It always amazes me how whenever I feel that I haven't had a particularly good day or I'm just feeling rather uninspired that it can all turn completely around in a wholey different, positive sort of way. By just truly listening to wonderful music performed by musicians who care tremendously for their craft. And to enjoy this moment in time in the company of a delightful new friend is why I will forget the dull feelings of when the day started and instead focus on the peace and contentment of how I am feeling right now.
It's cool they are all performing this song together as a tribute to the late Lou Reed and his band the Velvet Underground. It sounds pretty good, however way back in 2010 the Black Crowes covered this song, just because they loved it. The Crowes rendition is so heart-felt and passionately delivered with a genuine conviction, that comparing the two versions wouldn't be necessary and would actually be unfair. I love Neil Young and E. Costello yet I question what they're doing sitting in with My Morning Jacket.
This is from a concert Neil used to have annually for the Bridge School Foundation for students with significant special needs. Many artists appeared (for free) to raise funds for the school/charity. Not only did they perform solo sets, but many musicians generously sang together, especially in this tribute to Lou Reed, who had recently passed. It was always a wonderful love fest for the children, the artists/musicians, and the audience. So happy I was able to be in the audience for so many of these events.
this was actually the day lou reed died. they threw this tribute together that day, i was there in the crowd, and this is how i learned that lou reed had died.
It's great, but the David Johhanssen, Earl Slick version is the best I have found so far. Great to see this almost unknown classic, from the post Cale VU period is getting aired, and making new fans. For me, the best example of Reed's epic lyrical poetry there is. Coney Island baby also needs mentioning in that conversation, the drugged out rambling first half is wild
Great to see Neil Young covering a great Velvet Underground song (as sung by Doug Yule). I'd be curious to know how many people on this thread think Lou Reed sang this song, he wrote it yes, but he didn't sing it cause Yule's voice was ultimately stronger and Reed was worn out from playing the shows at Max's at the same time they recorded "Loaded".
I'm fairly certain that's not correct, it's very distinctively Reed's voice and not Yules. I couldn't find any reference to yule inging sweet nothing on loaded either.
Why is Costello actually there .. he looks like Zelig .. don't reckon he's ever listened to the Velvets and certainly hasn't heard the song before .. he doesn't know the words! .. embarrassing.
This is f’n great ✊🏽✌🏽
Neil Young is like some kind of a musical terminator, he just keeps plodding mercilessly along
kicking ass and taking names!
Indeed he does.😎
Those Canadians are a tough bunch.
Neil young is still rocking it!
Love this song
We’re lucky to have grown up listening to Neil Young. The vibemeister! How about that Jim James vocal on this one. Think he’s feeling it?
The harmonica of Neil Young that pierced al our hearts.

Insanely SOULFUL #jimjames #neilyoung🔥
Love Jim James.
Just cements my belief that some people can tune into a cosmic radio station and bring it into our realm. This is not Earthly. It is angelic.
Like to see Neil try this with the Horse.
how the children enjoyed thew song is amazing.
Jim is about to cry, he can't believe how awesome it is
Neil really feelin’ it ✌🏽
Gives me chills
This was such a beautiful show. thanks for sharing.
Sometimes you just gotta hold on to your guitar by the strings!
Other than Stevie Ray Vaughn's unplugged set, have a couple acoustic guitars rocked this hard?

Potato from what I can find it is correct. Every place I’ve looked says Yule sang it. I didn’t even realise
@@Drenwickification He is probably called 'Potato' for a reason
@@XxGbBrianxX It's definitely Yule on Loaded.
Good guitar save! 🤘👽🎸

I disagree. He and Lou were colleagues and knew each others music. Please watch this. th-cam.com/video/4akhX7ag1CA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JzdXg54pasgobMZ_
