A "leader" in a Kpop group doesn't mean someone who is the main person, the leader is the person who is responsible for keeping the members in check and acts as a kind of liaison between the company/their manager and their group. Traditionally, the leader is the oldest member, though that can change if a younger member shows leadership or good communication qualities. There are no "main" people on Kpop groups, they have roles like leader, main/lead singer, main/lead rapper, main/lead dancer, but there are certain people in the group that get way more exposure than the rest.
NCT (Neo Culture Technology) is unique in that their concept is that they have an "infinite" number of member that can be made into different sub-groups (NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream, etc.). It's a new concept, coined by the CEO of SM Entertainment, NCT's label (though other companies have tried this, no one has really marketed it in the manner SM has). This means that the leader role can change depending on who is in the group. For NCT 127 and NCT U, the leader is Taeyong, the one with pink hair in Cherry Bomb and the second to rap. In NCT Dream, Mark, the one you see most often in Cherry Bomb and the one you commented about, is the leader.
Every group works similarly to what I mentioned in the first paragraph, but official positions (from what I've seen) aren't as important/prominent as they were in the past. If anything, it's more of an introduction to the group when they debut.
Some CC tips: The presence of subtitles depends on the company. SM Ent. usually do NOT have subtitles on their official videos, so if you do want to have subtitles for videos from them, I suggest going to an unofficial subtitled video. Companies such as BigHit Ent. (BTS's company), JYP (GOT7's, etc. company), and (I think) YG Ent. (BLACKPINK's, etc. company) have subtitles. If you do want to watch with subs, your safest bet is to check if the official music video has a CC button; if it doesn't, you should look for an unofficial subbed video (just add "English subs/translation" or something of the like to the search bar).

NCT U and Dream are rotational units (member line-up is not permanent) so they technically do not have leaders. NCT U line-ups change depending on who fits the concept, so for example: the recent Baby Don't Stop comeback was only Taeyong and Ten, but Boss featured Taeyong, Mark, Jungwoo, Lucas, Jaehyun, Doyoung and Winwin. If we look back a few years, Without You was only composed of Taeil, Doyoung and Jaehyun, since they are some of the strongest vocalists in NCT's entire line-up (applies for Timeless as well). So, NCT U does not have an official leader and same goes for NCT Dream! Dream members must be 18 years or younger, so Mark will soon "graduate" out of Dream, whereupon Renjun will be the next eldest member. While the Dreamies have sometimes referred to Mark as their leader (or at least act that way ;u;), there is no official leader since the member line-up will constantly change as time goes on. To clarify, I think we should say that certain members have acted as leader/with great leadership in units NCT U & Dream, but those two units in particular do not have appointed leaders since the line-ups will always change.

The leader of NCT 127 is Taeyong, the rapper with the pink hair. There’s also a unit called NCT U, and Taeyong is also the leader of that unit. I really recommend watching the dance practice or a music broadcast stage video of this bc the choreography is my favorite

Oh no trend, it's honestly just the norm for K-pop, M-pop, and J-pop, more strength in numbers. It's been this way for a while and it honestly just helps the choreographers have more people to construct a dance to be visually appealing and astonishing. Also it's great to have numerous singers, rappers, and dancers just so they have more variety.

SM Entertainment MVs never have subtitles on the original video. If you want subtitles for MVs from those artists you're going to have to search for the MV name and English subtitle on TH-cam.

the one rapping a lot his name is Mark Lee. he is the second youngest in this unit, born in 1999 from Canada. he is one of the two main rappers. Lee Taeyong is the other main rapper and he is the leader of the group aka the one who is responsible for and oversees the group, making sure they wake up on time, practice, etc etc.
Theres not really a set member per se that gets focused on the most. And this is for all k-groups. There are members that r more popular that get more screen time for sure. But thats not always the case. Each person contributes something to the group. Some r vocals, rappers, visuals (aka they represent the group/being the most visually appealing), and dancers. some r good at being funny, some are really cute, some are really masculine, some are good at speaking, etc. And they train for years and years and years. then they r split up to make what i call a “super group” because they fit different peoples likes because they can do basically anything. I.e i like taeyong bcuz he is a sweetheart rapper but some people like johnny because he is really funny. Etc etc etc. Its a really long drawn out process to make the perfect, visually appealing, talented group that sings raps and dances for the most part. :)

The guy you were talking about is Mark. He is in the rapper line of the group. He is Canadian and only 18 years old, a 1999 baby. Very talented at his age.
In Kpop there isn't really a Main person. But everyone has different roles, so yes, there actually is a leader! In this group it is Taeyong (the other dude that raps with the pinkish hair). For bts it is Namjoon (Rapmon).
Often kpop idols are catagorized in roles like;
Visual
Vocal
Dance
Rap
Leader.
When idols are catagorized in visual, dance or leading to also have the roll of either rapping or singing.
So basically a leader is not the main guy. What a leader does is keep things organized within the group, keep the peace and sometimes even lead the practices.

