A warning to using Rapidfire for Feedback. As long as the target is a unit with energy, the High Templar will continue to use Feedback until it no longer has energy. This could backfire when you use rapidfire Feedback on Ghosts. If you are not careful, all your High Templar could waste all their energy continuously feedbacking a Ghost that has no more energy, and therefore takes 0 damage from your feedbacks. Another great use of Rapidfire is for warping in Protoss units. If you can extract the Notepad file for hotkeys, you can bind your Choose Ability or AI target to several different keys, and eventually have the option to rapidfire warp-in several different Gateway units. Last tip for everyone, the speed of rapidfire depends on the repeat rate of your keyboard, since that is how fast it registers the key press when you hold down a key. You can go to your control panel, and change your keyboard's repeat rate to the fastest rate and shortest response time to maximize rapidfire.
I think only one of them can be spammable. I'd go with orbs then, since Mind Blast is a specifically targeted ability so you can just F+click rapidly on the stuff you want to nuke.
A tip for those struggling with the delay between the first action and the repeated actions. Go into your keyboard settings in your control panel (all windows OS-es not sure for macOS or linux) and change your repeat delay to fast. It takes some time to get used to the new delay (for example when using backspace to delete text) but it makes the usage of abilities with rapid fire more responsive. You still have just enough time to use the abilities one by one. You can also mess around with your repeat rate to make the spamming faster or slower and see what suites you best.
I started playing co-op recently and it's been very fun. While it's obviously not the same as ranked it does seem like some of the skills should transfer over. One of these days I'm going to poke my toe into the ladder; we'll see how it goes.

There is an odd twist if you want to use this in coop: The hotkeys for the for coop-specific units are hidden until you are in a coop game. You can either just use the pause button with a patient ally, or after a game before leaving to the score screen. Another note if you can find Zeratul: Zeratul units are not under Protoss, but under Xel'Naga.
I love to use this with the lift ability. My apm is to low to macro and go agressive with phönix normally, but its pretty easy with rapidfire. In bigger fights however you have to really think about how many units you want to lift up.
Oh my! I didn't know about this option! I guess that this is how you made the ascendants in your Alarak co-op video with trains to demolish the train with mind blast so quickly. I was unable to do that by simply holding the default key and clicking. Clicking every time slowed the process down... and also I think there is some delay added, because even if I clicked like really fast, it wouldn't proc. Also, if all of your units used their cooldown and you are still fanatically holding your default hotkey and you are clicking your left mouse button, you will fuck your battle up. Because you will simply run out of cooldowns, your next ability use fails, and your left mouse click simply selects the enemy you are targeting. Reselecting your army again and the confusion can totally demolish your forces in few seconds. So I am glad that this rapid fire choice exists. Presumably, it works better.
There is like one more important thing where you can use rapidfire just fine. its the rapid-warpin-method. you can bind multiple keys on the left mousebutton (in my case for example Q,W,E,R,A for every protoss warpgate unit) in a .txt file located in My Documents/Starcraft II/Accounts/(a series of 9 numbers f.e. 420116877)/Hotkeys ... now klick on the file you wanna add in rapidfire, and edit "TargetChoose=LeftMouseButton,Q,W,E,R,A" this to whatever you like.... just saying for thoose who didn't knew it yet :)
I have the ~ (tidla) key set up as rapidfire, and although there isn't an ability also set up for that (I might set one up if I start using High Templars a lot), what I use it for is rapidfire warp-ins. W selects warpgates, Z (for expample) zealots, and then hold the key to rapidfire warp-in zealots while moving the mouse. I also have a mouse with a few more buttons so I set one of them to do the '~' key so I don't have to hold shift or anything.
Lowko,I am unsure if you would see this but I have been having a lot of trouble recently in zvp.Their pushes seems extremely strong - especially before I have lurkers/hydra/infestor out.I am a platinum league zerg player and at this level chargelot/archon/immortal compositions seem extremely strong.Would you be able to make a vid on zvp strategy? I have tried ling/bane/ravage, Roach/Ravager, Hydra/Lurker/Roach and just cannot beat that push.I cannot have enough lurkers by the time they push and if I go crazy greedy and tech up they will just take 4 bases and I wont be able to stop them.Would be amazing if you could reply and help me out!Love your vids!!
ling-bane-ravager or roach-hydra or lurkers should work well against it. You probably just need to optimise your build order and micro. You could also try going ling-roach-muta, and harrass to keep their army at home while avoiding their archons, and teching up to lurkers. Once you have lurkers out, keep building mutas or switch to corruptors, and build some overseers to snipe observers with them. If they're deathballing up a lot, you could even try ling-bane-infestor and try to trap them with fungal.

