The sheer amount of hilarity that silently creeps up and takes over a random concoction leaves me laughing so hard at times that it’s the funniest part of my day. The way you steeled yourself at the shock of the bland masala oatmeal. “All it needs is more spice” Only half a spice jar more of garam masala per bowl and this is palatable. Only need half a pound more of masala to get thru my Dutch oven of breakfast oatmeal. Then, that’s it…. No more recipes for breakfasts, no more talk of breakfast… Just accepting the bathtub of masala oatmeal that you have to go thru as part of your life now. 😂 There is a lot of intelligence in your cats eyes and mannerisms. Congratulations 😊
Your brilliantly written account of my oatmeal endeavors was certainly the highlight of MY week!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video! Yes...indeed I didn't need any more breakfasts this week, it was, as you say enough to contend with just the bathtub of oats! P.S. More garam masala is always welcome ;)
We don't use tuna but if you want a good chicken salad recipe...white chicken in water cooked ..a dolip of miracle whip and chopped red grapes and green apples and real bacon bits... some salt and pepper and yeah I know it sounds weird but it is good ..hey Jessica it's your friend Lola I just got outta the ER so I had to finish your video and you definitely came up with some interesting stuff and your cat is a cute little gremlin... and at 2 she'd come to anything you call her she's just happy to have a home I bet
Ohhh Lola! I hope that the ER fixed you up! 🏥 I’ve seen that salad with grapes and apples but haven’t tried it! I’ll have to remember that one! Thank you for the suggestion 👍🏼🧡
I make a cream cheese chili similar to what you’ve made there and it’s really delicious. I would suggest next time if you happen to add a can or two of corn, which makes it amazing and you would probably be able to get two or some more servings out of it It’s really good!
Perhaps a chicken pot pie with the frozen leftovers 😊 or instead of a pie crust use macaroni. I love to watch the pantry challenge We do a low spend, because our pantry isn't that big. We're a family of 4 and our son of 15 is like a big black whole 😅 Love from the Netherlands
Chicken pot pie would be nice! I sometimes do a chicken pot "cottage pie" that is pretty good and might work as well! We had three teenagers in the house with two boys and one girl and I might miss them but not the grocery bills!! They have hollow legs I swear! LOL
Haha your new furr baby is so cute...and your pasta dish we call it American chop suey haha if you add chilli powder it becomes chilli mac if you add paprika it would be poormans ghoulash lol ..and your new side kick is cute
Great job! Not sure if I could have tried the oats! I love fresh dill in my tuna salad but only have dried right now. I'll bet avocado and tortilla chips would be good with that chili. I saw the can of tomato soup and it reminds me of a British tomato soup recipe. Can of soup mixed with water or milk, chopped cooked bacon, sliced mushrooms and cheddar cheese.
That soup sounds so good! Just plain tomato soup is a bit boring alone! The oats were challenging but I think that I could fix them up a few ways...a future challenge!
First, I call any shaped pasta with red/meat sauce, spaghetti. It all tastes the same to me. =) Second, a tuna fish sandwich always hits the spot and I just work with whatever I have. Spicy relish has made it into my sandwiches several times. Hey there beautiful kitty! I'm thinking about adopting again. My little Lucy passed away just over a year ago. I miss a furry baby.
I think I'm going to have to try to spice up my tuna next time! I'm so sorry to hear about Lucy! I can only imagine how much you miss having a cat around. Our last cat passed away a few years ago at 18yo and it was hard for both Mr. Wanders and I. It's been awhile and we weren't looking but sometimes the right kitty just chooses you!
Ohh that sounds interesting! I wish I had grabbed a flat of mushrooms before this challenge! I'm definitely missing them! I'll have to look for other savory oats recipes!
