DB Inspections: Crabtree C50 👀

In this video, I go through the usual inspection plus a look at the infamous Crabtree C50 DB. This DB is regarded as one of the more dangerous DBs to work on due to the amount of exposed live parts and lack of barriers.

I was 1982 and same as you never fitted one my guess for that board is 1977 / 1978

It’s a later C50 board. It’s a lighter gray than the earlier ones . Also the amperage on the mcbs are yellow . On the early ones it was white .

@slservices6463 Yes there's was sockets that could be used externally with no rcd and a bathroom with no supplementary bonding so deffo recommend an upgrade 👍

Dangerous... Pah it's only a single phase board.😅 At work we have loads of 3 phase C50's so gloves on anytime I have to open one up live! Also there isn't even an earth bar as you were supposed to put a lug and nut/bolt on the case, that is if there is a CPC as often they just used the conduit/trunking 😮

A good video however the breakers are bakelite thus are ACMs and against the law to sell on. Many of these I have come across have been made safer by asbestos sheets placed over the exposed live parts. Who knew when it was done asbestos wasn't that safe.
