Just because he can gaurd them doesn't mean he's the best option to gaurd them on his team. But in Miami Lebron did have a decent bit of time guarding KG, Tony Parker, Duncan, Pau, and Derrick Rose in his Prime. And he held his own against all of them.

Sorry man I don't need to watch your video coz I've been watching LeBron since early 2000s. I don't know who came up with the idea that he could guard 1 thru 5
His best defensive skill is the chase down. Man don’t got a good man to man game. Hell that why he has to chase down he can stay in front of them. He not a defender like mj, pipen kawhi, Gary Payton. He not even as good a defender as Kobe
Meanwhile MJ has more defensive first teams than LeBron and it shows. LeBron also air balls free throws and travels a lot plus elbow sticks out when shooting. Horrendous. MJ > LeBron. Jordan went 72-10 for a reason. Pip was drafted to the bulls while LeBron joined Wade and bosh who were already top 5 draft picks. Unfair. Imagine a team that came from the same draft and were all top 5 and still manages to lose two finals just shows LeBron isn’t all that. Jordan would’ve beat the teams LeBron lost to in the finals
He's never been a good defender. People only look at his chase down blocks to justify he was a good defender. I remember the ECF against Bulls, the guy kept fouling D. Rose constantantly
@ shoot might b me gang🤷🏿♂️ but when they match up bron sometimes doesn’t guard Kobe for some reason not saying bron was going out bad or whatever but to me bron was doing what he was doing..🤷🏿♂️
I don’t know why people try and make the argument that Lebron can guard 1-5 😂😂😂 He gets cooked every time he goes out to the perimeter because at the end of the day Lebron isn’t quick enough to guard that far out and defend quicker guards. If you watch Lebron closely throughout his career he mainly stays on the block, switches everything he can because he doesn’t want to stay with his man and fight through screens, and he would hardly ever guard the other teams best player. Kobe was a way more versatile defender and the only two-guard besides Michael Jordan to win nine all defensive first team awards. Lebron only has 5.
I actually believed it for a while but then I thought about it. He got cooked by JJ Barea and Jason Terry, literal role players. He’s been terrified his whole career of guarding kd, Iggy’s averages went up when LeBron was the one guarding him, Kawhi smoked LeBron, Curry was smoking him, my thing is LeBron is too slow to guard any guards, yet he also can’t guard anyone at his own position. So how tf did this narrative start that he can guard 1-5 when he’s literally never guarded anyone that I can think of successfully
Lebron was always an OVERRATED DEFENDER he was pretty good OFF BALL (passing lane steals and help side blocks) in his early cavs and heat years but he was NEVER good ON BALL (terrible lateral movement or mentally checked out) He wanted no parts of guarding Kevin Durant, or Kobe bryant and there are players on record to have beaten lebron james 1 on 1 in practice (Wade, Chad Johnson, Michael Beasley)