Awe, you have a new fur baby!!! She's so cute!!! Will you share her name, when you decide what that will be? It's ok to be distracted by cute, lovable, fuzzy things...that what they do best. Well, that and keep you warm with their cuddles. I think the leftovers should be made into a lovely soup. Tis the season, after all!
I may be inadvertently joining the pantry challenge for the next few days…we’ve gotten an inch of snow today in central Georgia!! Haha last time it snowed here was eight years ago 😂. So not only are our roads totally unprepped for snow, but everyone has panic bought out the staples at the grocery store 🤷♀️🤷♀️
SNOW in Georgia!! That must have been quite a surprise! I hope you are bundled up and have a few things in the pantry ;) I'm sure you got this Sarah! You've been watching for a long time! ;)
What a beautiful girl. She looks like my Bina. I love adding dillweed too my tuna. I have also added chopped cucumbers too it as well. I never thought of making a savory oatmeal.
I bet the cucumbers would give it a nice fresh flavor! The oatmeal was a stretch for me but I think that I 'get' it now and can think of ways to improve it...next time!
Welcome to Week #3 of my NO SPEND Pantry Challenge! There's was a NEW DISTRACTION this week! If you have a good suggestion for a name let me know in the comments below!! We still haven't settled on one...lol🥰
I excel at pulling items together to make a pantry soup. This weekend I used a package of precooked lentil curry and a packet of precooked lime rice as my starting point (from Costco), and made a really good chicken and veggie soup for lunch with some bread from the freezer. Congratulations on your efforts thus far.
I use white tuna in water/drained. All veggies are diced: sweet and spicy pickles; red onions; zucchini; mixture of bell peppers. Shredded carrots. Miracle Whip. Southwestern spicy mustard. Black pepper. Wheat bread or Crackers. Or use large lettuce leaves and make a wrap.
You always come up with such interesting meals. I'm going to have yi try oatmeal with garam masala. Sounds amazing. I love kedgeree but usually don't have the right smoked fish to make it. Masala oatmeal might work out just right. Thank you!
I was skeptical but now that I've tried it I think I can really make some adjustments to suit my taste and it'll be great! If you give it a go you'll have to let me know how you liked it :D
@@JessicaWandersI think it’s just made with egg yolks so it’s a bit richer. I would have to taste Hellmans and Kewpie side by side to pick out the differences.
I usually put celery in with my tuna and black pepper. Alfalfa might be nice. I have Piccallili relish that I want to use up so I might try that this week. Cute kitty!😺 Maybe name her something close to what her name is now.
In my tuna salad I put chopped boiled eggs, pickles, garlic and onion powders, S and P, and dill or dill pickle juice (about a teaspoon). I love the idea of mixing the lettuce in with the tuna. What about your kale powder for the tuna salad? I would use it if I had it.
Great ideas! I need to be better about saving my pickle juice after I've eaten all the pickles! I keep meaning too but always forget! Loads of things you can add pickle juice to I'm learning!
@ I have heard that pickle juice is good great marinade for chicken, especially dill pickle juice when making chicken tenders or chicken sandwiches. It’s also a home remedy for headaches - gulp a couple mouth fulls and your headache will be gone in 30 minutes to an hour. At least if it’s a headache from being a little dehydrated. Oh I forgot to say that I also put Mayo in my tuna salad.
That oatmeal is something different but I would defenitly try it. I do sometimes, add some oatmeal to my chili just to stretch it a bit and it tastes good everytime.
I’m sorry, but that savory oatmeal thing really made me retch a little from this side of the screen. I don’t know what it was either but I just I wouldn’t have even been able to take a bite.
It was a bit of a challenge but I think I understand the recipe now LOL Mr. Wanders really liked it so it might appear again... I would make a few changes to the idea maybe...? I'm always up for a new idea though :D

