The biggest mistake I ever made was failing to pump the brakes of a van after a brake job on a four post hoist. I also had the wheels turned so it beached itself on the platform. No damage apart from a busted air line. My boss was really good. I called him and explained what happened. His first words were "are you hurt", followed by "is anyone else hurt" followed by "is the vehicle ok". Managed to get it off the hoist and he simply said "what did you learn here today". Still work here today
I had to giggle at him reading those manuals. They were in pristine condition. They probably had to dig them out of the shipping container when the hoist was delivered years ago just to make this video. No way they are read by mechanics with dirty hands on a regular basis.
I betcha absolutely no safety checks are done by anyone anywhere by any mechanic... This is why people die. We so quarterly checks on our lifts - and replace them every 10 years. Additionally, placing your hands between the lift arm and the body is a nice way to become an amputee when you are 'testing' the stability of the vehicle.
I don't trust China made lifts..most guys don't know how to rack Trucks.. Chevy s. U need to use specific lift points..I own only inground in my shop.. American made..mine has been removed after 50 yrs of service..and restored casing inspection sandblasted clean painted and rolled with truck bed liner. New piping undground and treated with bed liner as well oil tank is now above ground.. 1967 vintage..now ready for service for 50 more years...great video
There's plenty of violations with this video. His hands weren't in safe areas, lift was missing slip pads, he's not even wearing safety glasses. I wouldn't recommend this video.
+Hugh Morris THE LIFT IS EQUIPPED WITH MANUFACTURERS OEM PADS I AM QUITE UNAWARE WHAT YOU REFFER TO AS A SLIP PAD. POSITIONING A VEHICLE ON A LIFT DOES NOT REQUIRE GLASSES HOWEVER IF YOU WERE TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE OR USE ANY POWER TOOL SAFETY GLASSES ARE A MUST

I cleaned and lubed my lift arms every week at least. All the dirt and what not raining down makes them dirty fast.
Who’s here because of their teacher
me
Me on my mother's account 😂
You forgot the most important part which is to make sure the lock on each arm are engaged.
