one who started the fight.
