Pretty good list except for:
Sonic is insanely overrated A- at best
Sheik is top ten maybe even top five
Kirby is A tier at least
Palutena and Samus are both C tier
Link and toon link should swap
Sephiroth is a super fun fighter but sadly I think he’s bottom ten
Ganon is a tier the only downside is his recovery but he and K Rool deserve at least B
S tier stands for Sonic & Steve

There's no such thing as a character tier list. We have player tier lists. And when players do better or worse we just pretend it's their characters being better or worse.
These characters haven't changed since Sora came out. It's the players who are changing.
The meta has changed. People figure out new things about how to play as and against characters and that’s what changes their positions on the tier list.
Player results definitely influence the tier lists, theres no doubt about it, but there are objective truths to character placements. You wouldnt rank dr mario higher than joker, for example, because joker is objectively a better character than dr mario.
Exactly ☝🏼 its both player and character. Players figure out things that push their character and thus setting the standard for that character what he/she can do. Characters themselves some times just out performs other characters even if the player is a lower level. We call that “character carrying”. So its both that are considered

I could agree with that, he's not entirely garbage.
This is really more of the peak of the top players tier list than an actual character tier list. Because regardless of skill level Kazuya is still broken along with Mythra/Phyrra. Meanwhile a reckless snake is just a dead Snake. But I'm happy that Snake, who was thought of as low tier, since brawl has come out in the world stage as the top tiers despite having been nerfed since then.

Whoever put Sonic in S+ and Terry in A- needs to be cancelled lol. Terry is a legitimate problem, and just because Sonix is good at the game, that doesn't mean Sonic is S+.
Sonic has very strong arials, is the fastest, and doesn’t really have any noticeable weaknesses besides being semi-lightweight. He’s just a little tricky to use.
@@RealBroccoliHour He also is easy to juggle because of his slow air speed his attacks generally have slow startup and endlag for a brawler and finally his spin dash and spin charge have a considerable amount of startup meaning if your opponent knows when you're going to spin they can quickly punish before it can be used.
Another factor that many people play down is the amount of mental stamina it takes to camp people out especially when you're playing with people that are really good against both in terms of player skill and character matchups the way you camp against one person may differ to the other person meaning you have to adjust your gameplan another thing with this style of play is how long can you deal with trying to avoid getting ko'd or combo off of any mistake you made.
@@M185_X41The spin dash start up is completely negligible to sonic mains skilled enough, and knowledgeable enough to know how to cancel it. It helps to even fake out the opponent, making them use a move unnecessarily, thinking they've predicted the timing.
@@Esteban-nk3nm That still doesn't change the facts that there is still startup to the move meaning an opportunity to punish before they can act out of the move you just have to choose to either punish it or not and wait until the spin dash goes through shield and they do aerial.

The crazy thing is, for the most part, everyone is still viable. The bottom tiers in Ultimate would be considered mid-tier at least in most other games.
It's just that some of the low tiers really struggle with some of the very high tiers.
But then again, everyone struggles with Steve and Sonic...
mostly because of everything about steve and sonic.
At that’s why the game is fun, because of how balanced it is, especially if you compare it to previous titles that had a definite best character. For ultimate, the best character really just comes down to your playstyle.

As a Sonic fan who uses the neutral B, I see this as a win.
I’m somewhat convinced that people really just don’t know how to use Kirby. I’m not saying Kirby’s top tier, but he definitely has more options than people give him credit for. Not enough people utilize copy abilities or range attacks, and when in close range, combo strings are fairly easy with just a couple simple reads.

For the record, E tier in this game is like B tier in Smash 4. Aside from the top 4 tiers (mostly), this game is really well-balanced.

As a Kirby fan, I've basically accepted that we will never have a high tier Kirby character, and if we do, they'll be nerfed like hell and be brought down to C-tier.

I see a few comments that are saying that it’s a player tier list and that’s not entirely true. Steve for example literally changes the game by building blocks. Pyra and Mythra is very powerful because you get to make use of 2 great characters. Sonic can combo very easily. At the bottom tier, Little Mac can’t leave the stage. Ganon and the other E tiers are too slow to outplay anyone. Aside from that, there are pretty minor differences all the way from D-A. Think about it, Mario is way up in A while Dr Mario is all the way down in D. Mario is easily better but they aren’t so different.