I recently got back into SC2 to play co-op with a friend. We're up to brutal difficulty now and I was beginning to wonder if SC2 had some sort of quick-cast setting for abilities; I mainly play alarak and spam clicking for my ascendants' abilities is a bit frenetic. Thanks for the tip!
This same trick also works for coop as well. Tip: add an alternate key for each ability (unit-specific) and add that same alternate key for the select target. That way you have a single rapidfire key for all your different units. For coop you might need open options from inside a coop game to see all units. ha for a newbie like me I thought Z was the key every action got binded too, because ur corrosive bile even changed to z, so I was like why not work for bc, then I realize why the other part about ad other alternates, I can make Y a rapid fire for bc canon and whatever other abilities I use in that manner like snipe etc...but you use the grid key setup, I missed that bit and what it went. it meant ur corrosive bile is default z because the bottom left hand corner key is always the first special ability...

I am going to try this when I get home. For curiosity can I do multiple alternate keys? lets say all of the ones that typically show up for spells? to be used with units that have multiple spells and just press the one i want to spam but just have rapid fire option available?

Hi @LowkoTV , I saw a video of you playing coop commanders in which you were rapidly placing pylons. In that vid you were referencing to a rapid fire/placement (I don't remember exactly) video so I think this is somehow connected to spamming abilities like this. Is it possible to set up rapid fire keys for multiple abilities (using grid, for units with multiple abilities that you can spam, like ascendants) that also doubles for making buildings?
Hey Lowko! Is this how you transfuse your ultras? Because I tried queuing the heals with shift last time and ended up dying because I had A-moved. Do transfuse only trigger if your units are wounded?
Lowko, no shade, but I think you are misusing the phrase "first and foremost". You seem to use it in place of "first but not least". Could be habit, but thought I would mention encase it was not.
Can you explain more on going into the Starcraft documents hot key settings? I also play grid, and I'd love to set up rapid fire for X and C also. Sounds complicated.
Why'd even blizz made us have to change keys to do this ? I mean is it a secret finishing move in mortal combat ? Just let it be possible without having to change. I just tried this on co op with abathur ravagers. I changed like you said but must be that I also have to change the hotkey for corrosive to z . Since I haven't changed it and left it to C it doesn't work. So this means if I play another race or hero, the Z key won't work since Artanis's psionic storm or thor's aoe cannon are all different keys. So I have to change the hoykey every single tiem I change commander or race ? Choose ability or ai target. What does this do ? Is it like instead of left click I press z ? I hold Z and hover mouse and it's both corrosive ability hotkey and also mouse clicking for targeting location of the skill ? Gosh it's complicated. Might just need to make a video for default of what most players do for normal vs ranks races and also co op commanders. So we can play without the customization like we need to for Diablo 3 barbarian charge build that makes us have to use mouse scroll for faster charge.
So playing at a net cafe where I can't modify game files, I'll just always be at a disadvantage compared to regular casting abilities since it seems like there's a delay before you can cast something twice normally - Example if I have a pair of HTs next to each other, I hold down the Storm hotkey and click twice fast, it only casts once. Hope I'm wrong, and there's something wrong with my keyboard or something, but if anyone else can confirm this is how it works Blizzard should really look into fixing that. Either removing Rapidfire or making it a toggleable option.
you have to put the same hotkey as the ability. he customized all the different units ability to be on Z. Looks like it may take a while to setup, but I'm about to try it.
I'm using ravagers and when i hold c and click repeatedly it sometimes deselects my units. maybe its from clicking out of range or when its on cooldown. ADDED: i need to use shift, maybe i got use to nixing shift because holding a key for a second does the rapid input and its usually faster than im clicking.
You can edit the StarCraft hotkey text file outside of the game using a text editor. It is allowed as far as I know. Several progamers use this at tournaments.

