I love Jen Brister; I have seen her a few times and found every show hilarious. This show is a real winner for me. I laughed from beginning to end. I wish she were on our screens more. She’d be hilarious on Taskmaster
So glad this came up in my feed! What a brilliant set this was, hugely enjoyable and thorougly hilarious. This goes straight to the top of the pile. What a talented comedian you are Jen, thank you for making me smile so very hard with my face. I look forward to seeing much more of you in the future. Absolutely first class 🙏😎😂😂
Amazing closing bit. Wow. Don’t know that I’ve seen something that strong before. I felt she was feeling it emotionally and deeply also. Weird bec I teared up (wet eyes) after that.
It was a great closing wasn’t it? I saw this live in Norwich & she actually did tear up when talking about her mum. She said “it’s obvious that I’m upset, and that’s ok.” Nothing weird about empathising with this!
Always enjoy both her comedy and lovely eye candy, but I'm typing before even halfway through the set and she busts out with an interpretation of American posters as a spot on Julia Sugarbaker from Designing Women and I'm dying in laughter and so thoroughly impressed with the skill and intillect and creativity to conceptualize and execute so effectively. I applaud, I applaud!
We don't come to comedy for optimism. We come to comedy to acknowledge real life and take the piss out of it. If comedians aren't honest about our circumstances and successfully desensitize us to their gravity, we remain utterly depressed and unable to cope. Laughter truly is the best medicine. And Jen Brewster is pharma-grade funny. Plus a wet T shirt isn't a disappointment.
Amazing show. I rarely watch things twice, but I enjoyed this massively watching it again after seeing it live last year. Jen’s just fabulous and in my next life, I’m hoping I get to marry her, lol. 😂
Pure artistry! I am so thoroughly impressed. Thank you. Cerebral foreplay with so much nuance and grit. I am genuinely grateful and enriched. Humanity, ladies and gentlemen. We have arrived. Be well.
I had the best lock down ever, clean air, friends called every day, we spoke thro the window, i didn't have to hoover up, allotments were well tended, i got a smart phone, discovered u tube. Happy days.
Genuinely surprised this special isn’t getting more traction.Your stage presence and commitment to a bit is phenomenal, and your comedy is insightful and relatable. Keep up the good work, and fuck the dudes who bailed after 50 seconds because they have the attention span of a goldfish.
I like what you wrote. I’m still trying to figure out the depth of it though. I felt she was really feeling the loss of her mother at the end and now I’ve totally lost it sobbing after what you wrote.
It’s been ages since I have had the patience to watch an entire stand up show. This was just fabulous. I am a 47 year old married man with no kids. I suddenly feel like my wife and me need to befriend some 40+ lesbian women. Life would be much more hilarious. 🤣
Yes!! Awesome Jen!!❤ Damn, I wasn't expecting the Spanish mom part.. such a great surprise! It was genius and it touched my heart ❤ Also just wanna say.. Please don't listen to these people, you don't need to justify yourself and your work Keep being the great comedian you are!! (As you are doing:) ) Honestly this thing about people complaining to comedians is so infuriating They are COMEDIANS! Of course they love THEIR children and THAT is what gives them the the right to JOKE ABOUT THEM! fuck's sake! This is also what happened to Romesh Ranganathan who said the same thing as Jen and it's pretty obvious from his special that he restrained from doing his usual jokes and he felt like justifying himself.. and that's so unfair and a bloody shame! Thanks for your brilliant art and thank you for the (thought provoking) laughs!! We need them!
5:21, this is soooooo true. In REAL life: I'm a crazy, energetic, adhd woman FULL of bad ideas and chaos. I'm a grown child. BUT with my son, I am responsible, making sure he eats, naps, takes a bath, learns good values, and learns about boundaries and rules while having a fun, fulfilled childhood. He does NOT get the real me. Only while playing. Then he brings out that fun crazy adhd child that lives inside me. Haha! He's 1,5 years old, and my amazing little buddy.
This woman is hilarious. A shame her yelling a lot of the time but not all the time started to unnerve me and my particular hearing loss and sensitivity. Couldn’t enjoy all of it because of that but still gave a like because she is hilarious without all that nerve wracking energy getting in the way of my enjoyment with my personal particular hearing problems and sound triggering ptsd. Hope to get back to her comedy one day so of course, had to like and comment lol
The only thing worse than lying to very young children is telling them the truth about everything. "No, there is no such thing as Santa. He was a cleric in the dark ages who did great work for poor children. He's dead now. Night night!" "No, mom and I were not wrestling when you walked in without knocking last night." "Yes, there are endless things to fear in the dark. Sleep tight, muffin." "Yes, Daddy is blind, but I can still see everything YOU do wrong. Go and sin no more." OK, that last one may have been a lie, but nobody's perfect, and every parent needs their own lore. 55 years later, mine is still in effect, and almost a religious belief with both of our kids. I am legend. But after 20 years of therapy for both of them, now they've decided to just lie to young kids no matter what, and no matter whose kids they are. My daughter is a craftsman with fiction. She told a stranger's kid just the other day, in queue at Target that SHE is the tooth fairy, and she was going to get ALL of the kid's teeth tonight. I blame myself, really...
I always thought Gweneth Paltro's "Goop" magazine should be called "Floop", since the candle. Incidentally, I sniffed the candle once. If her mommy parts smell like the perfume in that candle, she needs a qualified medical professional to do some investigation. There's a problem.
I'd like to suggest some other hobbies I've heard many middle-aged women doing beyond the three Jen minetioned. Piano forte, guitar, learning Mandarin Chinese, making one's own uniquely-scented candles, bridge, literature ("The Knobbit", for example), or hot yoga.
@ I’m sorry, is this a joke I just don’t get? I said the woman in the video looks 13 years younger than she is. It’s a compliment. You’re saying you look your age? Well, good for you I guess?
As I was wiping my five year old-who's-about-to-start-school-and refuses-to-understand-that-teachers-won't-do-this-for-him's bum just now, and listened to him yet again ask if I could smell that and did I like it..I reflected that every single person who has ever criticised a single word you've had to say about your kids in a comedy routine, is a prick.
🫣I've seen her before.. And loved her.. Dunno what all the unnecessary screaming was about for first 10mins.. Made the set unwatchable for me but glad people enjoyed her..

