    Capt. You are such a good guy and always demonstrate humility. Your last video you were very humble. This video proves you have more fishing skills than you give youreself credit for. One word of advice I'd share is to get some direction from either local fishermen or from the reel manufacturer about setting drag tolerances. It will prove to make a big difference in the number of fish you boat vs how many you break off. Keep up the great work!

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Frank you're awesome buddy appreciate you awesome feedback and yes the drag on the real needs to be losing a little bit the reason I keep it a little bit tight it's because there's a lot of structure and if it's a grouper it's gonna go under the structure and I will lose it that's why I keep the drag a little tight but I know I need to lose it thank you so much buddy for your awesome suggestion I will use it👍

    looks like a good day! little trick for Mahi, fish floating beds of grass for "Bailer" mahi. use 2 rods with cut bait , once you get one hooked leave him hooked and fish with the other rod. the other mahi will think he's feeding and keep coming . safe travels Capt.!

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Grouper just head down towards the bottom, sharks will do headshakes and throw their heads around, pull you all over the place. Grouper is just like having a giant Sea Bob on your line that someone squeezed the triggers on and aimed towards the bottom. The only time they move is when they see rocks or anything they can hide in.

    I love that Cuban bread. Walmart grocery stores special. But you know the Publix Cuban bread doesn't taste anything like that. However, Publix hoagie rolls are awesome for fish sandwiches and for burgers...the French style hamburger buns are the best. They work good for grouper too if it's big enough filets and batter deep fried. Snapper fried in bread crumbs, flour amd such...Pan Cubano or Publix Hoagie rolls. Some boiled potatoes. We make a salt still too. Get some salt water on a plate and let the sun dry up the water and take that salt to sprinkle on your food, or on some homemade chips. Boiled potatoes are great too with fried fish.

      Hey Capt.
      Try using fresh eel. When I catch an eel, I cut the head off then skin it. The best way is grabbing a handful of sand or roll it around in the sand them grab the skin and peel it off. I filet it and store for use later. Depending on the size of snapper I'm targeting, I cut the fillets into strips into the lengths I need. Because the eel meat is tough, it doesn't come off as easily as squid. I've caught many 15lb muttons that way.
      I troll around 10 mph using red green and yellow squid skirts (6") for mahi. It looked like you were going a lot faster. That's why I asked.
      If you use the eel, let me know if you were successful.
