    Thank you so much for talking about Palestine; it can be daunting to know how/what to say, but I think just opening the conversation with compassion and empathy like you've done is so important. There is so much room to grow and learn from each other if we make the space; the more open we are collectively as a community, the closer we get to collective liberation. No one is free until we are all free, Free Palestine!!!

      1000%. I think in order to welcome people to joining the conversation and challenging the things they maybe have seen all over the news & mainstream media it needs to feel safe for them to do so - leading with empathy and compassion over shame and othering❤️🇵🇸

    obviously your commentary on palestine is the most important thing you brought up in this video, and i don't want to distract from that, because it's important, not just to me but to all of us. that being said, i just want to say thank you for acknowledging the juxtaposition of resorts in tropical countries in the global south. being from the caribbean, the way tourism affects us isn't really acknowledged by people in the core, and i appreciate it when folks do at least give it a passing mention.

    • @leechuts
      @leechuts  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I definitely will look into that more - its so strange having gone to resorts as a kid with my family and not even being conscious to the greater context of where I was to now going back for the first time as an adult and feeling the bleak contrast of these resorts with the countries/people that are obviously being exploited. I have no idea the depth of the problem as of current but it definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth just witnessing it. Thank you for your comment❤️

    I knew I started following you for a reason and hanging onto the words you say. I respect you so much for talking about Palestine, even though you feel as though you aren't educated enough you still shared your piece and that was more than enough. I received my stickers from you a few days ago 🥰 all the way in Newfoundland. I appreciated your note as well, made me tear up a little lmao. ❤

    It's always good to talk out your feelings, even if it's hard and the audience is terrifying.❤ Just remember, while it's important to be educated and know what's going on, you don't have to feel guilty or heavy all the time. It's important to have balance and make space for interior joy without guilt for the exterior world. Also, "Emotional Constipation" is an amazing phrase. I may have to borrow that.

      Thank you for this🥹❤️ 100% - just as important as the things we do for the good of the world is the things we go for the good of ourselves.

    it's so satisfying watching you draw those fish, but also as a traditional artist, it's crazy to see how much freedom you can have with digital art. Like if it was in pencil, you wouldn't be able to easily erase tiny scales like that, very interesting 🥰

      tootally - I love digital for its ease, but traditional will always have a soft place in my heart even if it isnt as convenient - its worth it🫶

    That moment at the start of the vlog where you were a long ways out from the camera reminded me of zooming way out while working in CSP, to where it's like you stepped back 20 feet, even though you're still sitting right there. I'm also reminded of the time a guy trying to sell me a car didn't say it was a stick, then he tried to give me an impromptu stick lesson in order to save the sale. I'm convinced that competent stick drivers are like magical creatures, even when they're just driving to Target. I'm old enough to remember the Camp David Accords, and the 3-way hand clasp between Begin, Carter, and Sadat.

    it is better to try and speak up not knowing if you have all the right words to say than to not say anything. we do need spaces in life whether online or irl where we can relax, but we cannot become numb to the atrocities happening across the globe. palestine, sudan, congo- to bear witness and to use our voice to legitimize the severity of the genocides happening is more powerful than one might think. especially with how news outlets and governments continuously use language to minimize and "both sides" the situation when that is clearly not the case. the questions we can ask ourselves are exactly what you're doing now. what can you do, how can you use your resources to help, how can you continue to educate yourself. the way we get through all of these atrocities is to see it as a marathon - we must pace ourselves, and exactly as you said a key element is understanding empathy within yourself and how that can translate to others. thats how we build community which is what we all need to continue to live. appreciate you, thank you for this vlog and looking forward to hearing more about your patreon when its ready to launch!

      aa🥹 I was anticipating your thoughts on all of this - thank you❤️ I definitely have a lot to learn but I feel warm knowing people like you are in my audience, watching with such compassion and gentleness and grace - approaching these issues in such a way is a beautiful defiance to the powers that benefit from dividing us. Appreciate you sm❤️

    Leech, well done for speaking your truth. We must remember our Ukrainian friends who continue to stuggle too. The world is unfortunately very fucked up, and if we can help, we should i believe.
    The park was lovely, your geese looked very chill. We have some crazy geese in Aus too, im pretty sure it's a global goosey phenomenon!
    Looking forward to your Patreon (and your podcast!)

    You didn't try to shame but you definitely did. As an Israeli artist I don't feel comfortable to continue watching your channel. It will not be respectful for my sisters and brothers who got shot, tortured amputated and kidnapped on the 7.10.2023.

      @@leechuts Thank you for your comment. It's vital to acknowledge both sides of the story and stay informed to remain true to the facts. However, we must also address the suffering of Jewish people due to antisemitism. Israel is the only Jewish state where we can truly feel safe, and it's a home for Jews, Muslims, Druze, and Christians. We have no other place to turn to, and the terror organization Hamas seeks to eradicate us. Why isn't this being discussed? We are trying to protect ourselves, while Hamas hides in tunnels beneath Gaza, using innocent people as human shields and misappropriating aid money for their own purposes.