Same here! But so appropriate and still funny
One of the best tours of last year for me. The kids with walkie talkies section is legendary.
Rollercoaster of emotions! This is how you do the best stand-up, over.
Love the bit about clapping for the NHS.
Top notch, Jen!😅😅😅

"Give me that, you spoon!" might be the funniest thing ever said to a child. I will be using it lberally from now on.

I had the best lock down ever, clean air, friends called every day, we spoke thro the window, i didn't have to hoover up, allotments were well tended, i got a smart phone, discovered u tube. Happy days.
This was absolutely top notch.
Omg just hilarious very talented comedian 😂
Love Jen...learned about her from episodes of the Apollo from Britain

I couldn’t stop laughing! She’s hilarious!
OMG. I love her. I laughed so hard. I felt every minute of her telling lockdown with the children. Thank you.

The chin hair bit lolol😅😅😅😅😅
The Gwyneth bit….PERFECTION…! PURE GENIOUS!
She is absolutely fantastic!
She is a genius! Amazing!
Absolutely hilarious!
What helps with my grief is the realization that the more it hurts the more love I've had in my life. Turns from bitter to kinda bittersweet.

She's 48! She looks 10 years younger than that!
The NHS clapping was so hilarious - Fawlty Towers Basil sort of hilarious 😂
Brilliant set.

Excellent advice!

Shes amazing 😂
She doesn't need to mention she's middle aged. Not how far up she has the pants. 😂😂😂
Nice one lol 😂
Very funny
Fellow Jen here, also 48.
I can't stand Gwyneth Paltrow either. So annoying.
You are amazing. 😂❤
You are so hilarious. Love watching you. Come to the US! We need more fucking hysterical middle aged lesbians!

💜💜💜
Awww! My twins are 2 and girls...
Amazing and a real talent in a a sea of mediocrity.
Jen reminds me of the comedian Andrews Lawrence - think it's the eyes
...or "devolvarant". OOH! Or "Floop Goop"!
She is looking very fucking good for 48
I'd like to suggest some other hobbies I've heard many middle-aged women doing beyond the three Jen minetioned. Piano forte, guitar, learning Mandarin Chinese, making one's own uniquely-scented candles, bridge, literature ("The Knobbit", for example), or hot yoga.
I would expect the "Post O Glow" to not be a makeup as much as a scrub.
This woman is almost 50?? She looks 37!!
I’m 67 but look 66. WTF are you making comments like that for. Grow up!!!!
@ I’m sorry, is this a joke I just don’t get? I said the woman in the video looks 13 years younger than she is. It’s a compliment. You’re saying you look your age? Well, good for you I guess?
I'm 26 and i get a mustacho and some little hairy chin bits so when im 45 ill probs have the full beard im getting old before my time i think
1:11:33 It’s American Pop
Can I laugh yet.
