Wind Cave, Pequea, PA

- My friend Alex and I took a little different trip this time. We went exploring a tectonic cave in Pequea, PA called Wind Cave. It was a really cool experience navigating all the different ins and outs of the cave system. There were some really tight squeezes, not for the faint of heart.

“peck-way” I’ve been in the cave but was too scared to go down the thin corridor. You have to shimmy in between walls while going downward

Hey Josef, great to see you commenting on here. I hope things are well with you. If you ever come back to the States look me up and I'll take you with me to this cave. Of course it will be a little bit tougher for you since you are so tall but I'm sure you could make it through. Have a great time traveling across Europe.

Glad you liked it. I'll have to go back and try to find some different passages. I'm actually writing this to you from my 3rd day on the LHHT. I'm in my tent getting ready to go to sleep. I've filmed so much and keep telling myself to ease up but once I see something cool I've got to film it. I've got 24 more miles to go. I'm doing 18 tomorrow and then 6 the next to finish the 70 mile trail. Hopefully I'll have it edited by the end of next week.

Many times I was there alone and with friends.Also crawled in the cave many years ago.
Did not do much exploring in it but I think its system is 2000 feet underground
It was such a fun time exploring that cave. I need to get back there and hunt around for some other spots. I'm sure there is much more than we saw. Don't think I'll go alone though.
I used to live a little up the road from there I know that cave like a home unfortunately because of multiple collapses and my chest size I can't go into certain areas anymore
I wanna go but that collapsing makes me second guess lol

Great video! My wife and I tackled the Wind Cave yesterday for the first time. We had much the same reactions as you, so far as there were tight squeezes, but nothing impossible, and we were more comfortable in there than we thought we'd be. We hung out in the Devil's Anus (lol) for a bit, and didn't realize that passageway was there under the "sign". We got into the South Corridor a bit, but couldn't find those exits. Our video drops Tuesday evening, check it out! Keep up the solid work 👍

You can also download a map offline to look at while your in the cave once you've been in there a couple times you remember the way around pretty well in the more open areas there is some crawling and right areas to get all the way through
Well, I guess that the path down into the cave, and back, was marked so you could find your way. Having a substantial rope with you may have been a good idea. Good video.
We actually brought a bunch of glow sticks and put them down to find our way back but we didn't need them because of all the markings on the walls. Except for that one spot we didn't go down, all the difficult spots had ropes which were pretty helpful. There is so much more to explore so if you want to go with me next time just let me know.

Nice and different kind of cave from the limestone variety. Sad that there's so much graffiti. Some people have no respect for the beauty of nature, and ruin it for those of us who do. Sigh.
I agree about the graffiti. It's a shame people feel the need to do that sort of thing. I must admit though, it was sometimes useful to recognize places so we wouldn't get lost. It would be nice if there were just blazes or arrows pointing the way.

There are a couple spots I didn't see in your video I been to like the other entrance manly used as a exit and a room the call the family room
Yeah, it was my first time there so I didn't really know where to go. I'll have to look for that other entrance next time I go.
@@hikingwithaaron I see I've been in there a couple times the second entrance manly an exit is a bit tight and hard to spot without knowing where it is if you ever have an questions feel free to ask I've been there like 4 or 5 time I know my way through pretty well there just one part I haven't been to yet

Thanks for that. I posted this on Facebook and one of my former students, who lives in Pequea, told me the pronunciation after she saw the video. Wish I would have asked a local when I was there.
@@hikingwithaaron you're very welcome. New subscriber here. I love the cave and nearby areas. I'm from lancaster county and went to Pequea Valley high school. Lol. There is other cool places to visit around the area as well.
