    Just did one today on a 2010 chevy traverse, I was going to remove the manifold but decided to try slipping it out the passenger side without even touching the manifold. It worked great, all you have to do is remove the oil filter and the knock sensor then you can pull it out enough to disconnect the wires. Saves a lot of time and you don't have to fight with rusty manifold bolts.

    Great job, looking at replacing a starter on 2012 GMC ACADIA, don’t know how to and went to Amazon and saw your comment and said to go to your TH-cam page which I did. How you did it, I might get a mechanic to do it, don’t know how much it’ll cost. Thank you again.

  • @jimcasada
    @jimcasada 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was looking to change the spark plugs on our Enclave when TH-cam flashes up this pretty young girl replacing a starter. So of course, I had to watch it. Actually, this video is very well done with everything you need to know in the text captioning, without dragging out long mundane tasks you see in a lot of other TH-cam videos. One suggestion: I would never craw under that car with just 2 jack stands holding the whole front end up. I would suggest chocking the rear wheels first and using at least 3 stands (adding 1 in the middle) or 2 stands for each side.

    On my similar 2012 Buick Enclave, I removed the cat converter - that’s all to get starter out (no need to remove oil filter or sensor). If you turn & tilt starter just right, it will slide under sensor. Need long extensions & swivel to get top cat bolts. I removed cat & starter from underneath.

  • @brucesalisbury222
    @brucesalisbury222 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a really good helpful video but removing the exhaust manifold is an extra step you don't have to do. Once you got the cat moved to the side the rest of the job can be done underneath the vehicle. There is enough room to remove the 2 15mm bolts holding on the starter but you have to take off the knock sensor first. The knock sensor is held on by a 10mm bolt close to the oil filter.

    • @glitch4283
      @glitch4283 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't do anything with the exhaust manifold, just removed the oil filter and the knock sensor. You then have plenty of room to pull it out.

    I don’t know why but there are 15 videos saying to do it this way and only 1 (the TRQ video) shows how to actually take it out from the bottom by removing the front motor mount and motor mount bracket you - don’t have to mess with the catalytic converter or exhaust manifold - 1000% easier better with no chance of breaking bolts….. please don’t do it this way!
