Thanks Graig for clarifying the importance of collecting what you like and not to focus so much on the cards that will probably always be hobby relevant. Many collectors that love the hobby may not have it in their budget to buy the Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson and Mickey Mantle cards. I believe the reason your channel is so popular is because you are genuine. Your unique personality shines through as it is not about you as you always want to include others. Your channel is the Cheers of the TH-cam community where everyone loves to come together to get away!! You are the Johnny Carson of the card community in how you bring people together and make them feel welcome!! I appreciate everything you do to make the card hobby awesome!!

Good video Graig. Your channel is unique in the sense that most of your videos are made based off of questions that you receive from viewers. It’s much more interactive than other channels. And that’s why it stands out I believe. Thanks for the video and thanks for sharing some great cards in your collection.

I have pretty much collected cards in isolation until TH-cam came along. It has been great to hear from you and other collectors what they collect and like. I believe it has opened my eyes to a lot more variety in the hobby. Thank you for creating a “community” where I can connect and hear from other collectors. Sometimes I get influenced by what I hear and sometimes not, but I believe I enjoy and know more about the hobby because of this forum. Thanks Graig!

it always comes back to collect what you like. display what you like. binder what you like. honestly very few people will ever see my collection unless i decide to sell it. my kids arent going to get wealthy if they sell it when i pass on. I like thumbing through my 1977 topps HOF collection and looking at my childhood stars. Rose,Morgan, Reggie ,those cards are what i pulled from packs. The livestream was great, great guest, great comments and very entertaining to watch. it didnt come acroos has a "these are the cards you should collect and nothing else matters " to me anyway. it was a topic that sports card friends could discuss and debate in a light hearted manner, like friends do about any other subject. you're one of the best youtubers. keep doing what youve always been doing. thanks Graig

Well said Graig, it seems obvious at face value that we can’t only collect the future-proof hobby relevant guys, but sometimes it’s not always as obvious as it should be, and we need to remind ourselves. While future hobby relevance is certainly an interesting debate and thought experiment, it’s only one of a thousand different guideposts that a collector could use in this great hobby. Your 51 Bowman Irvin is gorgeous. Huge congrats on the epic Baugh addition! 🤩 Enjoyed this one, pal. 👊

Graig, thank you for talking to all of us like an equal. After all we are all just collectors, collecting what we can afford. Great video!
I few random thoughts for you. First, I love that like me your favorite card(s) are not graded and that most of them are not signed. Personally, I like them better that way. Second, I really appreciate that you can find joy in such a wide range of cards.
Off topic, I have been focused recently on three things: 1) consolidate my collection, 2) figure out how to display the vast majority of what I keep, and 3) continue to very carefully add only cards that I will truly treasure and keep long term.
It is very interesting where this is taking me. I am moving on from a lot of graded cards because they take up too much space. I am rediscovering cards that bring back great memories. I am finding new ways to connect with my three daughters in cards, mainly is the non-sports area, but also in sports. It is safe to say that I am really enjoying this journey.
To be honest, I think you have inspired me along the way. I remember watching my first Midlife video and thinking “I don’t know what to make of this, but I think he has something potentially special here!” Glad you keep going and pushing your boundaries.
As aways, thanks for all of your videos!!!!!

New to the channel in last two weeks or so. I’ve learned a ton from watching about 10 of your vids so far.
My 80 year old dad wants to unload the collection we put together from 1989-1993. Debating what to do with the “major” cards (PSA/SGC/CGC?), as well as the “mids” (keep raw and deal away or eBay?)
I’ve found your discussions, topics and facilitating are refreshing in the vintage space. 👍

Hi Graig, Amazing cards man, vintage football😳 my eyes are open now. I think your talking point of relevant on the live show were well thought out. For collectors that are in the hobby and love vintage/modern, cards mean more to us. Ran into a long time friend today, during our talks he asks about what I’ve been up too. Long story short, 1st question was … do you have any Babe Ruth cards. My buddy is a car dude, and sports are not his thing. I just hope with all the kids involved in hobby👍as we were at their age, they will also one day be into the history of the game. You got my vote for talk show host of the year😎

