Are you familiar with the esoteric/occult aspects sprinkled throughout the film? This helps understand the "over the topness" and Count Orlock's looks better.
Yeah definitely. Like Ari Aster, Robert Eggers' grow on you and reward repeated viewings and I thought that might be the case here but I think it ultimately fell flat. Everything good here Francis Ford Coppola already did with Bram Stoker's Dracula which I think is a far superior film. (Less said about Megalopolis the better though!)
@ I agree oldmans Dracula far more sinister and a lot more watchable film - I think eggers is marmite taste but masterpiece gets thrown around far too easily and too soon - I think masterpiece films take years to appreciate

People like it because it's brilliant. Opinions vary, as they should.
