Any reason you didn’t go ahead and enclose all 4 sides?

Air flow, getting hot etc. it was an extra complication we didn’t think we needed. We have a big auditorium so it’s ok if a little sound gets out the back.

Big question: Can you measure SPL from four positions? Inside the enclosure, 2 and 5 feet from the stage side and from 10 feet out front. Been researching this, and some of the DIY really don't make much of a sound reduction. We need a solution that really does absorb the sound internal to the enclosure so there is a practical audio level reduction, so drum audio for the audience CAN be managed at FOH. TIA

I can’t measure SPL, but I can tell you it reduced stage noise considerably.

@@mel2222mel There are free apps available that provide this capability. I use "NIOSH SLM" on my phone - more advanced solutions at FOH. (Sorry for delay of reply - I've been out of the country.) We are leaning away from doing anything, since it's not our church and without a full enclosure, the low frequencies will only fly out of the top - even with a ton of sound absorbing material around the lower part of the enclosure. Our space is far smaller, and you seem to have some decent acoustic treatment in the room and on the ceiling - we have none of that and that is one of the problems of the space. We would need at least 30-40 dB of reduction, at the front row, so we can fully control the full drum level relative to all the other inputs.