The spaghetti with Elbow Noodles looks like Goulash 😊
Yes! A lot like that right?!
I'm so glad that you liked the chili 🙂
It was so good! I'll be making that again, for sure! :)
Make soups with the little bits of stuff you have. Good way to use it up.
Oh, I've been thinking about that ;) I'm getting some great ideas from the comments!
Try chili corn chips with the white chicken chili. Fabulous!
I’ll have to give that a try next time!
Creamy chicken cream cheese chili 😋 🤤🤤 YUMMMMM
It was soooo good! It will definitely make it into the rotation!
@JessicaWanders That would be awesome with tortillas
It's good with tortillas, tortilla chips, cornbread, and over rice. Even over baked potatoes. If you like hot definitely add more spice. I do.

I use miracle whip, sweet pickle relish, a boiled egg-chopped and sometimes onion and lettuce.
Ahh yes! A boiled egg! I keep forgetting to try that, I think I'd love it! Thanks for the reminder!
I make a cream cheese chili similar to what you’ve made there and it’s really delicious. I would suggest next time if you happen to add a can or two of corn, which makes it amazing and you would probably be able to get two or some more servings out of it It’s really good!

Also the cat is adorable!!

Ohh that sounds interesting! I wish I had grabbed a flat of mushrooms before this challenge! I'm definitely missing them! I'll have to look for other savory oats recipes!
Yes I also love savoury oats. I see them as similar to risotto, and they go great with a dollop of pesto and some Parmesan cheese and black pepper
Awe, you have a new fur baby!!! She's so cute!!! Will you share her name, when you decide what that will be? It's ok to be distracted by cute, lovable, fuzzy things...that what they do best. Well, that and keep you warm with their cuddles.

She is sooo cute AND distracting! I will share her name when we choose, definitely! It does look like I have enough for a nice comforting soup!

If you are wanting to use up more oats you could try making oat risotto.
Interesting! I'll have a look at that :)
I would recommend a recipe with mushrooms. If you still have canned mushrooms in your pantry.
I add mustard and Sriracha to my tuna salad. Mayo and pickles like you :)
I have never tried mustard! I'll have to give that a try sometimes! Thanks for the idea :)

I love that you're so creative with pantry staples - so many great things can be created from a few key left overs and pantry items! !
That is loaded with veggies! What a great idea :) I can't wait for some more lettuce! I might have to give a lettuce wrap a go again!
Hot sauce and dried dill is a must add into our tuna salad.
I don't think I've ever made a spicy tuna sandwich!! I'm going to have to try that! Thanks for the suggestion :D

I put diced celery, green onions and pickle relish in my tuna mix.
Ooh, I bet that’s super tasty!
I use white albacore tuna, celery, green onion, kewpie mayo, dill pickle relish, s and p, and a pinch of dill to make my salad. So good!
Thanks Dione :) Do you think the Kewpie mayo is a lot different? I've always meant to try it out...
@@JessicaWandersI think it’s just made with egg yolks so it’s a bit richer. I would have to taste Hellmans and Kewpie side by side to pick out the differences.
I put cheese in mine!! Not pantry challenge friendly, lol. Cheese is always the first thing to run out😛
@ Ohhh I have blocks of cheese in the freezer still! :D
I usually put celery in with my tuna and black pepper. Alfalfa might be nice. I have Piccallili relish that I want to use up so I might try that this week. Cute kitty!😺 Maybe name her something close to what her name is now.
She came with the Shira but she doesn't answer to it (or anything really lol) If we were going to change it now would be the time! ;)
Red onion in my tuna fish. Recipes looked good this week, not so sure about oatmeal.
The oatmeal felt like a stretch but with more spices it was tasty surprisingly!
Don’t knock it til you try it 😜 savoury oatmeal is similar to risotto in that it’s a blank canvas for all sorts of different add-ins

Oh I forgot to say that I also put Mayo in my tuna salad.
Marcella Oates sounds like it's a rice substitute. I make both egg and tuna salad with onions celery and relish.
Add chicken salad too
Dill is a nice addition! I only think to add it when I have it growing in the garden but I think I have some dried around here somewhere!
I actually hit the beginning. I tend to come in the middle and have to watch beginning on the replay
So you get to watch it twice?! 😉
That oatmeal is something different but I would defenitly try it. I do sometimes, add some oatmeal to my chili just to stretch it a bit and it tastes good everytime.
Haha! There you go! I think that I can definitely work with the recipe to make me love it and Mr. Wanders is already a fan so that's a WIN!
@JessicaWanders when it makes the hubby smile. The recipe is all worth it 😉😜
that oat breakfast with vegetables made me uncomfortable hahaha! Would be a hard pass if I came past that recipe. Good on you!
It was a tough recipe test! I think that I could make some changes to suit my taste but Mr. Wanders liked it and said he would order it again! :P
Elbow macaroni in spaghetti sauce reminds me of chilli mac
Mmm chili mac is yum!!
Salami pizza 🍕
Ohhhh Mmm we are missing pizza in this pantry challenge! Great Idea!
Kinda gives me ramen noodle vibes but subbing oats instead of noodle
It was kind of like that!
