My dad was SR conductor went to Chatt Tennessee around 125 miles sometimes the law got em depending on the stops that were required, also if they were low priority.
A LOT of Variables are in effect on a Daily basis. Most have Nothing to do with the Train or Crew working on it. Mechanical, MOW Work, Vehicle Accidents, etc. 🤔
@@kens.3729 yes I’ve seen a crew take over 19K in Peru and only make it to Lafayette were they ran out of hours because they were having trouble with there mid DPU.
How far the crew takes the train is dependent on the length of the district. For instance, out of Peru they go to Bellevue OH about 200 miles, Decatur IL about 180 ish?, honestly not sure if they have rights to Elkhart. Fort Wayne to Bellevue 118 miles, FTW to Cincinnati 200 miles, FTW to Chicago 140 miles, FTW to Detroit 130ish miles. Bellevue to Portsmouth OH 200 ish miles, Bellevue to Peru 200 ish miles, Bellevue to Conneaut OH 120 ish. I might be off on a couple of these as it has been a minute, but I am close. I worked many years FTW to Bellevue, and you would think 120 miles with a track speed of 50 for freight, 60 (then) for intermodal, you would have no trouble getting there in 12 hours. You would be wrong. Many days we outlawed half way there or less. Good video.
@@schinbone0 I know they bring a crew down from Elkhart to take 18K now 30N from Peru to Elkhart and the same with 19K a crew will bring it down from Peru then a Peru crew will take it from there.
Neat video spike 👍👍. Hey I was wondering, on the first train in this video, what are the smaller NS cars ? Their black and not real long, are they a power unit? I’ve seen them also when trucking corn to the Andersons ethanol plant there along highway 25.

Many chassis are seen at Oakville ON going into the Ford Motors truck plant. Same thing at Oshawa ON where GM has a truck plant.
I grew up right by the Oakville plant and spent many days exploring the yard over there 😊

@@therailroadtiespiker Ah, thats what I was thinking. The Wabashers have no rights in Elkhart then. I could not remember how it worked. Thanks.

Looks like a coil shield car🧐
@ oh ok, yeah I’ve seen those before and thought they looked kinda odd.
What? They put rail bogies directly on road trailers, can't say I've ever seen that before, must save on weight lol
@@sc0tte1-416 it was a very cool idea but unfortunately they ended the Roadrailers last August.
CP ditch lights don't have to work?

When was this filmed? Original triple crown?
