Vietnam, Highway 1 traffic (aka QL1 & AH1)

The route I took on my push bike ride in Vietnam from Hanoi to Chau Doc was 2900km and somewhere between a third and a half of that was on Highway 1, the lifeblood highway which is also the main street of many small towns. Untold trucks and buses share the road with all levels of Vietnamese life, there's never a dull moment. It was enjoyable most of the time, occasionally it was challenging and dangerous.

I lived in VN for three years so know how difficult these roads are to ride on. Hats off to you. Not easy. JP

Thanks JP, you've lived in some interesting places. I've been to Vietnam twice and love it there, even Highway 1 for the most part, but you do have to be paying attention all the time, that's for sure.
