It's mostly speculation. No one really knows if Sig will retire. Mandy has run the northwestern during salmon season and they share command of the Northwestern during the crabbing seasons. The Question is would Edgar be willing to settle for a co captain spot with Mandy
when I see how these captain's health become the main concern next to their vessel, it reminds me of the man running towards a dollar bill tied to a stick at the end of his face, as he closes distance toward his grave

Hate to see sig go but wish mandy the best
I've watched the first 10 or 11 years religiously every episode. The last few years I've had to get a second n third job to help my growing family, trust me people I'm very very happy with the way things are going. I wouldn't mind working 10 freakin jobs if it means giving my wife and kids a grate life so that's that. Now what the hell happened to Sigs little brother. Wasn't he supposed to take the Captain's chair. Can someone please fill me in thanks people.

She has worked as a deck hand aboard salmon fishing boats she is a maritime academy graduate. The Northwestern is a family boat. As long as she meets coast guard and legal requirements it's valid. I don't know about husband and wife co captains though.
@@drmayeda1930 you need 800 plus sea days to get 100 ton license I have it plus salmon boats doesn't have anything to do with a crab boat way different I worked on a crab boat as greenhorn then cook then engineer then went to maritime school and got my license it too 7 years to even have enough sea time
Don't like Sig , like Mandy even less , typical millennial, doesn't want to do any time on deck, just wants to go straight to captain, This show has become less likeable over the last couple years
It's one of the toughest jobs going I fear for them every time they go out.will be sad when he leaves
Who cares? This show is ridiculous.
Why is it ridiculous? Shows what they have to go thru to get the fish crabs. Pple who criticise this show why not give it a try??