Good effort, you should have shown Bron getting burned by run-of-the-mill type guys. All this really showed was that LeBron struggled to guard Hall of Fame quality players in their primes. Would have been more effective to show guys like Barea and Jason Terry killing him instead of Kobe and KD.
For a guy who’s so called to have very high basketball IQ and athleticism, he gets baited a lot with those screens and not reading them beforehand 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t think LBJ is anywhere near being the best player of all time, but this video shows nothing more than the fact that other really good players are difficult to guard sometimes. LBJ has spent less than 5% of his career guarding 1s or 5s, which means he was still guarding 2(kinda)-3-4 back when he was actually playing defense, which is still impressive. Even in a huge portion of these highlights he’s playing good defense but simply getting beat by other great players. It happens to everyone, no matter how good a defender they are. LBJs current defensive “effort” is despicable and unwatchable, but a lot of these highlights show a guy playing defense as well as he can be asked. I really can’t stand the player that LBJ has devolved into. He’s left a permanent stain on his career IMO with the hopping, flopping and alleged (pill) popping. Throw in his connection to Mr Combs and his self-coronation, and I am 100% on board for deconstructing the LBJ manufactured GOAT narrative. Unfortunately, this video doesn’t put many holes in that narrative. I suspect that in his prime LBJ was not a guy you wanted guarding you if you were most 3s or 4s. He’s easy enough to screen because of his size, so 1s and 2s can get a lot of shots off, and there are plenty of 5s that would give him a horrible night’s work, but to try to use this video as the proof of his inability to guard 1-5 is a stretch. If you’re gonna hate I understand, and mostly agree, but hate better. Still gave a like though.
I’ve seen 100 times more moments of him clamping defenders shi just look at what he did to Derrick rose in the playoffs. Dude literally stayed in front of the fastest player in the league besides maybe him all game and caused him to have terrible shooting. @ lmao dude you hate him so much you just lie and say bull shi. Top 5 in assists number one in points. The most consistent beast we have ever seen. Mj was more dominant in my opinion but I look at the goat convo like the nfl convo. Longevity and story matters. Lebron has had the most hated on career expected as a 18 yr old to come in and be a super star and the fact is he did. 4 chips been to the finals around half his career I mean the teams he’s had to face? Spurs? Okc? Gsw? The only one he should have gotten but didn’t was the Dallas one all other years he’s lost they were to teams that were just to full of super star power or well built duos with a great supporting cast beyond anything mj or Kobe had to deal with.
@@Biggersandwich This take falls apart when you look at the full context and numbers instead of leaning on excuses. LeBron’s career is phenomenal, but when people throw out “GOAT” arguments based on longevity alone, they ignore key facts. First, LeBron’s 4-6 Finals record is not a sign of dominance; it’s proof of repeated failures on the biggest stage. In 2011 against Dallas, when he was expected to lead a “Big 3” Miami Heat team, he averaged a career-worst 17.8 points per game in the Finals, with just 8 points in Game 4-arguably the biggest choke job in NBA history. Compare that to Michael Jordan, who went 6-0 in the Finals and won 6 Finals MVPs, never allowing a series to go to Game 7. Kobe Bryant also stepped up in critical moments, winning 5 rings despite playing against teams like the Big 3 Celtics and the Spurs dynasty. You say LeBron faced tough competition like the Spurs, OKC, and Golden State, but let’s be real: LeBron chose to form superteams to tip the scales in his favor. In Miami, he joined forces with prime Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh-yet still fell short against Dallas in 2011 and the Spurs in 2014. In 2017 and 2018, when facing Golden State, he was swept or overwhelmed, while Jordan in the 90s faced the “Bad Boy” Pistons, a stacked Lakers team, and deep squads like the Jazz and Sonics-and still came out on top. The “tougher teams” narrative doesn’t hold up. LeBron’s “longevity” argument also overlooks how it’s padded by 20 seasons of stat-chasing. He’s the all-time leading scorer, but Jordan accomplished 10 scoring titles in just 13 seasons with the Bulls, while LeBron only has 1 scoring title. LeBron played over 20 years to hit milestones Jordan reached in 15 years. Efficiency matters too-Jordan’s career playoff scoring average is 33.4 points per game (the highest in NBA history), while LeBron sits at 28.5. In crucial closeout games, Jordan was relentless, scoring 45 points in the 1998 Finals clincher, while LeBron has often deferred or come up short. The notion that LeBron had a “tougher path” also falls apart when you realize he was blessed with superstar teammates nearly every step of the way-Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and Chris Bosh. Jordan had Scottie Pippen, yes, but never another MVP-caliber teammate. Even Kobe had less help for many of his rings (like in 2009-2010 with Pau Gasol). Longevity is impressive, but dominance, clutch performances, and consistent greatness are what separate Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant from LeBron. Being in the Finals often doesn’t mean much when you lose more than you win-Jordan set the standard of greatness by going 6-for-6, while LeBron has repeatedly fallen short.
Its been all over ESPN. The clowns on that and Fox. Been saying for years that James can guard 1-5. All to push james as the goat. No he can't lol. LeBron has never been able to take on the best players and guard them. He gives up and makes excuses. Flopping around like fish out water. He has NO BAG AT ALL.
Let's be real though, did anyone other then hardcore Bron fans actually believe he could guard 1 through 5. I mean, I try really hard to be fair minded when it comes to Lebron. But come on, big bulky Bron trying to guard someone Chris Paul's size? Or Jokic's size? You know what, maybe a 5. I might consider him being able to guard a 5 during his stint in Miami. But Jason Terry is proof he can't guard small players well. No offense to any Bron fans lol. Just calling it like I see it lol
@dotfoefive5997 Rose wasnt small. Nd he's got cooked more than not. He got those last minute blocks that look kool. He locked up Rose cuz he didn't have a consistent shot at the time. But he didn't lock up Parker, Murray, or Jason Terry. And he can't defend centers either. Bron perfected the chase down block but Tayshaun Prince still had the most iconic one on Kobe TWICE.
@@Atlas365247 Tony Parker is 6”2 and Derrick rose is 6”3 he’s a small gaurd furthermore LeBron was not the primary defender of Jason terry , Tony Parker , or Jamal Murray. I'm assuming Tony Parker wasn't young in this matchup and he's still spry, meanwhile young blood LeFreakOff struggles to keep up.
Kind of unfair to use Kobe as a sample to prove LBJ can't guard SGs when Kobe is closer to being the GOAT than LBJ.
A handful of players were ‘effective’ at guarding Kobe. The guy was just a master at making difficult shots. Lebron is not one of them.

We knew this a loooooooong time ago he’s been abused by everyone from Terry, Barrea, Leonard, Curry, Durant, Parker etc. He has no chance vs 5’s.
Jordan would’ve locked these fools up considering how many defensive first teams he had. If Kobe can guard Durant, so can MJ.

Lebron was always an OVERRATED DEFENDER
he was pretty good OFF BALL (passing lane steals and help side blocks) in his early cavs and heat years
but he was NEVER good ON BALL (terrible lateral movement or mentally checked out) He wanted no parts of guarding Kevin Durant, or Kobe bryant and there are players on record to have beaten lebron james 1 on 1 in practice (Wade, Chad Johnson, Michael Beasley)

At first lebron couldn’t play that high level of defense and offense while being the main passer. He some how got better and better and could play everything complete and ppl still complain. Mj was not this complete. He was better at certian things but he wasn’t even the best 1v1 defender himself. I’ve seen him get cooked
