I don't know UK style of blues so maybe it's common there. But the problem I have with this video is it reinforces the perception blues dancing is only absolutely intimit dance one would dance only with his or her partner.
There are lots of different styles of Blues not to mention the other slow dances. UK Blues is close some of the time but can be danced with more space, though that is harder. When you get to a dance people dance with whoever asks so you may well dance this style with 20 plus people on the same night. The advantage of being close is a strong shared balance which allows really good connection and musicality. If you check out our Blues and Slow Dancing playlist you will find a couple of other styles that aren't so close.
