    Are you familiar with the esoteric/occult aspects sprinkled throughout the film? This helps understand the "over the topness" and Count Orlock's looks better.

      I know enough and spotted things, no doubt I'll spot more on a second viewing. I just didn't like it.

    Agree - feel like people just like it because its eggers - not creepy/ scary and 2nd half drags

      Yeah definitely. Like Ari Aster, Robert Eggers' grow on you and reward repeated viewings and I thought that might be the case here but I think it ultimately fell flat.
      Everything good here Francis Ford Coppola already did with Bram Stoker's Dracula which I think is a far superior film. (Less said about Megalopolis the better though!)

      @ I agree oldmans Dracula far more sinister and a lot more watchable film - I think eggers is marmite taste but masterpiece gets thrown around far too easily and too soon - I think masterpiece films take years to appreciate
