This poor girl honestly, she should not have to go through this. The school should be focusing on the students who bullied her. She’s going through a lot and to add this stress on her and make her feel like a criminal is ridiculous. Our school system has become a business trying to profit off of middle class Americans who struggle. When I went to school we got detention. In detention most students would work on homework and catch up on anything they are behind on. Now they want to pull her away from focusing on school work to go to counseling and all the other orders they gave her. Wow. Unbelievable how messed up our system is. Sounds like her teacher has a classroom management issue bc he/ she should ensure a learning environment exists for all students. If the teacher can not stop it then it should have been taken up w/ Asst. Principal, Principal, school board, or superintendent to stop it. Waste of time. Truancy should be treated like in College, you just get dropped from the courses or fail. Have the students get dropped from High school and let them pay for their GED afterwards once they realize no one wont hire them.
I had to go to court today about my truancy. I’ve missed about 14 days this year due to severe bullying, social anxiety, and quarantine due to Covid. I told the judge everything that had happened. He was pretty understanding but strict at the same time. After I told him everything, he put me on pre trial diversion. That Basically that means I have to go everyday and I can’t even have tardy or anything or I’ll get more consequences. Which is gonna be a little difficult for me but I don’t want to go to juvenile. The judge told me some advice for the bullying. “If you are not showing up then you are letting the enemy win.” And he is exactly right. If I don’t go then they get a reaction out of me and it will keep happening so I’m gonna take that advice and remember that everyday I feel anxious about school. I am going to high school next year so I really hope to pass. If I keep his advice I really hope I can push through it. (Sorry about the long paragraph lol)

I been locked up 3 times 1 time for 3 months for trauncy and another time for 7 days and another time for 8 and 16 days put on probation and house arrest and sent me to facilitys with murders matter fact my cell mate was fighting 2 first degree murders and now im back in court friday and he already extended jurisdiction till im 19 im more and likely going to get locked up again and im finna turn 18 in a month
This is teaching kids to fear the law. Also, this is teaching kids that they are living under a police state. I don't feel as if she should do tutoring or counseling or any of those things unless her parents want her to. She is a minor so therefore it isn't her decision nor is it anyone else's decision what parents do with their child is long as they aren't physically or mentally abusing them. That's not the point. The point is the state can make you go to school at gunpoint. You don't get to choose for yourself whether to go or not therefore the state is violating your liberty of free choice. Yeah it's great you graduated and all but it's kind of patronizing for you to say it that way in lieu of kids that get in trouble for a victimless crime. I got a truancy letter a yr ago & it was a nightmare. Fucking scary & terrifying but gladly escaped it. So in order 2 skip out on more school, I had covid infected people give me the virus on purpose so I could escape.
In Nebraska you can’t drop out until 18. I’m 17 I stopped going junior year . School just became intolerable, nothing could get me to go, not even threats of court and probation and all that Jazz. I had truancy court and they put me on diversion (basically probation with no punishments for teens) but not even that got me to go. Anyways I was supposed to go to court again but corona virus completely delayed it so I’ve had no education for like a year. Finally I’m going to court again tomorrow, they really should just put me in online school, or for fucks sake let me drop out essentially and get my GED. My 17 year old son had to go to truancy court last month, it embarrassing he was for being absent for 3 weeks, he didn't want to go to school because 2 students was picking on him. Ever since that court date he has been going to school everyday. This mother was going to be arrested at court for her son missing days at school. Parents have to go to jail just because they're child or children be absent a lot. I was absent a lot in the 9th grade but my mother never went to court.

A few things to understand and realize. 1. Never trust the government. And I have to say my teacher violated and told the whole class about me so when I had to go to court I told the judge and testified and gave my reasoning and told them about what was going on. I just happen to get sick a lot therefore I’ve missed a lot of school. I ended up finishing the year just fine and started boosting my immune system. Nothing major happened after court they really just told my mom that if I get sick to get a excused doctors note and the school can’t really put that against me. I was traunt a lot in 7th grade, we had to go to court. Well, we didn't but they lied to us, they told me I wouldn't alongs if I attended these meetings with a women that worked at the court. What the Bailiff did in my opinion was rude as Hell. If that was me after Court I would be having a one on one with that Lard A55 Bailiff. This Female Student.........I feel so sorry for her. She has so much on her plate mentally and emotionally. Her parents were just recently divorced, and now she has to deal with Bullying at school. That is SO fucking sad. Nobody should be going to court for truancy. Personally I think that the counselor is not doing her job and should be fired. The counselor's job is to help the children with there problems, and it is so fucking low that she filed you for truancy court after you tried to get help from her. I been locked up 3 times 1 time for 3 months for trauncy and another time for 7 days and another time for 8 and 16 days put on probation and house arrest and sent me to facilitys with murders matter fact my cell mate was fighting 2 first degree murders and now im back in court friday and he already extended jurisdiction till im 19 im more and likely going to get locked up again and im finna turn 18 in a month

This is teaching kids to fear the law. Also, this is teaching kids that they are living under a police state. I don't feel as if she should do tutoring or counseling or any of those things unless her parents want her to. She is a minor so therefore it isn't her decision nor is it anyone else's decision what parents do with their child is long as they aren't physically or mentally abusing them. It's absurd that I received a letter in the mail stating that there could be legal action taken against me. 🙄🙄🙄

You don't get to choose for yourself whether to go or not therefore the state is violating your liberty of free choice. Yeah it's great you graduated and all but it's kind of patronizing for you to say it that way in lieu of kids that get in trouble for a victimless crime.

