It is sad and wrong when people are forced to pay a price or their environment is damaged because of decisions that a company is making for monetary gain. On the one hand economics does come into play when energy companies try to figure out new ways to create energy but on the other hand it is as far as i know economically viable and morally better to use and invest in clean energy that doesn't have these negative side effects.

They have all these shots of water on the ground like every well site is leaking all over the surface when in reality they just went out there after it rained. This guy doesnt even know what fracking is. The wastewater comes up with the oil. It has nothing to do with what they are putting in the ground to frack with. They reuse the fracking stuff because it costs money. When they pull oil out of the ground though, water comes up too. People don't realize that these rocks aren't just reservoirs for oil, but reservoirs for any sort of fluid and gas that can be underground. So when they pull out the oil and water comes with it, they have to do something with the water, and because its high in dissolved solids, you can't just water your crops with it. So they drill injection wells deep into the earth. Deeper than any other well by thousands of feet, and simply pump water down there. The water came from the ground, and then it goes back in the ground. It's not some man made hazardous liquid used in fracking. Even a conventional oil well that is never fracked can produce water. That water is then injected back into the ground where it came from.

This increased pressure from waste water injection is what is causing the earthquakes. And there is no reversing it. The state has finally admitted to this fact, however, the state officials (along with big oil executives) cleverly claim that fracking has nothing to do with the earthquakes and that it is actually the waste water injection that is the real problem. Truth is, waste water injection is part of the fracking process. Just because it happens on the backend doesn't mean it can't be classified as fracking. This side stepping is a futile attempt to keep the fracking process from eventually being banned. Make no mistake, FRACKING is A HIGHLY DESTRUCTIVE PROCESS and it is definitely causing these earthquakes. And if Oklahoma doesn't face that fact soon and take the appropriate actions, things will just get worse and worse and worse over time.

My husband worked for a company that worked to develop the process in the 90’s near China TX that caused ground shacking and loud explosions. I’m not sure if the “consultants” think we are to stupid to comprehend the science and will believe the nonsense about the ground shacking just happens to take place at the same exact time as major earthquakes around the world. When the land was first opened up in Oklahoma. The original land owners owned both. Over time, people sell mineral rights just like they sell land. It's not like the oil companies come in and steal all the oil underneath you. If you own the mineral rights, they pay you for it. If you don't and you only own the land. They pay you for your land use and theypayed whoever owns the minerals for the mineral use.

I believe one of our laws says that an oil company does have to pay you, but you can't stop them.
