On both Blue and Believe they use vocoder, those were the 2 songs where it was used as a stylistic choice when they were first released not as a "crutch". But even though most people don't understand the difference vocoder is not autotune.
Thanks for saying they do it on blue too. Nobody ever mentions that one. I know Mitch is good at mimicking certain sounds and instruments but you can tell his voice in blue has been altered.
@@PtxXtp They did that as an homage to Cher. Kirsty said she could not believe they got to share a stage with Cher, she was afraid she would forget how to sing, lol
@katyvalco4774 I know that's why they did it. I was just saying nobody ever mentions that they do it in the song Blue too. Most reactors don't catch it and fans only ever talk about Believe when they explain in the comments.
Yes...they did use autotune for the Cher's Belive portion because Cher was the first to use it. I'm not sure if she used it on that song first or not. Their medley's are so great!! You should really check out some Superfruit medleys as well. HipHop Goes Broadway, Evolution of Lady Gaga, Evolution of Miley Cirus, Plus the Frozen Medley and so many other wonderful pieces that Scott and Mitch did together.
You have to watch them perform this 90’s Dance Medley live at the Hollywood Bowl 2022 concert. It’s amazing! I would go as far as to say it’s better than the studio/video version. Here’s a link: th-cam.com/video/U10A4ijmEH4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qKPXum88aCMAsGEe
Being in my teens through the late 90's, I love this mash-up. Here are all the songs: Be My Lover - La Bouche What Is Love - Haddaway Around The World (La La La La) - A Touch Of Class Better Off Alone - Alice Deejay Gonna Make You Sweat - C & C Music Factory Rhythm is a Dancer - SNAP! Boom Boom Boom Boom - Vengaboys It Feels So Good - Sonique Everytime We Touch - Cascada Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65 Deep Inside - Little Louie Vega / Hardrive Show Me Love - Robin S. Waiting for Tonight - Jennifer Lopez Beautiful Life - Ace of Base Believe - Cher Gypsy Woman - Crystal Waters Finally - CeCe Peniston
I think Kirstie looks great with those bouncy curls. And Scot with that cute little "Elvis" drop on his forehead. They all look great and don't even get me started on how they sound. These songs were really big when I was in high school. I just think they do a fabulous job on these medleys. Thanks Nick for your response.
I’ve heard them do this live. They just do it without effects live. As everybody else said definitely auto tune here. Still love the feeling this video gives.
I maintain that the hardest job on a Pentatonix live concert is the sound engineer! Making sure that the echos, vocoders, lead & backup mics 🎤, etc, are switched on at the right time to each person - especially in these mashups - must be a very precise & difficult job! 😮
Hey Nick, Great reaction as always. If you really want to feel old, I remember seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and watching The Monkees' TV show when it first aired. BTW, Looks like you've spent some time in the sun. Happy summer solstice!
haha- so fun nick- thx- one of my favs - glad to be on your music journey ! this is why we love music ! - cant wait to see more of your reactions ! -much love to you and yours
They are a gift heaven sent. YOU feel ancient? I’m 65 ; not ancient, but it’s awesome! Thanks. By the way I feel inclined to join a handful of patrons. Yours is one. I live on $594.00 a month. So maybe….. if you feel so inclined isn’t the way I believe what you meant as I’ve followed you. Perhaps…. If you feel so inclined ( I do) yet aren’t able…… I appreciate you. Just a suggestion.
If you listen to this video of PTX, you will see side-by-side PTX and the original singer, so you will know who sang it and recorded it. BTW, apparently, this will play a game on your brain as the sounds through earphones go nuts. th-cam.com/video/y6WOzZixJpc/w-d-xo.html Also, you should listen to the short video of PTX honoring Tom Hanks from the movie that he directed That thing You Do. th-cam.com/video/TRP2vCB1zKM/w-d-xo.html
They are all ‘90s babies too (maybe not Matt?), so you’re not alone. And, as excellent as they are, I think there was a little technological sweetening on a couple of songs, including the Cher one, to be true to the era. Loved your reaction, as always. Peace …
Brilliant medley arrangement. I think you know all the songs, Nick! Their performance of this song live (ex Hollywood Bowl) was a pleasant surprise bc i never thought they would (or could) sing this live.
You're still a baby, lol! I was in the clubs dancing to all of this music when it came out, I just celebrated my 50th birthday and probably wouldn't even be able to dance to half of this music anymore, LOL 🎉😂
Recorded during COVID lockdown, so they each had recording and filming gear set up at their own homes and recorded and filmed separately. And filming extended over several days, hence the costume changes.
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom.. by Dutch group Vengaboys . They're still touring and go down a storm with thirtysomething's at holiday camp party weekends in the UK 😁

Me too, thought it was great!

At 73, this has to be my favorite mashup!
Thanks for the reaction Nick ...but when you said that you felt old, that REALLY made me feel old! (I was your current age during this era 🙂
Sorry Rich. You’re very young don’t worry

Lol! Loved the reaction!! YES there was autotune.. was necessary to honor those songs!!

I figured they were just singing heavily in their mask with a bit of nasal tone.
They are all ‘90s babies too (maybe not Matt?), so you’re not alone. And, as excellent as they are, I think there was a little technological sweetening on a couple of songs, including the Cher one, to be true to the era. Loved your reaction, as always. Peace …
Autotune was used for Life after love in homage to Cher who used it first.
The auto tune was their homage to Cher...
Yay, Nick! Back to PTX. There's auto tune as an homage to Cher. Fun, right‽
Exactly :)
They knocked this one out of the park!
There ain’t no autotune they have a jet, the real for real I watch them like bro
It’s soooo fun, they are incredible!
Yup. They're using "Auto-tune"...because Cher did.
I think I said that! It wasn’t hate
So. Much. Fun!!!🎉
Recommend their original, Happy Now.
It's even better live! Check ot their performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 2022.
Brilliant medley arrangement. I think you know all the songs, Nick! Their performance of this song live (ex Hollywood Bowl) was a pleasant surprise bc i never thought they would (or could) sing this live.
👍👍A Great fand fun performance. 🖖❤

Naw that's auto tuned in homage to the first to ever do it vocally, Cher. Enjoyed that, really nostalgic!
Recorded during COVID lockdown, so they each had recording and filming gear set up at their own homes and recorded and filmed separately. And filming extended over several days, hence the costume changes.
So funny, listening to my era of music makes me feel old also lol❤
