I offered my friends $100 each to help knock some things out and help me organize some stuff over the weekend. They didn't mind. They also didn't take the money, I just paid for meals. Although they are caucasian working in those fields, Latinos and blacks predominate and are usually at the bottom of the shelve. Many years ago I was at Jamaica Station waiting on the LIRR to get to Manhattan. An older white guy started talking to me and I stepped towards a garbage receptacle to get rid of a candy wrapper. He said "ls that what you do?" I said "what?" He said " cleaning houses." My response " No I am a Social Worker" I am black!
