    I've owned several budget projectors and the PJ40 is the best I've had under $250 (I got it for $210 on sale). It is much brighter and better color/contrast than I expected and is great for backyard movie night (with a supplemental sound system). I've used it on a 135" screen and the kids and wife love it.

    In Game Mode I measured the latency at only 12ms and it was fine for Call of Duty.

      Gen 3 is best but console gaming is best the way he's doing it through his computer it's like casting your phone so a delay is exacerbated but ps4 or Xbox play great.

      @@edgee400yeah, I tried Gen3 with my PS5 and was pleasantly surprised. This was my main concern with using this instead of a TV.

    Thanks for the review! Are you sure the input lag was 200 ms? Even on game mode?
    Another popular tech reviewer had the PJ40 with game mode on and auto keystone off, at just 14.4 ms.

  • @davivman6009
    @davivman6009 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I have a gen 3 and it is great for watching movies. The latency is fine for games if you place the projector in the ideal location and don’t use keystone adjustments. I have to rely on keystone since my projector placement is too high. The latency added by keystone adjustment is too large for me to enjoy playing a game.

    Just a heads up the rubber feet are supposed to come off so you can mount it on the ceiling with four points instead of the flimsy tripod mount😂 it has four screw inserts under the rubber feet. In case anybody was wondering.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can undo the feet, but the rubber pads shouldn't come off from them :)

    This is what I bought for my projector, Gator Cases Padded Nylon Mixer/Gear Carry Bag with Removable Strap; 12" x 12" x 5.5" (G-MIXERBAG-1212). It is a perfect fit, padding is okay, outside pocket for remote and cables. Made of excellent cordura, should outlast projector easily. Like that it comes with shoulder strap. Fits nice & compact when I pack for karaoke shows. Was $36.50 when I bought it a couple months ago. You can probably find such a deal online.

  • @peca89
    @peca89 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    How's the focus consistency when you compare top and bottom part of the picture and the projector is tilted. Standard tilt angle that corresponds to fully extended adjustment leg and projector placed on horizontal surface. I'm asking because PJ20 is very bad unless it is perfectly horizontal.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll find that the more screwed the image is the harder it is to focus once keystoned.
      First the most important is the distance from the projection wall. The further away the bigger depth of field. then keystone settings will decrease the image size causing pixels to be recalculated for new areas which may result in digital blur.
      I had decent impressions and sharpness but I only had to lift the projector a couple of degrees.

    At this point of course you should get a 4k streaming stick. The projector does a good job of handling 4k video. Can you even get a non-4k streaming stick these days?

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Other then possible bitrate improvement, the final resolution is still the same. I'm not that fussed about 4K to be fair. I would be, if the projector was 4K in native - but then we are talking about much more money :)

    I also have a question about the positioning of this projector. Should i place it only in the center, or I can put it on the side a little bit and than adjust the angle? I want to use it in the bedroom and dont want to put it on the wall above my head)))

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The projector shoots straight so it will expand equally in each direction - if you add an angle to it, you will need to use keystone feature to correct the skew and in result you will lose some of the resolution

    Thank you for the review. I'm looking at getting this projector. One note: the latency is in most reviews measured at 50-60 ms, but that's still grey area for FPS gaming.

      A quick update: we have made a few changes since the review last year. The projector now boasts a higher contrast ratio and approximately 20ms of low latency. Hopefully, it will be reviewed again. If not, we can post a testing video in our channel's monthly FAQ section.