Great cards, Graig. Whether you show 1, a few, or 100. The meaning isn't, just in the numbers. Though I would say, you do share thoughts often, too. As do I. Just in a different (text) format. However, I have been on TH-cam, for nearly 15 years. That's a cat's life.
I've seen many come and go, not just in this community; however, I have supported many in this community, too. And I do know what a hall of fame channel looks like. But, I wish the best for everyone, for their induction in the 2025 YTSCHOF class.

I had the chance to hang out with Roger Craig while watching Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals with the Celtics at the Lakers. Celtics were down 20+ at half and Roger said, “Twenty points is nothing in the NBA!” 😂 Sure enough, Boston roared back and won that game. He’s a great guy and was super fun to hang out and chat with! Happy to hear a good dude like him was your favorite player. The first 1,000 yard rushing and receiving in one season running back was a great player and is tragically underrated in the hobby and NFL history!

Nice Baugh’s ! Now Graig, I don’t think you need to over think the popularity of your channel. Since the beginning you have always said you wanted to create a community. And that is exactly what you have done. It seems everyone feels involved. You always answer all the comments. Highlight community’s questions and answers. Another positive I’ve noticed, very few to no haters or trolls ! Which seems to exist on most social media platforms. All I can say is “ way to Go ! “ I personally think you’ve done a great job finding a way to share any information that may be of interest to collectors of all levels and interests. Think about it, who gets a Sammy Baugh Rookie as a gift ? You must have done something right to earn that respect from someone. Right
Keep up the positive back and forth involving the community, it’s been awesome for us too.

I wouldn't let comments get you down. Ultimately, people will collect what they will collect. Some may only want to pick up iconic cards and cards of iconic players. Maybe they are more value/ investment conscious and only want the big cards that will likely never lose their value. I collect HOFers and don't necessarily care about hobby relevance. I have guys like Rick Ferrell, Chick Haffey, Dave Bancroft, Fred Lindstrom, High Pockets Kelly, Ray Schalk, Max Carey, Ross Youngs, Jesse Haines, and others who some collectors would scoff at. I don't anticipate their cards ever having any significant value, as they are the low shelf HOFers, but I am super happy to have them in my collection and will continue to collect them. They are important and relevant to me because of my collecting angle. Someone who only collects the Cobbs, Wagners, Gehrigs, Ruths, Jackies, Mantles may turn their nose on a Heine Manush, but to each his own. T9 a certain extent, all HOFers and other important player like Curt Flood, and the Black Sox gang, will always be relevant and thus collectibles because of their place in the history of the game.

I think the non-relevant players will always be ‘relevant’ to collectors like us because they are super affordable.
Yes we all want a Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, Mays in our collection. But those guys are expensive so the majority of our collections will be the next tier of players.
Last month I bought a 1975 Topps Brett Rookie as that card will always be hobby relevant. I also bought a 1977 Topps Andre Dawson rookie as he’s only relevant to someone who grew up watching him in the 80’s. If it weren’t for the Andre Dawsons, and we only collected the GOATS, we would all have 15 cards in our PC and maybe buy 1 or 2 a year. What fun is that? Yes, we love quality and the big cards, but quantity and smaller cards is just as satisfying. The key is finding the right mix of hobby relevant and non-relevant that fits our budgets.

My collection is almost completely hobby irrelevant. While everyone else is trying to get a serial numbered Ohtani I'm trying to get a better Travis Hafner. While others are trying to get a Johnson Bird rookie my best basketball card I've gotten in 30 years is a Les Jepsen. While others are trying to get a Maholmes I'm bidding on a Cody Mauch. All these cards fit a property I'm looking for? And collecting hobby itrelevancies just means lower prices.
