Jack, just been passed on M6 by three of these all modified for 'green lane' use. And all V8s! Still the vehicle for off road and weekend activities. Oh the progress of the last 30 years! Compare with the new Discovery..light years apart. Thank you. And yes you enjoyed that one!
Saludos.
Great video. Takes me back to my late teens. Still plenty of S1 & S2's to be seen on the streets of Melbourne. Just yesterday I saw another new to me 3 door. Another one, a V8 lives down the road.
Looking at that you can see how the Discovery 2 was a quantum leap forward. The Disco 2 was to that, what the Disco 3 was to the 2. The Disco 1 really was an iconic vehicle for a plethora of reasons though.
Still use mine everyday...1997 300tdi, same colour combo, Rutland Red and beautiful beige, no sunroof three door model. Its the best car I have ever owned...in fact i like them so much I have had three of them. It is the Idea family, shopping, off roading, school bus, expedition vehicle you can get. Tescos today, desert safari tomorrow! However be warned if you are thinking of buying one check for rust and being that the last one was made in 1998 you'll will have to repair it at some point.
I really do like these, unfortunately i do not yet have a license so im relegated to models, would you recommend the disco 2 model or the disco 1, i love both its just deciding which one
got a 99 one few weeks ago..i love all the robbed parts off of it, Maestro back lights etc...anyway i love it. Especially the driving position. Ironically the two folded seats are illegal to use (in UK) whilst on the move !
BEAUTIFUL SPECIMAN - I HAVE A MINTER 96' D1 WITH 90K MILES - SILVER AUTOMATIC A/C MANUAL SEATS CLOTH NO SUNROOF AUTO WINDOWS - ALL ORIGINAL - THEY ARE A BIT OF A HANDFUL TO KEEP UP ON THE MAINT. BUT IF YOU STAY ON TOP OF IT THEY ARE GOOD TO GO - DRIVE MINE CROSS COUNTRY ALL THE TIME - MICHAEL FROM THE STATES
Those handles are from the Morris Marina, not the Austin Montego. Appreciate this video is a few years old but thought I’d be the boring old bloke to point it out.
Idk about the automatic gearbox but with the manual and kind of shitty mpi engine i can do 60mph easily down the highway. If i was really pushing it i could go 90mph but that is close to the top speed and also even the kind of shitty 4 cylinder petrol engine in order to keep that speed will quickly drain your wallet, savings, retirement and force you to sell your house to appease it's thirst for fuel.

No they are not, they are perfectly legal to use.
Great video!
Was it filmed with Panasonic cameras?
It was indeed, a G9 to be precise.

Great car nice and easy to fix comfortable and good on fuel . Turn the fuel pump up a bit on that auto and it really will go be very well

I didn't realise the Discovery 1 was a parts bin car
60mph was achievable, but only just.....drivel. Its 92mph top speed. It can cruise at 60mph all day long without breaking a sweat.
Are you talking about the Diesel or petrol ones?
The diesel and petrol could cruise at 70 mph all day long iv owned both
beautiful beautiful car more beautiful than new cars ugly
