Hopefully the change in creative direction - with Triple H at the helm - will bring back fans put off by Vince McMahon's rather frustrating and at times nonsenical approach.
Glad to hear it. Was hoping to bottle the sound of the ovation accompanying his arrival. A win at the end of the night would've been grand but, a helleva an event nevertheless.
Certainly was for his "Chosen One" arrogant heel persona, I'd love to see it become permanent but I think it'd only really work whenever he plays a heel given the vibes it gives off.
Yeah but Shawn Michaels always carried himself with that arrogance ya know? It worked. I mean I'd love to see Broken Dreams back for Drew permanently, but I also see value in Gallantry because of the way it announces Drew onto the stage.
"Broken Dreams" brought back memories when I was 26 watching WrestleMania XXVI during Drew's "Chosen One" gimmick days. Here we are arriving at Cardiff like a true Scottish Warrior marching to battle, the one to take down Roman's reign of terror. It was awesome WWE brought back the song, gave me tears of joy in my eyes Goosebumps!
The boy who departed and battled against naysayers outside WWE. The boy who returned as a man and became worthy of this theme music. You've gotta love it.
I come back to this every once in a while. His current theme has grown on me so much over the years, I think it sounds fantastic, but Broken Dreams is just something special
Truly. It's made for an upper echelon caliber superstar. I've wondered what his entrance to this song would have looked like, had they continued with him as the Chosen One, donning the World Heavyweight Championship. Maybe we see it yet; maybe it all comes together at Clash At The Castle: Scotland.
Would have been perfect ending to Roman’s reign but unfortunately the writers brought in karrion kross at the worst time and ultimately made it clear he was going to lose due to a rivalry being built between them. Drew winning the belt would have been one of the greatest moments in history and most people were hoping it would happen. Sad seeing the writers ruining good moments like this
Would have certainly competed with Bulldog-Hart for the greatest UK moment in WWE history. For me it was 734 days for Roman as Universal champion versus 951 since Drew won the 2020 Men's Royal Rumble match, which in a sense this felt like the culmination to, with all due respect to his WWE championship win at WrestleMania 36 inside the Performance Center.
Realistically drew couldn’t carry the company enough to hold both belts. One sure. But not both. Nothing on drew but barely anyone is marketable enough to hold 2 main belts.
Yeah I myself imagined a scenario where Theory would cash-in and the referee would enquire as to which championship he wished to compete for. I just wasn't sure how they would play that out, but anyways, he'd choose the WWE championship. Triple threat ensues, Claymore kick to Theory, 1-2-3, your winner #AndNew WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre! (but still, your 734 days and counting, Universal Champion, Roman Reigns!) Thought that would be best to give Drew that "WrestleMania" moment he earned in 2020, without ending Roman's historic reign, while finally separating the championships again (which has otherwise felt, with each passing day since WrestleMania ☆, like the most short-sighted booking decision in company history).
Its hard to beleive this was a year ago. Its hard to describe how louder it really was in there for this match. Id give anything to be able to go back to that day
I miss his old theme song so much, I remember every time I would play Smackdown vs Raw 2011, and I would hear this song a lot and even the Miz theme song, “I came to play”
Appreciated. European/UK crowds certainly elevate WrestleManias and the Raws the night after with their vocal presence, so long as they don't cross the line in terms of civil conduct.
@@fakefootytv oh hey, it’s the “simplement deux” people 😂😂😂 But seriously, I love you guys for that. It was kind of annoying but really funny. One other critique. GET ON WITH THE MUSIC DAWG! Again I love you guys. I’m just messing around. 🤗✌🏻
This man has the best transformation in history and possibly the best come back to WWE in all of WWE rehires... he proved that he can carry the company on his back for years to come
Yes and no. They were especially great to see the superstars enter and my brother got high fives from Rey Mysterio and Matt Riddle. However our views of the squared circle could be obscured oftentimes. It was the furtherest row back in this section, I thought we could stand if we ran into this issue but security kept telling us we needed to sit. Overall definitely worth the experience but I'll probably seek tiered or floor seats closer to the ring to catch all the action better next time.
Not really. They are building a feud with him and Kross which wouldn’t work if Drew won because Kross can’t lose his first feud back and Drew can’t lose his first title defence. Realistically if Drew did win they would’ve backed themselves into a corner more so than having Roman retain. Roman still has shit to do with his story that’s gonna most likely climax at Mania or Summerslam that’s gonna involve both Rock and Cody with their eventual downfall being based around family
Yeah putting Kross in the mix seemed suspect timing. I'd rather he'd attacked someone like Shinsuke; put him up against tough fighters and slowly showcase his ascendancy, rather than have him play in the main event scene immediately.
A UK Stadium show after 30 years, something he had been clamouring and campaigning for for a long time; certainly an accomplishment for him in its own right, even if they didn't put the title(s) on him.
The following contest is scheduled for one fall is for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship! Introducing the first the Challenger, From Ayr Scotland 🏴 weighing 265 Pounds, The Chosen One, The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre!!
It was. I should probably elaborate though so anyone thinking to buy a similar seat knows what to expect. So my seat in question was in the row furtherest back of the section by the rampway. Now I didn't take this footage while in my actual seat. See what happens in this section is as soon as a match is over, people in the seats in this section rush to the barriers to get up close to the superstars. Now I was in the middle of this back row, and at times tried hopping over my chair to the barrier behind me - this was not looked fondly upon by security and they chastised me (for health and safety reasons I'm supposing. And I'm not hating on them, they were just doing their job and it's possible I could have injured somone doing that). They warned me I'd be thrown out if I did it again, which was before the main event so didn't matter but just thought people should be aware that security may resort to these repercussions. Also, because this was a stadium show, our row was far from the ring. I could still see the in-ring action but my brother (sat beside me) had someone tall a few rows down and ended up watching on the big screen above the ring most of the night. You might think 'hey, it's the back row, no one's behind you - why not just watch the show standing up as much as possible?' Security asks you to sit down so they can keep an eye on the section so no one is getting out of order. None of this is to say we had a bad time at the show - great show, fantastic time; just sharing this information for anyone that might find it helpful in their decision-making when purchasing seats. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have that help in that regard.✌🏼
The program/build-up to their match certainly had me convinced. On top of the fact that they did it in the UK, that Drew never truly got his moment at WrestleMania 36 and had yet to beat Roman one-on-one; all felt like it'd culminate in a win for the Scotsman.
I hope they give him that moment in the future, with us. I know the current trajectory of the character is a full on heel turn but despite that, he'd be treated as a hero on UK shores if vying for a World Championship, a la CM Punk at MITB 2011 in Chicago.
