Thank heavens for Nick Kristof and his lovely family who remind us that there is still beauty and goodness left in these very dark times. May we all come out into the light.

LOVE this!! Thank you to you and your family for sharing the joy. I know from reading your dad's columns over the years what a loving heart he has, and it looks like he passed that on to you, Caroline, and I'm so glad for that.

This is fabulous! What an adventure. Thanks for such beautiful documentation. I remember when your Dad left me and Saumya Dave ( his Win a Trip fellow travelers in 2011) a few hours early in Morocco so he could return home to see you before you left for camp. I thought then, what a great Dad - and I am still convinced of that.

As a native Oregonian who grandma was a Mazama I've enjoyed hiking around Mt Hood and the Mt Jefferson wilderness but those day are behind me now. I was able to enjoy the beauty of hiking again by watching and reading your family trips Nick, thank you for that🌞

Thanks so much Caroline. Loved your dad's article in Backpacking mag last year. While I love your dad's writing, the best part was your unique voice. My 16 yr old son has been rambling in the Sierra back country with me the last few years. Now my three older daughters are jumping onto the trails with me.

Thank you for sharing your family's hike through the PNT.. Your video is wonderful and makes me long for a second life where I have no fear of heights whatsoever. Thankfully, I got to see how beautiful (and high) the trail takes you. You've got a great family! I hope we'll see more of your videos.

A wonderful treat to vicariously see and enjoy the beauty of our wilderness. I am 82 and although camped and canoed, etc., never really hiked except up and over the Presidentials in New Hampshire when a teenager. So please know what a gift you give us each year with your columns about your family hikes, and now this great video so we can see it too!!! Much gratitude to you all.

Caroline, to cut down on the wind-noise in your video(-'s), buy a microphone windsock and cover the mic with it. In case you have an "internal mic", buy an external (shoe-mount-) mic, they normally come with a wind-sock. The sock does NOT impede the recording, but will just cut out the shrieking wind. Enjoy!

I tend to think of most treks in the Western US as being along smooth paths, and much easier than our New England, boulder- and root strewn trails. However, your transverse of the knife edge over Northwest Peak outdoes our knife edge trail on Katahdin, in Maine!

I do not understand climbing along a ridge with drops either side....nor sleeping without a tent...what about bears at night....way too dangerous...mountains I adore but always in safety !
