I notice this also. So I figured this was there was of animation of her in the future telling this & using words instead of pictures to describe the story. This way we, the listener, can paint pictures story scenes in our minds.
When you date/marry an ex of one of your relatives or friends, then you're pretty much re-inviting the pain that ex caused. Or at least, you're sending the message of "You weren't good enough but this person was better than you" and that's just wrong Doesn't matter how many years it's been or how they broke up, hooking up with ex of a relative/friend is wrong.