Alaxing yeah there are really no MAIN members in a group but i would like to add the fact that there is a CENTER position in every song that has a choreo. In this song, it's more likely Taeyong is the CENTER but in the MV, Mark gets lots of screentime because he have more lines which is why he looks like the 'main' guy in here.

If you wanna see more dance from artists, I recommend you view their performances instead. MV's don't show how much dancing they really do. It doesn't seem like they dance much but they're dancing A LOT and that dance is pretty intensive.

I had the exact same reaction lolol The beat reminds me of Humble, and, funny enough, it was made by an American producer who worked with Dre and Kendrick! The leader is Taeyong (the guy with the pink hair), but in kpop being the leader has more to do with responsibilities than shine. Mark is the main rapper and the chosen one of this generation for the company, but he's the youngest in this group, so a "main" (featured a lot) but not the "leader" (responsible for the group). And if you want to see their dance skills, definitely check out their Cherry Bomb Dance Practice Bomb Ver (focuses more on the choreo)! The MV doesn't even show half of the choreo, and the dance practices were what got me into the group!
I know you said you don't like the NSYNC kind of boyband, but I'd definitely like to see your reaction to a new American boyband called PRETTYMUCH. Lots of ppl think they're a very kpop inspired, but lots of other ppl just feel like they're a return to the older American groups like NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. Yes! To add to what OP said, it really depends on the company. SM pretty much never has subtitles on their MVs, neither does YG. JYP & BigHit on the other hand always do.
Edit: if a group is from a smaller company then usually their MVs also get uploaded onto the 1thek channel where there are usually subtitles, too.

I just recently joined the NCTzens and OMG!!!! THIS FANDOM IS LIT!!!!
NCT 127 is a sub unit from NCT. there’s 3 sub units so far: NCT U debuted first with Taeyong, Mark, Taeil, Jaehyun, Doyoung and Ten. then NCT 127 debuted with Taeyong, Mark, Jaehyun, Yuta, Winwin and Haechan. then the babies of NCT debuted in NCT Dream with Mark, Haechan, Jaemin, Chele, Jisung, Renjun and Jeno. THEN!! NCT 127 came back with the song “limitless” with all the same members but adding Doyoung back and new member Johnny. All of the members of NCT 127 have been the same for the past few comebacks already. All of these members of each sub unit so far all trained together and they were called SM Rookies. NCT members are the SM Rookies that have graduated and got put into the group. Mark has been in all 3 sub units so far.
NCT is an unlimited member group, apparently lol. We don’t know if there’s going to be new members in the future but there’s only 15 that we know of so far. but yes, NCT divides into sub units so it won’t get too crazy. it won’t be one huge group with all 15 members lol. or at least I think, we don’t know lol. but their sticking to their sub units for now.

it's not a trend, it's really just up to the company. you could be placed into a 9 member group like twice, or the company would want to try something and you'd end up in a group of 13 or 12. I would say the average is 7 members, but like I said, it's up to the company and what they want your concept to be. some groups do have 6 members (astro) (previously day6) and some have four (blackpink.) there's a group called akmu which isn't really a group, more of a duo, that consists of siblings. there are also solo artists, so I wouldn't think it's a trend :)

You should check out a performance they did ware the sound guy screwd up and they wound up performing this song at about 1.5x speed. You can see some members with shocked faces or trying to hide smiles like (were really doing this?...lol) but they all just go with it and it's a nearly perfect performance. Its pretty funny too. Usually the leader of KPOP groups is the oldest member or the one who trained with the company the longest, but being the leader doesn't make u the main attraction of the group. The leader is basically the manager of the group while they're on stage or tours, they keep everybody on one accord and they speak for the group the most during interviews or award shows. In KPOP, they have what is called the "center" of the group which can also mean you are the visual ("best-looking" member or the one who will most likely pursue an acting career), but also means you get to stand in the center for photo shoots, the most during music videos and are the face of the group. For example, Taeyong is the center of NCT I believe so you will see him the most often during MVs and he is most often dancing or singing in the middle. The guy who you were asking if he was the leader’s name is Mark. Although he isn’t the leader, he is the main rapper which means he gets lots of rap parts in their songs! Kpop does have leaders who are the people who speak for the group and they have leaders of who are in charge of different things in the song (if that makes any sense at all lol). In BTS, for example, Rap Monster (or Namjoon) is the leader which means he’s the one who introduces the group and talks in interviews. RM is also the main rapper which means he is the one of the members who gets lots of rap parts. Suga (or Agust D or Yoongi) is the lead rapper which means he also gets lots of parts like J-Hope or Hoseok, the other lead rapper. Not only is J-Hope the lead rapper but also the main dancer and a vocalist! Jin and V (or Taehyung) are the visuals (most handsome) and the vocalists. Jimin and Jungkook are the main and lead dancers and also vocalists! They all play different parts in their group and have their own strengths!
