I built my 1969 shovel from a basket case in my kitchen for 3 years in the 90’s. I had to save 4 months to get my S&S super. It was a hard tail with fat on tank, tombstone tail light and I loved that bike. When I finished it, I rode it to sturgis from San Jose, CA. Alone and back. I was a true bug eater back then
I remember riding my old bike with front forks like that in the rain 🌧 I had to tie my old tee shirt around the forks and let it rub the tire so I didn’t get a stream of dirty water right in my face lol just an old trick for you younger Dude’s stay up ⬆️.
yea ,that got my attention as well. I wrecked my brother-in-law's 71 Datsun pick-up . I was so worried he would beat the crap out of me that I drove the thing with from the right fender digging into the tire .I at a friend's parents' house as I was 15 and he was 26 ! That suckered found me the next afternoon, and I thought I was never going to hear the end of it !
@@counterbalancecycles thats gonna be fun to watch lol. I got a 620 too man, trying to do the head on mine though. Btw thats one badass chopper you got. Goals!!
To my tastes exactly. Now, that's a chopper. I remember going into my friends house in '71 and there was a frame, a Triumph motor, beautiful springer front end, the works all tore apart until spring.. I actually prefer your Harley but they have similar lines . Never forgot those Z bars
She’s a beauty. Kicking over is half the fun, if she starts😄 Had lots of experience with Super E and B carbs and found them very weather sensitive. Now I just push a button. I’m too old to kick anymore 😢
I read somewhere the original guys who built these style bikes back in the day used these narrow forks & bars for lane splitting. Imagine you're sitting in your cage in stop & go traffic and a line of these zooms past your window. Most cars didn't have power windows back then. (My 1970 Oldsmobile 442 did.) It would be music to my ears but grandma in her Chrysler Town & Country station wagon would probably have a heart attack.
Shovelheads are the best sounding v-twin that were ever made. Or will ever be made. Especially if you lower the idle. Although that wears the crank pin.
Man them good old iron Harley motors they built em to last I had an old 1990 sportster iron 883 I boared the head put a stage two on it and a hyper charger better change and sprocket and pipes best 1250 cc motorcycle I ever owned
My mom would have appreciated your taste in cars, God rest her soul. Her first car was a '73 Cutlass Supreme, and her second car was a Datsun. Never did figure out what year or model the Datsun was, but she did say trading the Cutlass for it was one of the worst decisions she'd ever made. 😂

2 helpful suggestions: stock ignition switch wiring allowed lights to be off during start up (more juice to plugs). Increase idle up a bit
