I've always loved the symbolism in this episode. "I wanted to become stronger than anyone. Bioengineered human... Nomu! You, who have been created to have multiple quirks... who are obsessed with strength... bioengineered human... you... are me... from the past... or from another future... Burn up... and be put to rest." Endeavor sees himself in this monster, what he could have become. And here he is, demonstrating his resolve to end that part of who he was. To be better. To fulfill the promise he made, to be a hero his family can finally be proud of.
There's another layer of symbolism too, with all the phoenix imagery (fire wings). Phoenixes die and then are reborn - and in this episode, there are a lot of death flags for Endeavour (petal falling), and then he 'kills his old self' by burning the Nomu, and then he's reborn, like a phoenix.
Man this was such a great season finale but the fact that I didn't know that it would get better in Season 6. I can't wait see your guys' reactions to Season 5 and 6

I feel like most stories would've had Endeavor be this really toxic guy, have him do this one epic fight and die, but as he's dying, his family would forgive him. So glad that's not what Horikoshi decided to go with. Endeavor was a horrible parent, but he also was the only one actively trying to catch up to All Might. He was the only one who didn't just give a sigh of relief and leave everything to All Might. He kept trying. And we see now that he's trying to become better. He's acknowledging his mistakes. Does that mean his family has to forgive him? No. Endeavor could do a million good deeds for the world and it would still be his family's right to never want to talk to him after everything he's done. But even if his family hates him, even if the public doubts him, he's still going to give it his all. Although, it's crazy to think that Dabi casually released a creature that was so powerful it nearly took out the Number One hero. We haven't seen the League in a while. Shigaraki did say it was "their turn" now. Guess he kept his word.
Top 3 episode of the series for sure. Awesome that you've finished season 4. Can't wait to watch your Heroes Rising reaction. It's going to be epic!!🔥🔥🔥
This is my absolute favourite episode of the entire series. It still makes me emotional every time. Which is funny, because in the manga it wasn't nearly this impactful (even if it was, story wise). Everything about the music, the way they wrote and paced this moment, was perfect.
One of the reasons I love MHA is cus certain characters can be “swapped” as MC and the Todoroki family definitely has that MC energy. Both Shoto and Endeavor became some of my favorite anime characters ever
I gotta say I love how the big episodes for the Todoroki family are so well done. "Shoto Todoroki: Origin" and "His Start" are legendary. Really loved to see Endeavor and Hawks team up and the emotional moments with Shoto and his siblings watching. It's SO good.
I gotta say, as much as I hate Endeavor's guts, credit where it's due, he totally earned this win. He also earned that scar, but that's a whole other can of worms.
This fight always excites me. The first time I saw him I cried, haha, I love Endeavour. I will never justify what he did as a father, but I really love that he understood that what he did was horrible and didn't ask for forgiveness, but instead decided to be a better man overall, and just let his family decide if they want to forgive him or not. Plus, whether or not they forgive him is not a condition of his decision to be a better person. I love his character.

He's the 9th user of OFA. *** MINOR SPOILERS *** The reason for Izuku's face only being partially materialized in the vestige realm is because he hasn't completely awakened the power. As he awakens the power and masters more of it, more of his body will materialize in the plane. What happened while he was sleeping was a "quirk awakening". The users are beginning to awaken the hidden powers within OFA for Izuku to use.