I am going to try this when I get home. For curiosity can I do multiple alternate keys? lets say all of the ones that typically show up for spells? to be used with units that have multiple spells and just press the one i want to spam but just have rapid fire option available?

A bit confused. So this works best with the grid layout? Then it only works for one key right, the ability in the Z position? If I were to for example bind rapid fire to C, it would then only apply to bile, tumor and whatever else is on C? If I want rapid fire transfuse I'd need to add more keys?
It seems like you can add additional hotkeys for it through the files.
I don't use the grid layout, but I have a single hotkey for rapidfire. I just looked at each individual unit which ability I would like to use rapidfire on. So the text below is what my current hotkey file looks like.

Hi @LowkoTV , I saw a video of you playing coop commanders in which you were rapidly placing pylons. In that vid you were referencing to a rapid fire/placement (I don't remember exactly) video so I think this is somehow connected to spamming abilities like this. Is it possible to set up rapid fire keys for multiple abilities (using grid, for units with multiple abilities that you can spam, like ascendants) that also doubles for making buildings?
Hey Lowko! Is this how you transfuse your ultras? Because I tried queuing the heals with shift last time and ended up dying because I had A-moved. Do transfuse only trigger if your units are wounded?

Lowko, no shade, but I think you are misusing the phrase "first and foremost". You seem to use it in place of "first but not least". Could be habit, but thought I would mention encase it was not.

Can you explain more on going into the Starcraft documents hot key settings? I also play grid, and I'd love to set up rapid fire for X and C also. Sounds complicated.
Just look at the conf settings in the sc2 folder you will find somewhere around there the hot key xd settings

how about situation where y have multiple different spell casters, with multiple different spells.
change between them with TAB, i don't see in wich situation you would want to spam different spell casters at once?

It works on ever spell caster.
But you need to set it up for they own hot key. in Lowko case worked bc all of that abilities are at the Z button

Yes. It’s hard to do this without rapid fire to best honest.

I just tried this on co op with abathur ravagers. I changed like you said but must be that I also have to change the hotkey
for corrosive to z . Since I haven't changed it and left it to C it doesn't work.
So this means if I play another race or hero, the Z key won't work since Artanis's psionic storm or thor's aoe cannon are all different keys.
So I have to change the hoykey every single tiem I change commander or race ?

Gosh it's complicated. Might just need to make a video for default of what most players do for normal vs ranks races
and also co op commanders.
So we can play without the customization like we need to for Diablo 3 barbarian charge build that makes us have to use
mouse scroll for faster charge.
So playing at a net cafe where I can't modify game files, I'll just always be at a disadvantage compared to regular casting abilities since it seems like there's a delay before you can cast something twice normally - Example if I have a pair of HTs next to each other, I hold down the Storm hotkey and click twice fast, it only casts once.
Hope I'm wrong, and there's something wrong with my keyboard or something, but if anyone else can confirm this is how it works Blizzard should really look into fixing that. Either removing Rapidfire or making it a toggleable option.

When I do the same thing it just acts as a secondary left-click. Meaning it doesn't auto fire. I don't know why this happens. Any ideas?
you have to put the same hotkey as the ability. he customized all the different units ability to be on Z. Looks like it may take a while to setup, but I'm about to try it.

I'm using ravagers and when i hold c and click repeatedly it sometimes deselects my units. maybe its from clicking out of range or when its on cooldown. ADDED: i need to use shift, maybe i got use to nixing shift because holding a key for a second does the rapid input and its usually faster than im clicking.
Is it better to do this for all hotkey commands for making units? I hate having to alternate when warping in units.

You can edit the StarCraft hotkey text file outside of the game using a text editor. It is allowed as far as I know. Several progamers use this at tournaments.
