The one thing i love about Arkham Asylum is that it’s downright creepy as hell. From the details to the buildings,to the sound designs,to the atmosphere, and there’s also the fact that you get to see first hand how the inmates are treated and what they go through.
The Arkham crazies always creep me out more than any horror games . I remember batman begins game on the ps2 the crazies even appeared in my dreams after playing the game for hours after midnight 😂.
Yaaaa scarecrow parts were creepy and you knew he was coming because strange things started happening like rain in the hall way. Those games were masterpieces. Made you feel like you were in the epic animated series from the 90s.
An underrated moment was entering the Penitentiary for the first time. Seeing your Detective Vision light up like a Christmas tree with bodies and stepping into the room with the hundreds of Insane Patients was always so intimidating to me. And seeing the dead guards littered about....if there was any part that definitively placed Arkham Asylum as a hell hole, it's the idea of working in that penitentiary everyday, stuck listening to those horrible screeches constantly, and having an extremely likely chance of being rippednto shreds if you step anywhere close to the cages. Scary stuff
I like how one of Batman’s fears in this scene is someone that he can’t manage to save or get to in time. Like, it wasn’t a jumpscare for him, it was just a sudden unreachable person begging for help
The fucking Lunatics are honestly the scariest parts of this entire game 😂 you can just easily walk through a corridor & all you’d hear is some Zombie-Like hillbilly screaming & chomping on something. Walking through the penitentiary wing for the very first time is a Nightmare in itself 😂😂
I realized that that crazed man was from the penitentiary. Look at one of the “ Breeds “ of the lunatics and then look at that guy who popped up the window
Idc what anyone says Lol the Batman Arkham games were never for kids it was for the more mature audience of Batman fans like teens and adults. Don’t get me wrong the gameplay was great but the choice of graphic design was a bit too realistic and less cartoony which is far off from what the different batman animated series looked like. As a kid I only played the cartoon animated Batman games because I didn’t like the Arkham universe ones until I got older.
Asylum had the atmosphere fucking PERFECT!! To this day Asylum gives me the same feelings it did the first time I played. It may be my favorite for the Arkham series not 100% on that tho, I really like Knight.
Scarecrow missions were the best in asylum, I kind of find a funny that when the insane inmate shows his face, Batman moves to the side, like if he was frightened😂
How is that contraption on the dudes face going to help with his criminal insanity 😭 it's actually so absurd to think the workers would torture these guys like that thinking they would get better from it. Arkham truly is a serious house on a serious earth.
Y tf would anyone wanna live in Gotham? If it ain’t Scarecrow gassing you at the Asylum in his little lab or Croc leaping outa the water & grabbing you, it’s definitely Zassz paying you a disturbing visit at your front door XD
When I actually tell y'all that the first cutscene alone was traumatizing as a 8 year old that I actually shitted myself. Scarecrow used to give me nightmares as a kid whether it was from this game or batman begins.
As a kid I always used to assume that the scarecrow toxin was causing the infected to peel off their own skin hence the blood splatters on the walls. While that’s definitely not the case I’m this scene as that would’ve been too grotesque for the “T” rating, it’s still pretty creepy.
The fact that jason got tortured by joker was because joker killed kindergarteners and stitched the kids body parts together he was just trying to stop joker but ultimately failed
I was like 9 years old when this game came out. I wanted it so bad but my mom said no. I was so upset but in hindsight that was a smart move by my mom. Finally got it at 13 and I think i appreciated it more at that age anyway