I got a truancy letter a yr ago & it was a nightmare. Fucking scary & terrifying but gladly escaped it. So in order 2 skip out on more school, I had covid infected people give me the virus on purpose so I could escape.
In Nebraska you can’t drop out until 18. I’m 17 I stopped going junior year . School just became intolerable, nothing could get me to go, not even threats of court and probation and all that Jazz. I had truancy court and they put me on diversion (basically probation with no punishments for teens) but not even that got me to go. Anyways I was supposed to go to court again but corona virus completely delayed it so I’ve had no education for like a year. Finally I’m going to court again tomorrow, they really should just put me in online school, or for fucks sake let me drop out essentially and get my GED. Anyways I’m technically going in to my senior year so I hope that helps. It would be ridiculous if I got probation

My 17 year old son had to go to truancy court last month, it embarrassing he was for being absent for 3 weeks, he didn't want to go to school because 2 students was picking on him. Ever since that court date he has been going to school everyday. This mother was going to be arrested at court for her son missing days at school. Parents have to go to jail just because they're child or children be absent a lot. I was absent a lot in the 9th grade but my mother never went to court.
Bullying sucks especially if you are the one being bullied. Children are effected the worst from divorce.

A few things to understand and realize. 1. Never trust the government. And I have to say my teacher violated and told the whole class about me so when I had to go to court I told the judge and testified and gave my reasoning and told them about what was going on. I just happen to get sick a lot therefore I’ve missed a lot of school. I ended up finishing the year just fine and started boosting my immune system. Nothing major happened after court they really just told my mom that if I get sick to get a excused doctors note and the school can’t really put that against me. Once again NEVER TRUST THE GOVERMENT

I just ignored people in school I put my earbuds in with some music and put my head down and walk fast to class once there If I had to take them out I would but only if necessary but the way they treat kids just because they don’t want to go to school is ridiculous. I was traunt a lot in 7th grade, we had to go to court. Well, we didn't but they lied to us, they told me I wouldn't alongs if I attended these meetings with a women that worked at the court. Anyway, it was horrible. I suggest to just go to school, like a lot of you I had a lot of issues with bullies and anxitey. But, at the end of the day the baggage adds when you don't go. I havn't been traunt sense then, barely missed a day last year. They will take you to court, your parents could go to jail, you could get taken away, etc. If you don't care, then good for you. I got lucky, I'm still will my family and they didn't throw anyone in jail. But, I can't promise you it will go well. I don't think if its your first time they with do anything, alongs if your honest and understand you've messed up. I'm happy I got back on track, I'm a lot happier now not having that stress anymore. Also, I got held back. (excuse my bad spelling)

What the Bailiff did in my opinion was rude as Hell. If that was me after Court I would be having a one on one with that Lard A55 Bailiff. This Female Student.........I feel so sorry for her. She has so much on her plate mentally and emotionally. Her parents were just recently divorced, and now she has to deal with Bullying at school. The Judge I think seems like someone who is really concerned for the welfare of the child. Sending these parents to jail is NOT always the answer.

Same, I've missed maybe like 30 days because of it, but you should always take care of yourself first before anything, including school. If you miss days because of any kind of illness, then that absence should be justifiable.

After I tryed to tell my consueler but she said she was leaving ( I think shes racist to me cause I'm black and she's white and she hardly help me ) when I was leaving she sat down and went on her computer as soon as I lefted I took a look back and there she was closing her door ( I think she thought I left ) so I decided to wait 5 min next to my consulers room and she never left her room liked she said then I went to my vice principle then she wasn't there so I 3 problems 1 people bullying me 2 health teacher teases me 3 a consueler that doesn't care about my problems, after I started being absent I missed 26 days 1st quarter 2nd quarter I for got 3rd quarter just began the day before yesterday ( I live in Hawaii so we had 2 weeks off from school ) then yesterday I got a form that states that I have to go to truancy court and guess who submitted the form for me to go to truancy court... That is SO fucking sad. Nobody should be going to court for truancy. Personally I think that the counselor is not doing her job and should be fired. The counselor's job is to help the children with there problems, and it is so fucking low that she filed you for truancy court after you tried to get help from her. Unfortunatly from me being a nice person, I wish I could've helped you but since it's over by the time I'm typing this, I can't either way. (Sorry for my english im not good I'm mexican)
